Changing my lifestyle

Been lurking here for about a month now and using MFP to count my calories and log exercise. I am 41, was about 70-80 lbs over weight, smoker, couch potato and I decided I didn't want to die before I hit 50. I guess there is no gauranty that I won't but I was headed there if I didn't change my life.
So, about a month ago I started eating better; fruits, veggies, lean meats, whole grains, etc... I also started excercising with some walking, biking, playing sports with my kids. I am down about 20 lbs so far.
I started watching what I ate because I planned to quit smoking and at almost 270 lbs I just couldn't afford to put on any more weight. So, off to a good start with the eating and exercising, I quit smoking 18 days ago. OMFG, that was pretty hard the first few days. MUCHO props to my wife who quit 6 months before I did. I could have never quit like she did with cigs laying around the house.
I am feeling so much better already. I sleep better, feel better physically, have more energy, exercise is getting easier, my libido has increase, and I feel more confident. I can't wait to see how I feel when I drop another 40 or 50 pounds and get fit. I have already saved $150 on cigs and more on fast food. The cig money goes into a special savings account that will in a couple years pay for an extravagent fishing trip to Canada for my son and I.
Makes a man wonder why he didn't do this years ago... but you can't live in the past. Live in the moment with eyes on the future.
Anyway, I find a lot of the stories on here very motivating and encouraging. If some of you all can do it, I sure as hell can because I am strong and so are you.
peace
