Stacking Supplements (thermogenics)
I know this topic will be controversial, but I need some guidance. I went to 5 Star Nutrition looking for thermogenics, something my Marine brother told me about. I asked the guys in there what I could utilize along with counting calories and working out to help me burn more fat. They gave me Phenta-XT by Gentech Pharma…

How do I figure out my carb/protein/fat breakdown?
I am trying to eat a reduced or at least controlled carb diet. I have done pretty well so far coming up with meal ideas. I have a calorie goal of 1800 per day with a workout of 1 hour 3 days per week. I am seeing slow but acceptable weight loss. My question is, how do I figure out what my carb/protein/fat numbers should…

Walking... Heart Rate at Fat Burn or Higher?
I walk for about an hour a day 3 times a week as well as limit myself to 1500 calories. When I walk, should I stay in fat burning mode as far as my heart rate is concerned or do I need to go into another zone?

Want to Start Boxing... Where to begin?
I am overweight and cannot stand exercising. Bad combo. I started to look up boxing, as I hear it is a great fat burner and overall toner. It also looks like a good way to let off some steam. Any advice for beginners? I don't have any equipment but am willing to get a bag and stuff. Any advice?

Stationary Bike vs Elliptical
I carry all my weight on top and my legs are fairly toned with the exception of my inner thigh area. I have wanted to get an elliptical for some time, figuring it gives a full body workout as opposed to a bike which is mainly legs. My fiance wants a stationary bike. He is 6'2" and muscular, and he loses weight easy. We…

This is what makes me just want to quit...
So we upgraded from a crappy elliptical to a nice Nordic Track E9.0. Well I am on it today and the metal that keeps the foot pedal hooked to the arm literally breaks in half, almost sending me face first into the display console. Immediately, my husband starts going off on how I am too big for it and broke it, which really…

Exercise, is this enough?
My husband and I just upgraded to a NordicTrack E9.0 Elliptical from a chintzy 2-in-one stationary bike and elliptical combined. I started out on the cheap one for 7 minutes, and got my time up to about 35 minutes. We got the new one and it is seriously kicking my butt. My heart rate stays in the 170's (179 was my highest)…

I am an apple shape and I need help... bad
I am an extreme apple shape with pretty fit legs. My legs look like the legs of someone who is 130 lbs, but I am over 250lbs. My stomach is the main issue, but it will not budge. I continue to do the NROLFW and it is week 2 and my legs are getting more and more fit, my stomach stays the same. I am getting really scared…

Ellipticals for the very obese? Suggestions?
I have been hounding my fiance to let me get an elliptical for a few months now. See he bought me a mini stepper (at my request) and once I got on it, I found I could not do it for long enough to burn significant calories. He thinks I will give up on the elliptical like I did the stepper. Well, I finally convinced him but…

Women/High protein
I have been reading the New Rules of Lifting for Women book as well as some research on reducing the amount of extra skin after weight loss. I have seen that eating at your BMR (instead of at a calorie deficit) and making sure you have enough protein (30% of daily diet) to build muscle is helpful in preventing extra skin.…

HRM vs. MFP Calories Burned Calculations
I just got an elliptical trainer, and when logging in MFP, the system says for 15 minutes, I burn 266 calories. My HRM says 140. Which is correct???

How do I customize MFP for an Adkins/low carb style eating
I know to go into the custom options, I am there now. I am wondering however, do I have to pay attention to calories AND carbs or just carbs? Any direction/tips from fellow low carb-ers would be appreciated.
