Ranger prep training, anyone?
Looking at doing the 30, 60, and 90-day training plans along with going through Ranger Stakes from July to January. My goal is to complete each day in the plan with a few modifications so I can prepare for a big race. When the 180 days total are up, I will decide whether or not to try Pre-Ranger or just walk away better…

Mohican Trail 100
Anyone running the 2016 Mohican Trail? This will be my third attempt at the hundo, and hopefully (God willing) be my first finish.

Back for a bit
Hey, everyone. I used MFP to go from chunky butt to ultra runner. I quit MFP because I reached my goals and didn't need it anymore. Three years later (now) the weight is still off and hoping to finish my first 100 mile race in June. My hope is to tell my story to those who are struggling and use MFP as a coaching tool.…

Crew or no crew?
So I'm running the Burnig River 100 next year. They have aid stations every 5 or 6 miles with food and drink. Plus, there are lots of drop bag stations. In light of all this, why do some runners still use crews? The answer to this question will help me decide to go with a crew or not.

"Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead"
So my daughter watched the documentary "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" in school and was really excited about it. Out of morbid curiosity, boredom, and a desire to lose weight, I watched it on Hulu. I won't spoil the content of the show too much, but I will say this: I modified their plan and still dropped 20 pounds in 5…

Self-sustaining ultra: 58 miles. Need advice
Hey, all. I'm planning a solo ultra in October and it looks like the route is very isolated. I will have to get my water from some pretty questionable places after mile 12. Any experience with the various water purification methods that might help?

Anyone run the Mohican Trail 50?
Hey, all. I'm new to ultra running. My first ultra was the Rock 'n' River 50 in October last year. This year I'm looking at the Mohican Trail 50 in the hopes of qualifying for WS100. I've seen a few old race reports online, but they don't offer much info. Can anyone shed some light on this race? Any suggestions for this…

Ultra Runners and Marathoners
Greetings all. These threads fill up so quickly that I can't seem to keep up with it all. I'm in need of some advice from fellow ultra runners and marathoners as I recover from injury. I need some advice before I hit the road again. If you're willing, please add me so I can pick your brains a little. Perhaps I can teach…

Minimus Zero Trail Shoes
Okay. It is done. I broke down and bought my first minimalist shoes online today. I ordered the New Balance Minimus Zero Trail (MT00). Anyone using this shoe now? If so, what do you think about them?

Hello!
Hi, everyone. I'm a newbie in MFP and I just found out that MFP has groups. I am so glad I found this one! I'm recovering from a hip injury, so my return to distance running is a slow, painful one. I've run 5 marathons and a 50-miler so far. I just ordered my first pair of minimalist shoes and I should have them in a…

Trying to get back on the road
So I ran my first 50-miler and got plantar fasciaitis. I gained a bunch of weight between that recovery time and the next marathon. Now I have a hip injury as a result. I was at my heaviest weight ever at that marathon. Until I can run again, I need to lose 15 pounds; hopefully by end of February. Any other runners in…
