Any runners use baby food pouches instead of energy gels?

Being the cheapskate that I am, I wondered if those baby foods in the squeeze pouches would be a good replacement for energy gels on my long runs. They are quite a bit more affordable. I tried the Gerber Grabbers with yogurt today in Very Berry. The nutritional info is very similar to a Clif Energy Gel in Strawberry.

Calories - both are 100
Potassium - only 55mg in the Clif, 135 mg in the Gerber
Total Carbs - 24g in the Clif, 20g in the Gerber
Sugar - 12g in the Clif, 15g in the Gerber

If you read the ingredient list, I prefer the Gerber - all organic real food, not all the junk in the Clif gels. They are a bit larger so that is a plus for the Clif ones, they pack all of this stuff into a much smaller amount.

Does anyone else do this?

I do. Power Bar makes one now, but I have a 3 year old that likes the pouches by plum and ella's kitchen, so I usually have these around the house. I took one with me on a day I didn't have my honey stinger energy chews and found it much easier to ingest. I take them all the time now.

Perhaps post this in on one of the running groups forums; I have only just started back running over distance but this seems like a good idea to me.
