Coffee and intermittent fasting
I want to try intermittent fasting this time around (sigh). But I really like my morning coffee and I take it with cream and sugar. Do any of you do intermittent fasting with coffee and if so - do you do plain coffee or with stuff in it? TIA.

Motivation for 5 weeks
I've done well, I've lost some weight. This is going to be a tough 5 weeks though for me because it is cold and I have to work about twice as much as last month (40 vs 80 hours per week). Planning the wedding (though it's small) is anxiety inducing and anxiety makes me hungry. What can I use to change things up or make…

*Any* type of scientific evidence about bikram yoga?
I've taken 4 Bikram yoga classes so far - and they seem kind of enjoyable (I have good instructors). However, I'm really struggling to find any scientific evidence specifically about bikram yoga - is there anything to support the claims of improved circulation vs other yoga? higher calorie burns vs other yoga? Increased…

Glaze w/ regular sugar & *not* powdered/confectioner's (?)
Well, I am running low on sweets and I really want something tasty to eat tonight. I just moved 1200+ miles so I don't have many ingredients. I was going to try to make some sort of a glaze or sweet topping for these sad little wafers I have - however, I only have sugar, water, organic sesame oil, regular vegetable oil,…

Beginner workout using dumbbells?
Hi everyone, I just moved to a new apartment, was curious about exploring some form of weightlifting/strength training. I looked around their gym and they have dumbbells of varying sizes - they range from the 3lb dumbbells to 75lb dumbbells. They have 3 sized kettle bells and a bunch of machines (most of which look like…

Eating at TDEE/Refeed/"Diet break"
How long do you do it for (assuming you do it)? A week, a couple weeks, a month? Only a day? I'm just curious what people do when they're not cutting calories (if they've made a conscious decision to not ALWAYS cut calories as part of their lifestyle choice). Also, do you eat at your TDEE? TDEE+20%? Change your macros? Not…

Proxy for estimating TDEE?
I'm curious. I'm kind of a newbie to all this (101 days on MFP) but I was curious about whether I could use this as a proxy for measuring my TDEE (at my current level of activity). (Total Calories consumed PLUS 3500 calories for each lb lost) DIVIDED BY (# of days). Or rewritten: (Total Calories each day + 3500 per lb…

Please argue benefits of lifting (v yoga) in my post :)
I'm a beginner to fitness all around, but always had good nutrition so never overweight. As a result my muscles are approximately the same as a patient who's been in the ICU for 6 months without moving - nearly nonexistent muscles. I've been getting a lot of grief from one of my guy friends who keeps insisting lifting…

Adjusting to a busier lifestyle (attn: "skinnyfat" ppl)
Hi everyone, I've been lurking & logging on MFP for the last 80+ days and I've been pretty happy with everything so far. Background: I never played sports/saw the inside of a gym until 3 years ago (25 y.o.). I've never been overweight by BMI terms. My diet is reasonably good; I meet micros and macros, get lots of fiber,…

What "whole meal" can I cook in my rice cooker?
Please comment! Any thoughts on a *whole meal* that I can make using a rice cooker? I have chicken, rice, eggs, chorizo, mushrooms, coconut milk, and green peas (and assorted spices). I was considering a frittata, but I don't like frittatas, haha. Or alternatively, if I am adventurous, adding chicken to…

Didn't have my TOM - age v. exercise/fitness v. stress?
BACKGROUND (skip to question if desired) >>>> Hi everyone, I started on MFP 50 days ago - mostly because my fitness level is pretty poor secondary to childhood/young adulthood of *actual* sedentary lifetsyle. By fitness, I generally mean I'd like to be able to climb a few flights of stairs without being short of breath,…
