Looking for new fitness friends!
Hi all, I have been on MFP since February. I've lost 40 lbs through lifting and lots and lots of mountain biking and elliptical. At the beginning of august I was in a horrific bike crash and broke my collarbone, dislocated my shoulder and pretty much road rashed my entire body. I fell on a metal corrugated bridge and…

Couch potato to triathlon training team!
Hello all, I have just finished the C25k program and am running a 5k in about 35 minutes. See my profile for my story, but in short, I am "in training" for a new life. I am hoping to build up to a triathlon in August, but suck at swimming. I am looking for diet buddies as well as people who would like to train with me. I…

Does anybody pull and kid trailer with a mountain bike?
I'm moving to a new house and I will be within biking distance of a major paved trail. I have 3 kids, but the youngest one is home all day. I would like to get a bike trailer, but didn't know how difficult it would be to pull the weight of the trailer (45 lbs) plus the weight of my son (another 45 lbs) with a mountain…

Problems with charlie horses...
I have always been really susceptible to leg cramps but I have recently increased my mountain biking quite a bit to about 75 miles/week. I also do 3 HIIT sessions on the Elliptical per week and lift heavy with NROLFW. For the last 2-3 weeks I have had excruciatingly bad charlie horses through the night in my calves and…

Weight selection in stage 2?
I am just finishing stage 1 and had some pretty significant weight increases throughout the stage. Now that I am going back up to 15 reps, what is the best method for determining what weight you should select? I think I started way too low in stage 1 and probably wasted 2-3 workouts trying to get to the right level. Is…

How do I deal with my ex-MIL?
My ex-MIL and I have always had a contentious (at best) relationship. Now that her son and I have split up, it has become even more difficult. I live in the same area as her though, so I don't want to deny her the chance to see her grandchildren, even though my ex husband is 2000 miles away. However, I have a major issue…

HIIT... expert advice please!
After reading The New Rules for Lifting for Women, I took their advice and switched my crazy long 75 minute elliptical into a 25 minute HIIT session followed by the steady state workout. (They said this is best for people who actually like a lot of cardio). So, today I did the first session. I normally can go 75-90 minutes…

Questions for female heavy lifters
(Or male.... I don't discriminate.) I have gotten about halfway to my goal. I am doing 75 minutes of high intensity cardio 6x/ week and working out on the weight machines 4x/ week. I still have a ton of fat to lose, but want to start lifting heavy. When I asked one of the trainers at the gym if he could help me get…

What is the best 'go-to' food you've found?
Have you discovered any foods that you don't know how you lived without them before? Mine would have to be Wasa crispbread. I use it in place of bread (although I do still eat bread, just not as much!) I love them with peanut butter, or the laughing cow light cheese spread. Great snack! Post your best foods!

The power of positive thinking...
I am new here, but I have seen so many posts from people that say things like "I'm sad, depressed, lonely, fat, tired...." and I wanted to put in my two cents. Your life will go in the direction you point it. If you tell yourself that you are fat, you will be. Tell yourself that you have a low self esteem and you will. You…

Runners and lifters, advice please!
I just finished the couch to 5k program and can comfortably run for 35 minutes. I know they say not to, but I did the program in 4.5 weeks instead of 9. Now the running has kind of become like therapy for me and I love it, but if I take a day off it is much easier for me to do the longer distances. I don't want to hurt…

Any hockey players out there?
Yes, I am a girl and I play hockey. It is an awesome, fun and addicting sport. I wish I could play now, but there are no leagues near where I am living. I would love to hear about anybody else's hockey experiences, though!
