Question about dual pulley row
I am new to weightlifting so this might be a dumb question! My coworker and I just started NROLFW and for the seated rows, the first time we used a Life Fitness dual pulley row machine. There is one weight that the two pulleys go through and we put it on 20 lbs. This week someone was using that machine so we used the…

Greek yogurt, fat free, fruit flavors but no fruit chunks
Does it exist? Recommendations? My favorite yogurt is Yoplait Light Thick and Creamy, but this is becoming more and more difficult to find. My favorite yogurt flavors are raspberry and blackberry. I cannot STAND yogurts with fruit chunks. It's not always easy to tell from the packaging which has fruit in it so I am hoping…

Headphones or no headphones, that is the question
Advice, ye good people of MFP! I am running my first half marathon on Saturday (EEK!!!) and can't decide whether to listen to music. I have an iPod shuffle and Yurbuds that I have used for basically every run during my training. On the one hand, they say not to try anything new on race day so I feel like I should have my…

Advice, please! 4 days til half marathon
Hi folks - I have my first half marathon on Saturday (yay me) and I am hoping some of you more experienced runners can advise. I have been dealing with knee issues for the last three or so weeks, most likely runner's knee confirmed by a friend who is a physical therapist. I've done lots of reading and have been doing quad…

Kind of embarrassing but here goes - before and after!
Please excuse the fact that I missed the memo about smiling in the AFTER photo and looking miserable in the BEFORE picture. I'm rocking the deer-in-headlights look but that's ok. :) Also excuse the massive pile of laundry on the couch - at least my boyfriend was considerate enough to dump it there instead of on the bed…

Any runners use baby food pouches instead of energy gels?
Being the cheapskate that I am, I wondered if those baby foods in the squeeze pouches would be a good replacement for energy gels on my long runs. They are quite a bit more affordable. I tried the Gerber Grabbers with yogurt today in Very Berry. The nutritional info is very similar to a Clif Energy Gel in Strawberry.…

NSV at 6 month check-up
While reviewing my labwork, my doctor actually yelled "Whoa! That is the best cholesterol I have ever seen! What on earth are you eating?! You're never going to have a heart attack at this rate!" This is 6 months after being told I was in the overweight BMI range, borderline prediabetic, and had slightly elevated blood…

Paces for speedwork on treadmill
I am training for my first 10k in April and my first half marathon in June. I'm doing some speedwork (mostly on the treadmill) but have no concept of how big a different there should be between my "easy" and "hard" speeds. I think I've been doing a good job of listening to my body and just got a heart rate monitor so I can…

I got in!
I found out today that I was selected in the lottery for a half marathon (my first) this summer - on my 29th birthday! Who would have ever thought I'd be so excited for the opportunity to pay a bunch of money to run for 13.1 miles?!

NSV!
Today while I was doing my hair, my boyfriend said my arms looked buff! :)

Half marathon race day is first time running 13m?
Hi folks - my first post so please be kind! :) I just entered the lottery to run a half-marathon this summer - my first, yay! I've looked at a lot of training programs for beginners, and many have you running 13m for the first time on race day. That seems a little strange to me - wouldn't it be better to have run that…
