Exercise and Chronic illness- ideas?!
When I was well I was losing weight very slowly, about 1lb every 10 days. I was only a couple of pounds from a healthy BMI and I was running and lifting (fairly) heavy weights. I stupidly over trained during a viral infection (Glandular Fever) and have basically messed my body up. A year later I am up a lot of weight- and…

Running question?
I've been getting progressively into running since last July. Initially my 5k was 42:00!. It's now down to 32:00, and my 10k PB is 68:12. Ideally I'd like my 5k <30 minutes, and my 10k race in July to come in around 65. (I'm accounting for busy course, as it's Race for Life). Anyway, my question; why do so many training…

What to do, What to do?
Pretty new to lifting, but I go for heavy, less reps. My arm/ Ab day is pretty sorted and I see it working. Previously this was mostly at home, I've now joined the gym (gave in to the fear) and I need to sort my leg/ bum day. I'm doing 5 sets of 8 of: Weighted Lunge Barbell Squat Leg press Adductor Abductor Deadlift…

General IBS confusion
So, milk and stress are my main triggers, I avoid certain other foods too, and minimise certain veg and gluten. ( I did FODMAPs and figured what works for me.) Exercise helps me manage it. However, my question; What covers IBS-c? Basically it's not that I can't go- just my body is so slow to digest that I only need to go…

Glandular Fever?
I recently had Glandular Fever. I have followed all the doctors advice, and it has actually been months (Early October) since I was first really unwell. Since then I get run down/ exhausted and every little cold or illness going. I've got back into exercise and fitness relatively well, with not too much loss of times/…

Lifting ladies- Little help?
So, My program is done at home. We have a bench, barbell and plates and I do mainly compound lifts. I'm doing a very basic 5x5 routine 2-3 times a week. I've read NROLFW, and didn't really see the answer to my question. I know (through trial and error) that my current weight is correct for beginning; by the 5th rep of the…

NSV's over the holidays?
So, I've had small victories that don't relate with the scale; but this is my first tangible fitness one. I felt the need to share, especially just after Christmas when fitness isn't always the top of the list! I wore out my first pair of running trainers!! :D Time for Sale shopping for new ones! What's yours?

Any one wanna join in?
So. I just read an article on Daily mail newspaper App- it basically states that exercising every day before the run up to an indulgent day can help metabolism and blood sugar level spikes. Here is the article:…

Is this good enough?
So, Last month I became interested in lifting. My weight has always fluctuated massive, however even at my smallest I was not strong or lean. I'm just reading New rules for women. So, this is my starter plan: A very basic 5x5 plan at home: Barbell Row Barbell Squat Over head press Deadlift Bench press Anything to add that…

Jillian Michaels
Has any one read any of her books? I was wondering if they're informative and motivational or not. As much as I love her workouts- I get a sense the books may be a bit of a "How to live your life" type rant. Any thoughts?

Weak ankles- advice?
So, i've started doing a 5k once a week- My time is slow as i'm a beginner. I do smaller 20 minutes runs sporadically and am doing 30 Day shred. I've been working at a new special needs school for 2 weeks and have been on my feet much more (chasing/running/playing/day trips to country parks. My ankles are KILLING. Dull…

confused about NET cals
So, I've chosen to use BMR to judge calories consumed- 1382. I've started to up cardio levels as my chest issues are sorted. Currently i'm doing 30DS daily, and 5k once a week (with the occasional jog mid-week). i use a HRM to calculate burn. I don't eat these calories back. I'm eating 1382 (roughly) - I net on average…

First week weigh-in
So, we're 1 week in. I don't "officially" weigh 'til Wednesday so will put inches/weight up then. However I have been weighing out of curiosity over the week and nothing's budged as of yet- could all change by Weds though. What are people aiming for after this week?

Other exercise?
What are people doing along side 30DS? I'll be running 5k once a week, and i've just bought JM's Banish fat, boost metabolism DVD

Need help with calorie intake!
I honestly have no idea what calorie intake to aim for! Help would be very welcome. I have used calculators and get such variations: 1) BMR = 1,374 calories/day 2) RMR = 1454 3) TDEE = 1765. I'm not doing vast amounts of cardio yet as i've been having chest issues that are being looked into at hospital. So any calories I…
