Working out with a cold

Fitness on little sleep
Most days of the week I have trouble falling asleep at a reasonable hour. On these days I'm skipping my workouts because of it. When I don't meet the fat macro I feel like hell after just a couple of days. When I don't meet the protein macro I feel absolutely fine. I thought it wouldve been the other way around. Why is fat so essential and do you also feel like crap when not getting enough fat?
