proper form for ab work
HELP :( No matter what I do, I always strain my neck when i try to do floor ab exercises that require lifting your upper back off the ground. I try to focus on whatever ab muscle I am working, and make sure that I am keeping my head straight (like the "holding an orange under your chin" kind of straight) and concentrate on…

how do you workout?
I'm just kind of curious to see everyone's different styles-- plus i thought this could be a great "toot your own horn!" kinda thread if you have a routine you are particularly proud of! :) Do you do a full body routine everyday? Do you have rest days? Upper Body/Lower Body days? Mix cardio and strength training, or keep…

roasted vegetables.. how did i mess this up?
I tried to make a simple roasted veggies dish... I cubed eggplant, cut up some carrots and asparagus, and chopped up a bit of onion, tossed in a few grape tomatoes, drizzled it in olive oil and mixed in some thyme and basil... and somehow, i think a piece of eggplant exploded in the oven?? I put in the oven at 400 for 25…

Big weight drop in the beginning?
How much weight did you drop in the beginning? i've heard when you're overweight you drop a fair share very quickly in the beginning and then you kind of taper off after your body gets used to it So far, I've lost 9 pounds in three weeks, even though I have my MFP set to 1 pound per week.. (I'm 5"4" and started at 180lbs).…

Cycling?
I am starting to train for my university's annual bike race (Indiana University's Little 500, for anyone who is from midwest US) using a bike I am borrowing for the summer from my sorority, and I am so NOT used to the cycling bike, nor do I know exactly how you should fit on them, I guess is the term? Long story short, it…

Slim Fast
Okay. I feel like I may get some backlash, but here goes anyway. Does anyone have any info about Slim Fast? I don't intend on making it a lifestyle, but just something to try for a few weeks to get myself motivated. School is just crazy and grabbing a shake would be so much easier than planning all my meals anymore.

dorm food
I am worried that I may be over estimating my calories.. For dinner today, I had a chunk of roasted turkey, a spinach salad with some sunflower seeds, and a piece of chocolate cake. Now, I thought it might be 300-400 calories, especially because of the cake, so I get on my college's "Net Nutrition" website, and put in…

alcohol?
I know there's a lot of calories in alcohol, but does anyone know how that works? Like, is it really caloric because of the extra stuff added to mix drinks, (and obviously beer has the nutritional information on it already). But is hard liquor really caloric too? Like vodka, rum, tequila? I've always been confused about…

Is anyone else worried..
I'm scared that I can't find a middle ground between eating healthier, exercising, and losing weight while still eating ENOUGH and losing the weight properly, not just cutting calories drastically and losing it quickly, you know? I feel like I get so into it that I pretend I'm not hungry, or over-estimate my calories for…

rest day?
I've worked out pretty hard the past two days, and I'm pretty sore, and wondering if maybe I should take a rest day? I heard that it's beneficial to take a day off and take it easy to help your muscles recover, but I sort of feel guilty doing that. How does everyone else feel about taking a day off?

what should i log this as...
I just did my own interval training type thing, like 50 jumping jacks, some crunches, some push ups, some squats, jumping jacks, crunches... but I added in like wall sits, some free-weight stuff, some resistance band stuff too. My heart rate was up the whole time (I don't have a HRM, I'm just going off how I felt), and I…

Inspiring Quotes?
I love reading inspiring quotes, especially when you find one that really sticks with you! So what are everyone's favorites? It doesn't have to be weight loss specific, just something that inspires you. Mine is by Ralph Waldo Emmerson, "Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you." Anyone else? :)

when things get busy..
How does everyone stay focused and actually REMEMBER that they're doing this? This may sound really dumb, but during the day when I'm jumbling going to class, making sure all my assignments are done, dealing with other responsibilities, making sure I'm on time, I'm just happy to get FOOD, so I honestly forget that I'm…

is ANYONE full?
I'm so frustrated! I'm eating as many calories as MFP is telling me to (net calories), exercising but I'm still SO HUNGRY, and the food I am eating to make it healthy doesn't taste good! Any tips? :(

eating your exercise calories
I'm having issues with the whole "eating my exercise calories" thing. Like today, I did an hour on the elliptical trainer, burned 700 calories, which now puts me under my calorie goal for the day by 700 calories. Do I necessarily have to eat that many more? Or can doing this sometimes just give me a little wiggle room if I…
