Broccoli, Sausage, and Egg "muffins"
Broccoli, Sausage, and Egg "muffins" 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil 1/2 medium onion, diced 1 tsp. minced garlic 1 lb. Roll of breakfast sausage (I used Jimmy Dean Pork sausage, but Turkey breakfast sausage would be good, too. 2 Tbsp. fresh chopped chives 3 medium white mushrooms 12 broccoli florets, chopped 1 1/2 cup of egg whites…

Chocolate Cheese Fudge
I'm not saying that it tastes just like fudge, because it doesn't (it's a little salty and grainy and tastes more a bit like salted caramel)...but it tastes pretty d@mn good, AND it has 7 grams of protein per 120 calorie serving. http://sugarbrookfarms.net/kellys-kitchen/ Yumminess.

Yep...
I do this... Admit it. You do it, too, after exercising.

Hammer Strength v. Barbells
Would I be correct in assuming that a traditional barbell bench press and an Incline bench press works more muscles than any Hammer Strength "machine"? Just a note: my goal is overall esthetics, so I'm wanting the most results for my effort.

Failing Lifts Properly
It happens. I'm a little under 2 months in, and I've failed a few different lifts. While, I *believe* I know most of the proper safety measures, etc., I would like to hear your lists of tips on weight lifting safety. (Compound lifts and otherwise) TIA! :flowerforyou:

Chili-glazed Pork with Sweet Potato Hash
I made this recipe last night, and it was really good! The pork tasted amazing. The sweet potato hash was really light and nice, but I think a sweet potato puree with a side of sautéed spinach would be better.…

Banana Cream Pie Yogurt
You should all know that 1/2 c. plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 ripe banana, and a drizzle of honey, if needed, is YUMMY! Simple and tasty!

35 lbs. Down with Pics!
I posted this elsewhere, and, although I am having trouble losing the last 5 lbs. of my FIRST goal weight target, I think I should be proud of what I've accomplished through adjusting portion sizes alone (no counting ANYTHING). The first pic is from St. Patrick's Day 2012. The last pics are from this past Christmas. I…

Common Deadlifts Form Issues
I'm a month in to lifting and have found that I can squat far more than I can deadlift, which tells me that I'm doing something wrong, or not pushing myself hard enough. So, I need to know: What are some common deadlift mistakes that prevent someone from being able to lift more weight?

Build Strength Prior to Beginning to Lift Weights?
So, my trainer (at a commercial gym) is dead set against the idea of me doing compound lifts with a barbell, yet...although, I've already done them. She claims that I need to work on form using kettlebell routines and build initial strength that way. Now, I know that I'm coming from a relatively sedentary state and that I…

Sciatic Nerve Pain--Workout, or Wait?
My sciatic nerve started giving me trouble, yesterday, while driving home from a weekend trip (4.5 hour drive). Since last night I've had a difficult time walking. I recognize that exercise is supposed to be good for sciatic nerve issues, BUT I also saw where I should allow the inflammation to go down first (within the…

Fitness Program and Your Visible Changes?
I'm interested in knowing what worked for others to produce dramatic, visible results. I have used the search function and found various things, but still want more data, please! Please share with me: 1. Your beginning stats (with pics, if possible) 2. The routine you did. 3. The diet you did. 4. The resulting stats (with…

Oh...Greek Yogurt...Got it.
When I first started eating Greek Yogurt, I recognized that I wasn't eating the real stuff, because I ate Greek Gods Traditional Plain, which contains Pectin (a filler, I suppose). I thought it tasted nice, was low calorie for 4 oz., and it had the "healthy bacteria" without the added sugars. So, then I started watching my…

Starting Strength Work-out
Day 3 down, and I don't think I'm doing it correctly? haha! I do have the book, but I've only skimmed through it, paying attention to the forms, because I wanted to get started immediately. So, I guess, I'm confused about when I'm supposed to increase the weights, because this implies that I should do so in the same work…

Frustrated with finding a Personal Trainer
I have it in my head that I need to do Starting Strength or Strong lifts, and I've been doing SS for the past week. In the meantime, I'm trying to interview trainers to find one who will recognize that: 1. I hate cardio and want to keep it to a minimum and 2. That I already b have a plan; I just need a qualified trainer…

New to Lifting and Need Calorie Adjustment, if any, advice
So, I've been at 1350 calories per day, because, according to Scoobysworkshop, I have a TDEE of 1609 calories for my activity level (desk job, very little exercise), which puts me at 16% if eating 1350 calories/day. I haven't been losing any weight, so, I'm assuming I'm underestimating my calories, because, although I have…

Water Retention or Weight Gain?
This will sound pretty stupid, but I still want to take a poll: My pants are tighter, this morning, but I started lifting last week, mainly focusing on the legs, etc., so far. Is there initial water retention with lifting, or did I just gain weight during the holidays? :ohwell:

New Girl in Weights Section of Gym
I didn't know wtf I was doing beyond reading Starting Strength and New Rules of Lifting for Women. Had no clue which were the squats bars, press bars, etc. and looked like a total dufus lifting tiny weights, BUT I did it! I even asked the guys for help and they were nice to me... and helpful! However, none of them knew…

I'm not as Big as I thought. ..
I must have BDD, or something, because I took pics today 35# down and I'm not nearly as big as I thought I was. So, maybe, I should be a little nicer to myself, huh? *WHY does it have to be so cumbersome to post pics to MFP?!

Starting Strength Weight Set Criteria
I have the SS book at home, but I need some general info. from it, at the moment. Just a minute ago, my co-worker offered to GIVE me his Marcy Standard weight bench and weights. I understand that I will progress through the weights and will need an Olympic set, eventually, if I keep weightlifting, BUT is it ok to start…

Small as I will ever be?
Yesterday, when I was discussing my weight loss/gain history, I had and "Oh" moment, in which I realized that I'm 5 lbs. away from being 125 lbs., which is the smallest I've been since I was 13 years old. Never being a slender kid, but never chubby, either, I began to think: What if this IS as small as I can get without…

How many times did you try?
How many times did you try before it finally "clicked" and you were able to see results? Personally, I've been trying since I was 13 years old to lose weight. My losses/gains resulted in me maintaining my weight for decades. I've lost count on how many times it took for it to actually be sustainable, and honestly, I'm…

Lifting, Eating "Clean," and Muscle Definition
Let's define "Eating Clean," as it was told to me and focus on THIS loose definition: "whole grains, hormone free meat, veggies, and water" Ok, the above is what I was told that I HAD to eat, and avoid all other foods, in order to achieve the "ripped effect" when lifting. In your experience, is this True or false? (Please,…

Need some direction
So, I lost almost 35 lbs. since last year. Mostly, I just cut back on portion sizes, but I started MFP a couple of months ago. I have lost 5-7 lbs., but half of that, I know, was retained water weight from taking a dieting break. I am 35 y/o, 5'2," and 131 lbs. My goal weight is 120 lbs. I'm currently at 1300 calories/day,…
