Are 1200 calories a day too few to consume?
I'm getting mixed messages. This site tells me that's how many I should have. I read elsewhere that 1200 calories per day is too few, not only in order to get proper nutritional benefits, but that it might make losing weight even more difficult as my body goes into starvation mode or something. What is the truth?

How many calories must be burned in order to lose one pound?
I'm trying to get an idea of how long I must spend on the treadmill, and how often, in order to lose one pound a week?

I love all the advice and support I have received. I will temporarily adjust my caloric intake until Monday when I have a professional dietician do a complete body mass check to determine how many calories I need. It's good to know that if the answer is 1200, that I am completely able to do that. Thanks again!
