barre 3
Any idea what I would log a barre 3 class as? http://www.barre3.com/videos/ Link is not to advertise but to give an idea of the work-outs for those in the know. I have been putting it as aerobics but not sure if that is the best.

Garmin watches
Is my garmin double dipping? I am getting calories for my run but also calories for my steps. For example I got 307 calories for running 3.8 miles (around 7K steps). My day needed around 12K steps so garmin gave me another 220ish. Does that second set contain the running steps as well?

garmin connect question
Garmin connect question: Yesterday I walked/ran over 14000 steps and it still gave me a negative calorie adjustment on MFP (-74 but then added 314 for my run) but the calories on garmin connect looked right (added about 500 calories to my goal). So on here I had only 67 calories to get through the rest of the night but on…

BTDT? When does the diet coke headache go away...
So I finally gave up the diet coke. I was addicted (1 with every meal). I drank a lot of water in between but needed my diet coke fix first thing in the morning and lately with all the food. Gave it up on Wednesday last week, slipped and had one Sunday morning. Everyday I have developed a migraine type headache. Its not…

Jawbone and calories
Fitness tracker question....so I wear a jawbone and it keeps adding exercise calories. I don't mind it terribly since I set mfp as sedentary so I figure these calories account for my daily activity EXCEPT what when I exercise it becomes redundant. How do you fix this? I only want the calories for walking that don't include…

Biking
when calculating biking calories do you just include the flat and uphill time? I started at the bottom of a hill and went up for 20 minutes and then turned and came back down (10 min). Do I count all 30 even though on the downhill I pedaled only like 4 times?

Running with the puppy
Our dog has been running an walking with us at least 2X a week for the last couple of months. We have been slacking in our running though so the longest has been 3 miles. We started ramping up after memorial and start training for our next half next month. Today was the second time this week that the puppy (3yr old…

San Diego Holiday Half RR
I recommend this race to anyone! Pros: Great communication from the beginning. Lots of emails with logistics. Race directors were willing to work with anyone who wanted to change where they parked (it was a point to point). Bib pick-up on Saturday was offered all day long and you could have someone else pick it up for you…

Training Advice
So I messed up....I have a half on 12/29 and another one on 2/8. I had been running 25-30 miles a week consistently since last year but then I had a bad race experience about 6 weeks ago and life got crazy (I work full time, 3 club sport kiddos and as a cherry on top the hubby just started coaching). All that is excuses…

Warning about a Worst Race Organization and a Race Report
Silver Strand Classic Distance Race Report: It was a total cluster and I will never race with Kozi again. I posted earlier this week that they did not allow family to pick up the packet and they were not allowing race morning pick-up which meant a total logistic nightmare (we had 7 soccer games going on this weekend... 4…

WWYD Training Question
Training for the Silver Strand half November 17th. Decision time... I have been running my weeks for training Sun-Friday. Just tended to work for my hectic life of transporting 3 kids to 4 different club sport practices and events. Mid length run on Sunday, hills on Tuesday, short run Wednesday, long run Friday. Sitting…

What do you think of this plan?
I am considering a full marathon in the next year. I have trained up to half distance 5 times in the 4 years I have been running. Actually ran 2 last year (Surf City and then 3 months later Mountains to Beach). I am slightly injury prone (hamstring and glute med.). My plan is to train up to half distance and then once…

New to the group...knee pain question
Hi all... I just finished my second half marathon (16 minute PR) on Sunday and am feeling surprising good. After my first half I was in pain/sore for about a week. This time I have already done one fast 3 mile walk (Monday) and yesterday I spent the day walking around the San Diego Zoo (can you say hills). The only thing…

What is your next race?
I am going back and forth between 3 races. The OC half marathon (number 2 in a beach cities medal but boring course), the La Jolla course (first in the triple crown series...challenging course) or Mountain to Beach (great course, friends doing it).

women....TOM question
Hi all... I ran my first half marathon on Sunday. I was due for AF on Monday. So far no show. Lots of PMS symptoms. Is this a result of my run (if so I think I will run a half marathon every month). I know I'm not preggo because you have to have sex to become pregnant.

Question about the week after a race
I completed my first half marathon yesterday. I plan on running a goal race on May 5th. Where do I go from now to keep my training up? What should I run this week (my weekly runs have been 2 five milers and then a long run). What mileage do I put my long run at starting next week? I felt really strong until mile 9 and then…

Dreaded post...weight not going down with diet/exercise
Hi all.... I have used MFP in the past with good results but now I am struggling. It doesn't help that my husband is doing it too and has lost 10lbs in the same period that I have lost 1 even though he does no cardio (he just had an MRI on his knee so he is sidelined). I am currently 125 and my goal is 118 (have been there…

Runners: Shoe question
I have been running half marathon distances for the last year. Just upping my mileage for the summer and a race in August. I have run in brooks ghosts since I began running 2 years ago and am still using the same type of socks. Current shoes have only 176 miles on them. Question: I have all of the sudden begun developing a…

Runners...hills and flat land
Random Question...I am prepping for a half marathon in August. I live in the foothills of a mountain and there is no flat land around my house. This means that half of my run is uphill and half is downhill. The question comes from the fact that my half is flat with the exception of a small hill at mile 12 (is that mean or…

Standup paddleboard?
I just got my SUP that I plan to use as a cross training tool but of course there is not preset for logging it. Do you think it would be fair to log it as kayaking? For those that don't know, SUP is essentially a really wide longboard used in either flat water (river, lake, bay) or open water. You stand on it and paddle.…

Speed or Distance?
Which should I work on? I can comfortably run a 5K in 33minutes. Before I started back teaching I was doing this every other day. My question is should I work on increasing my distance or my speed?
