garmin connect question

Garmin connect question: Yesterday I walked/ran over 14000 steps and it still gave me a negative calorie adjustment on MFP (-74 but then added 314 for my run) but the calories on garmin connect looked right (added about 500 calories to my goal). So on here I had only 67 calories to get through the rest of the night but on garmin connect I had 257 calories left. How do I get them to read the same calorie info?

I am using the fr 235 with heart rate monitor.

Good question. Mine does the same. MFP has a lower amount of calories burned than garmin. But I don't really mind coz I only eat part of it back anyway. Would be interesting to know why though.

There was an update to Garmin a few weeks back that messed with calories. The forums are up in arms about it. Basically they changed their formulas to give you fewer resting calories and more active calories. I don't like it, but I've found it essentially evens out for me on most days.

I've never gotten Garmin calories left to match MFP, they're always a few hundred apart. I let Garmin make its adjustments but I follow MFP for the final number.

I have a feeling that if you activate negative calories it will still add steps calories.

So in order to not add calories from the steps you had during your run since the run already had calories added, they add steps but with negative. So it balances out.

    I dunno

I gave up trying to determine the exact formula. I got all 508 calories from my run this morning added in but Connect says I have 901 active calories (Run plus extra steps). MFP is only counting 546 extra. *shrugs*

I have negative calories on. Even if it's off you'll still get gyped on resting calories, as it takes so long to make the adjustment budge from zero. That said, with exercise it seems to level out, but I liked the old way (resting calories was based upon TDEE) better.

    Ok so today just ended

GC total cals 2700, 800 from activities.
Ate 2100 today because that's what MFP told me to. MFP gave me 280 exercise cals and I have it set to 0.5 kg/week loss. So that would be 280+500 = 780. So basicaly it gave me 280 cals to eat from those 800 that I burned.

MFP estimated that I would burn 3100 today, while my watch said at the end of the day that I burned 2700.

Therefore I have a -400 calories adjustment. I supposed if I burned 400 cals more it would be 0.

Still GC seems to got it right since 2700 is my burn when I do medium exercise for my build.

I use my heart rate monitor during activities.
