Have BMI indicators changed in 15 years or something?
I'm seriously extremely confused. I was a chubby teen, and reached my current height when I was 15 or something. As I said, I was chubby, and I was around 148lbs for a long time... definitely overweight and I remember checking charts in magazines and them saying I was overweight, that ideally I should be 130lbs or less...…

These boards are so infuriating
Seriously if I read another of those 'I'm eating 1200 calories and exercising one hour a day and not losing weight' thread, I might have to kick something. Maybe it's time for a break.

Any dvd program that's a bit like bodyjam?
I love bodyjam, but can only go once a week. Is there any dvd program that's a bit like it? Without all the moving around obviously as space is limited... I'd just like something kinda dancy but that isn't too fast paced and lets you learn the moves easily (tried turbo fire a few times, I still don't 'get' it).

Anyone else hit a plateau before TOM every single month?
I'm just wondering if I'm alone there... I know what to expect by now but it's still pretty annoying. Every month has been the same for now... I stop losing a week after TOM, yoyo a little bit within 2lbs for 2-3 weeks, then lose 7 to 10lbs in 2 weeks with TOM and for a week after. I always thought women actually stop…

Guilty about not exercising when sick
I'm not really a work out nuts, I workout every day but it's often 150-200 calories, with two classes at the gym a week (bodypump and bodyjam). I've been sick though. I missed my bodyjam class last week because I took bodypump the day before and ended up really sore. Sunday I did bodypump again, and increased my weights,…

How can my goal be under my BMR?
It's what confuses me about MFP. Ok, I know I'm supposed to exercise, but it's my day off (sick). So my goal is 1400 (lose 1lb a week setting). But calculators give me a BMR of everywhere between 1490 and 1580. Does that make any sense to anyone? I thought we're supposed to eat above our BMR no matter what?

Best place to buy barbells and plates?
I've been doing LesMills BodyPump but hitting a bit of a wall because there's only one class I can go to with the gym's schedule. They have more classes but they're usually at an inconvenient time. I figured I'd buy a barbell and some plates and do it at home so I can work it around my schedule instead. What's the best…

What do you do with protein powder?
Ok I'm curious. How do you use it? All I see on the box usually is 'mix with water or milk', that seems pretty limited. I've been wanting to buy some but I'm afraid it would sit in the pantry for months. I'd use it in oatmeal to add some protein but do you just add it after it's cooked? Does that even taste good?

Bodymedia question
How does it work? Do you need to be able to download the app for it to be worth it? I have a kindle fire and no smartphone, so I don't think I can get the app.

30% calories difference in same workout?
I go to BodyJam once a week. The last 3 weeks I burned between 480 and 520 calories in one hour. Today it was only 340. I don't understand how it's even possible. I've lost 2lbs but that's like 1% of my weight (and I adjusted the HRM). It stopped working at some point (told me to check the strap or whatever), but I don't…

The biggest NSV to date
It's my birthday today. Hubby bought some mini chocolate mousse cakes (pretty much a chocolaty-caky shell filled with chocolate mousse). We had a light dinner (cod and frozen veggies... seriously 120 calories total or something). Then I started my cake, with 417 calories left and knowing I was going to blow my goal…

Banana calories?
I can't seem to find any accurate calorie count for these. It's annoying me :) How do I know if my banana is medium or large? How do you log them? I looked everywhere but can't find a specific answer.

What's my activity level?
Trying to figure out how much I should eat... still. Right now I pretty much eat 1650 a day, which is my goal with MFP plus exercise. I checked in place of a road map and my TDEE - 20% is 1750, so it's close (I eat that much on big workout days). That's with lightly active. I workout 7 days a week pretty much, but most are…

Do you log strength training?
I was told that heart rate monitors are not accurate for calories used during strength training, so I shouldn't log it or eat it back. Then I was told that you need extra calories when you do strength training so you can gain muscles. So... what do I do? My HRM basically says I burn 100 calories in a 30 minutes workout…

Am I eating enough? Yoyoing.
I'm 189 lbs. My goal weight is 130 lbs. I'm 5'5". My body fat is (according to the gym nurse tests) 40.4%. I lost weight very fast the first 2 months, since then I pretty much plateau for 2-3 weeks, lose a few pounds, plateau again 2 weeks later. I've been losing and gaining the same 1 lb now for 2 weeks (I know.. it's not…

Popcorn?
What do you all eat? I bought the bags of already popped ones at Trader Joes but there must be something cheaper... just plain pop corn?

Dieting at Disney World... anyone done it?
We're going in a month. I'm thrilled. But worried about what I'm going to be able to eat once there. I probably won't be able to count calories unless restaurants have nutrition info, but has anyone been there who can recommend places with semi healthy foods? I've seen salads but the dressing is probably a killer... At…

I hate plateaus
It's my second one. I lost a lot the first month but it's been slowing down. I know the logic behind it, and that it's only been 2 weeks (during which I went down 2 lbs and got them back) but it's getting so frustrating! How do you not get discouraged? I mean I have no intention to give up but I can't help worrying I'm not…

How can you be sure your measurements are accurate?
I keep saying people raving about losing inches and whatnot... but I don't get it. I've tried taking my measurements, but depending on whether the tape was at the right place, and I was squeezing more or less... the numbers were never the same. How can that be accurate? Am I missing something? The only accurate way of…

Under goal... to exercise or not
Ok dumb question... I'm 200 calories under goal tonight. Will probably get closer with snacks. I'm a bit sore from a lifting class yesterday (BodyPump) and just haven't got to workout today... Should I bother? I will probably not eat more so my deficit will be even bigger (my goal is 1450). It would be a 200 calories…

Weighing cooked whole grain pasta
Someone help me there. I can't find any way to enter cooked pasta weight in the site. I'm not going to start cooking 2oz individually when I have to make more for my family! I've read that 2 dry ounces is 1 cup cooked... but that's really not accurate. If it helps, we use barilla whole grain pasta. Does anyone know how…

Pee all the time but dehydrated?
I saw the gym nurse today and I'm at 46% hydration or something, when I should be between 55 and 66%. I don't know how I can do more. I'm drinking water all day. I have a sip every couple minutes, and refill my cup when it's empty. I probably drink between 6 an 8 cups a day (2 cups alone when I work out). Last night I…

Lesmills programs?
Can someone sum it up a little bit? I signed up at the local gym and they have those, but I'm a bit clueless about what's appropriate for a beginner (been working out for 2 months now so I guess I'm not a total beginner). I want to check the BodyJam class tomorrow, but I don't really know the other programs.

Fitness shoes?
Recommendations for good shoes for zumba /bodyjam etc? My right knee tends to get hurt.

The math error with eating calories back
So, let's say you normally burn 2400 calories. That's 100 calories an hour doing nothing, right? So you exercise for one hour for 400 calories... and you eat back those 400 calories. You ate 100 extra calories, that you would have burned anyway even if you were not exercising. So... I'm guessing MFP isn't right when just…

I'm hungry!!!
It's one of those days! How do you deal? I ate pretty well today, worked out some so I could eat more (I usually don't eat back my calories but I had to today), and I feel like I've been pretty much starving today. What do you do when it happens... do you just throw your goal out of the window? I have 70 calories left, but…

How do you enter zumba?
I was a bit surprised that there's no Zumba category... I did 20 minutes of it this morning. How do you enter that?

Eating back your exercise calories without heart monitor?
Title says it all. I have no idea how much I burn from exercising. I'm thinking of taking Zumba classes but I can't imagine using a heart monitor there, unless there's such thing as an accurate one that isn't obvious to wear... How do you do it?
