NSV - rode in my tall boots today
Can't remember the last time I wore them. They do have zippers, but they are the standard calf width for Mountain Horse. I also had to mount from the ground because my DH borrowed my mounting platform and didn't put it back. Horse didn't even "mutter" when I got on (6 months ago, when I - unsuccessfully - tried, I thought…

Whyizit?
When I was "heavy" (5'5" and around 180 pounds), "big"/"baggy"/"oversized" pants made me look even bigger, compared with "no pants" (in the mirror, at least). Now that I'm down around 130, slightly too large pants make me look thinner than I do with "no pants" (in the mirror)?

NSV "adjustments"
I've lost over 40 pounds since last Christmas. I recently purchased some smaller sized winter breeches and can finally fit into the "snow pant" winter breeches I purchased a few years ago with enough ease that I can finally mount a horse while wearing them. I am finding some negative to the weight loss also, though. I went…

blacksmithing calorie burn
I'm learning how to forge tools and things of iron/mild steel. Today we lit the forge fires at about 10 am and worked fairly steadily until 3 pm and then spent an hour cleaning up and putting things away. My efforts included pounding on hot steel with about a 3 or 3.5 pound hammer, cranking the blower, pounding with a big…

How many calories...?
per 100 bales of hay stacked in the loft? 100+ in so far and another 100+ to be picked up and stacked yet. We get the hay loaded in the wagon ("pop" bales - around 50-60 pounds each when fresh), stack them on the pick-up, back the pick-up into the loft and stack the bales. We finally have a small elevator this year, so a…

Seem to be losing faster than I want to
I started out with what MFP assigned me - I think it was around 1350 and lost a nice amount, at a pound or two a week (mostly not hitting my calorie goal). It seemed like I was starting to stall about a month ago, so I went up to 1500 and things got moving again, even though I mostly wasn't getting to 1500 in reality - I…

They're starting to notice a Work!
A (male) co-worker stopped me in the hall and asked me if I'd been dieting. I explained I'd simply been eating healthier. Mindful food choices are much better than mindless munching of junk.

I was able to mount my horse from the ground today!
Granted my horse is a 14-14.1 hand haflinger, but the last time I tried to mount from the ground it was a dismal failure. It probably doesn't help that we prefer a treeless saddle and my pony could use some help from MFP as well. I don't plan on doing this every time I ride, but I'm going to practice more because there's…
