Can't break the cycle
Over the past two years, I have fluctuated between being in the best shape of my life and the heaviest weight I have ever been several times. I can't seem to maintain my losses for long periods of time. When I first lost the weight, I went on vacation and relaxed on tracking and being mindful of my food choices. When I got…

Me running/eating less calories vs me eating more/lifting
READ: This is not a post bashing running by any means. This is simply my personal experience that I am sharing with you. So I think that this is really, REALLY interesting. I started getting healthier and losing weight early last year in 2013. I started at 151 lbs. Picture on the left is me on May 18th, 2013, happy about…

90 days into Stronglifts 5x5 [w/ PICS]
Actually, it's technically more like 87 days, but close enough! Beginning stats: Squat - 45 lb bar BP - 45 lb bar OHP - 30 lb bar DL - 45 lb bar BR- 45 lb bar Stats now: Squat - 65 lbs BP - 60 lbs OHP - 45 lb bar (getting very close to 50 lbs) DL - 105 lbs BR- 65 lbs It was rough in the beginning, not gonna lie. I started…

Teased for Tracking
This is really more of a vent post than anything. You know, I didn't mind it at first when people would say jesting comments about how I weigh and track everything I eat. I know most can't conceive of being hyper-aware of every single thing they eat, or they just weren't aware that people actually do this. I looked at it…

UPDATE [pics] to Another Heavy Lifting NSV
My first NSV post can be found here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1220061-another-female-heavy-lifting-nsv In this last month, I made some tweaks to my caloric intake and macros. I lowered from 2000 to 1900, then from 1900 to 1750 (the lowest I will go). I made this decision partly because I felt 2000 was a…

Another female heavy lifting NSV
A month ago, I started Stronglifts 5x5 and have never looked back. Best decision I have ever made for myself. I'll spare you the long story and details until my final "before & after" success story that I'll post a few months from now. :) My clothes were fitting looser, and my friends were telling me that I looked slimmer.…

Am I eating too much fat?
My macros are set at 40/30/30 right now but I am always eating well above my minimum target for fat. I read that it's okay to go over the minimums for fat and protein, but is there a limit? Should I be reassessing what I'm eating? My fats usually come from meat, dairy and olive oil. Diary is open for viewing and feedback…

Swiftly losing control.
I will try to keep this brief and succinct. I am a nursing student, I work two jobs (one as a barista and one as a ghost writer from time to time; I have to work, it is not an option - trust me, if it were, I wouldn't work), and I work out regularly without fail doing SL 5 x 5 and eating accordingly. I have always been a…

Severe pain in bones when squatting
I am so upset with my back squats. From day one I have had issues with them. As soon as it seems like I have one problem solved, another one starts. I watch videos and read about how to do squats correctly quite relentlessly. I started with just the bar and have worked with it for weeks. Couldn't get bellow parallel and my…

Any other girls play COD?
Would be nice to play with some fellow females for a change! Although right now I'm only playing Ghosts (I typically play what's current).

Fixing weak ankle mobility?
My ankles are preventing me from squatting below parallel. They cause me to shift my weight to my toes and not on my heels, which results in failure if I try and get deep enough. Any tips or exercises I could do to fix this issue? I can't really make gains until this is rectified. Thank you!

Question on Calories
When I hear people talk of food intake and lifting heavy weights, I hear a resounding "EATEATEAT!!!" But I'm confused on where the limit is? Lets take today for example. Normally I would have a much better breakfast than a protein bar but I was running behind this morning. I had shrimp ebi sushi with soy sauce and wasabi…

I've been very resitant about lifting...
BUT...I like some of the bodies I have been seeing lately and I know deep down that cardio alone won't get me there. I've just been denying it for forever. I have been really stubborn about wanting to start lifting because to me it seems like a lot of work in the food department. I already measure, weigh, track, make good…

Stepped in the weight room for the first time today!
After reading NROLFW, watching the Stronglifts YouTube videos, and studying up on how to eat properly, I felt prepared to at least have enough courage to walk into the gym. This gym is at my college, which means that it's free to use. However, it's only open from 1pm-5pm Mon-Fri which is not very flexible for me. The…

0g of sugar, but 12g of sugar alcohol? Wha...?
Tried a new protein bar today that was gluten-free, 20g and 0 sugar. It was delicious, by the way. ;) I was excited that it was this good with no sugar in it. As I was biting into it, I noticed on the wrapper that it said it contained 12g of sugar alcohol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but once that's chemically processed in…

Proud that I didn't cave in!
I'm home studying tonight and was starting to get hungry. I've cut back on fast food a lot, but a part of me still loves a small Coke and medium fry from McDonald's. Hubby said, "I'm going out, want me to get you anything?" I told him those two items that I wanted. I was SO CLOSE on letting him go out the door to retrieve…

FitBit Zip?
Anyone have one? Do you like it? I thought it would be neat for tracking calories or distances I run. I'm not keen on spend $100+ for newer models, however. I don't need to track my sleep or anything. Mainly I just want a highly accurate way for calorie tracking. Does this deliver?

Log before or after you eat?
Do you log your food after you eat it or before? Sometimes I do it before but many times I log after the fact. :( I still weigh/measure everything and make sensible choices, but sometimes I will go over in a category somewhere and don't know it until I log it (after I've eaten), which in a way kind of hurts the intent of…

Need advice on calories
MFP has me set at eating 1400 calories a day. I weigh 140 lbs now and I am 5'6. My goal is to be 125 lbs at the lowest. I hear all the time how people ignore MFP's calorie recommendations and either plan to eat under the suggested number or over, depending on different variables - I guess the main one being what kind of…

Great results without heavy weight training?
Right now I do not use heavy weights because I can't afford the gym membership, but I am not adverse to trying them. I am left to my own devices with what I can do, so my routine right now is C210k three times a week, Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones twice a week (it is not cardio based at all, focuses on strength…

Having difficulty figuring out how to arrange my workouts
I have workout ideas in mind that I want to do to kickstart my weight loss journey and overall fitness health. My problem is, I'm not sure how to arrange them in the week that makes sense. I want to stack my workouts in such a way that they're most effective without burning my body out. I want to rotate Jillian Michaels…
