Broth recipe
A friend asked me how to make broth, because I had told her how satisfying I found broth when I was doing the liquids-only part of the diet. This is what I do: *** You can use bouillon cubes from the grocery store if you want something super quick that you can do at home or at the office instead of coffee or tea. If I do…

Really Good Article About Breaking a Stall
Weight Loss — Without the Crazy Diets http://dailyburn.com/life/health/expert-weight-loss-tips/ 1. De-emphasize the scale. Most physicians would readily agree that the scale alone is a very incomplete metric, says Sullivan. So is your BMI number, or any other metric number on its own. Being healthy involves dozens of…

Stress!!!
Lately, work has been really stressful for me (more stressful than usual). I think that stress hits me a bit harder now that I am post-op. I feel more tired, less refreshed in the morning, and dealing with that difficult person in the office actually makes me queasy (and makes eating harder). Maybe I am more confident too,…

Workplace stress. A venting and a call for action!!

NSV - lowest weight since college
Today, I weighed in at 192.5. That might not seem like much, but to me, it represents my lowest weight in 13 years, when I was a senior in college. Truth be told, that old college weight was actually a temporary low that I did not sustain. I had been ill, and lost about 25 pounds in two months. I put it all back on by the…

Convict Conditioning - exercise program
A friend recommended this bodyweight exercise program to me - no gyms, no weights, no machines - you use your body weight in well-described exercises that start off at an easy level and that progress to more difficult forms of the exercise. The writing is apparently very hokey, but the exercises are effective. Also, it is…

6" off my waist in the past month!!
Today, my gold belt was almost too big. A month ago I needed to put it on the biggest notch to wear it comfortably. That's about 6 inches people!!

Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade
I just read about this book, and it got really good reviews on Amazon. Just wondering if anyone has any practical experience with this bodyweight training program, and could offer some suggestions. Thanks!!

Your next milestone?
So, this morning, I hit 198.5. Yes, I am happy to be in "onederland", but I don't have that sense of accomplishment yet. Last year, I weighed 196 pounds (I have gained and lost 30 pounds since then). My milestone is 189 pounds. I haven't been in the 180s since October 2001, and even then that lasted only about a month…

Ideas for small, high protein meals?
Help! I need ideas for meals I can make in advance and freeze or refrigerate in small portions. I've been making one large, high protein, low fat meal, then portioning it out and eating throughout the week. It is getting boring.

How am I not losing weight?
I just had VSG on 6/9. My diet is 2-3 sugar free protein shakes per day, with some sugar free popsicles, broth, water, and 1 cup of coffee with skim milk in the a.m. My calories are about 400 per day. I do some light exercise everyday - such as walking around the neighborhood. How is it possible that I am not losing…

Neat trick with food diary settings
I just learned this from another MFPer and thought I would share with you all: If you go into the Food/Settings, you can change your meal names to whatever you want. So, if you don't do 3 meals a day and snacks, you can do something like this instead: Breakfast Mid Morning Snack Lunch Mid Afternoon Snack Dinner After…

What to do with hand-me-down clothes in CT?
I would love to donate the clothes I grow out of to others who are going through the weight loss process. I usually donate to a local place, but my thought is that we in the WLS world really need some help with clothing as we quickly lose weight, sometimes being in one size for only a month or so. My sister went through…

Weight Loss Surgery in CT
Hi All, I recently had weight loss surgery (VSG) at Hartford Hospital with Dr. Tishler. Wondering if there are any other CT people in this group who have also had some form of weight loss surgery. I go to the nutrition support groups at HH, and they are really helpful. Anyone else? Also, I would love it if there were a…

Getting nervous about surgery on Monday!
I am excited to have VSG on Monday, but I definitely have a case of the nerves. I also am suddenly afraid that for some reason, VSG (which works for so many) won't work for me, even though I am committed to doing it right and following the rules. Aah!! Any advice?

1 week post VSG
And I feel great. Between the pre-surgery diet and being on liquids post-surgery, I've lost 25 lbs in two weeks. I wish someone had prepared me for the extreme nausea post-surgery. Seriously, they pumped me full of anti-nausea meds before surgery and for the first two days after, and I still felt like I had the stomach…

New to the Group
Hi, I'm Kate. I am in the process of working toward VSG sometime this summer. In the meanwhile, I am using MFP to get a handle on my food and exercise choices, and it is really helping me stay accountable to myself. Just thought I would drop a line and say hello :)

New to the Group
Hi all, I am new to this group, and have only been using MFP for 6 weeks now. It has been a great tool to help me stay mindful of my food and exercise choices, and to be accountable to myself. Excited to hear about activities going on in CT! :)
