Strengthening Lower Abs
I have started taking boot camp style classes. On cardio/ab days, there are several lower ab-centric exercises like flutter kicks, in-and-outs, leg raises... My lower abs are extremely weak. I guess having 3 kids had an impact. I can barely do any of most of these. What are some things that I can do to strengthen this…

Weights or cardio first?
I'm beginning a new workout program that calls for 30 minutes of cardio, plus weight training on a specific body part (i.e., shoulders, back, etc.) each day. Which should I do first for best results? I did 2 miles in the heat yesterday before I started the shoulder workout and probably didn't have my best effort. (I wasn't…

Halo Top Intervention
I might need a Halo Top ice cream intervention. I bought 9 different flavors yesterday at Walmart, including several that I had not tried before. I can make each pint last 3-4 days easily. I'll be running with my best friend (an avid runner who's run multple half marathons.) I'm a nervous wreck that I won't be able to run the whole race. Running a 5K is on my bucket list. I want to be…

5K Terror
Running (and I mean running, not walk/running) has been on my bucket list forever. I am NOT now, nor never have been a runner. Yesterday, I saw that there is a Color Vibe 5k near me on my birthday weekend in September. I took that as fate kicking me in the *kitten* to just do it. I went on Facebook last night and posted a…

Mother's Day Gift "Success"
I wasn't sure where to post this, but I consider it a success. :) For Mother's Day my husband and kids got me a Ninja Pro for my protein smoothies and a new pair of Ryka studio shoes for Zumba. I count this is as a major success in the support they're showing my new lifestyle changes. I've been trying to eat healtheir…
