So what do you do...
When you are used to medicating your stress with food? Not just your run of the mill stress...news that your best friend who has already suffered so much physically, is now facing leukemia? A friend who first appeared in your life when you needed them the most? A friend who lives 10,000 miles away? I've hit the nachos and…

"Mom, your butt looks smaller."
I would rather hear that than get flowers! About 3 weeks ago, I decided to get serious about walking 10,000 steps a day. Some days, it is hard to finish, but I am determined to reach that goal, every day. In the last 21 days I have walked over 80 miles! After hearing my most favorite ever child utter those words, I…

Fast Food...Yuck!
I hadn't eaten anything from fast food restaurants for several weeks...until tonight. Ended up eating 1/2 of a poor excuse for a Rheuben sandwich. Didn't have too many options, given a family member had an emergency surgery, and the hospital cafeteria was closed. And the "fries"? All I could taste was the greasy fat. Ugh…

Well, I went a little beserk this past week...
After 8 weeks of behaving myself and only losing 7 pounds (yeah, I know...not all that bad), I hosted a pity party for myself, and went a bit crazy. Had a couple whiskey and cokes, and ate 1/4 bag of Cheetos. Could have handled more, but sanity prevailed. :) Anyway, 2 days later; and I've dropped an additional 2 pounds!…

Good brand of socks?
Any suggestions for a decent brand I can try? My socks seem to want to bunch up under my feet when I'm walking. Thick, thin makes no difference. Doesn't matter which shoes (New Balance/Sas) I wear. I have a very high arch, so maybe that is the problem? I am also diabetic, so I have to make sure I get good circulation.…

Broccoli Cheese Soup
I had been craving some cream of broccoli soup, so I decided to give it a shot with what I had in the fridge. It ended up being under 200 calories, even though I used a bit of half and half, along with regular cheese. It was so tasty and filling, I thought I would share. These veggie amounts are just an estimate. 3/4 cup…

Cooking with oils
I pan fried some breaded tilapia for dinner. I simply have to have it crispy (I know, I'm weak), so I cooked it in about a tablespoon of canola oil. I read at a different site that one can assume about 10% of the oil is absorbed by the food when frying. There was plenty of oil left in the skillet. So short of measuring…

Has anyone tried the Debra Mazda's Shapely Girl videos?
I'm looking for a beginner's low impact aerobic/cardio workout. I've seen previews of "Let's Get Moving" and "Fit and Fabulous". Both look like something I could do until I build up to something a bit more intense. Not even close to trying any of Jillian's yet. Maybe some of you have other suggestions, as well. Please be…

Well, I saved back enough calories ...
to have a Bud Light tonight! First time in several weeks. Tastes even better when I don't have it very often. Lost 2 pounds this week...sort of a mini celebration for moi'. :drinker: Cheers and a happy weekend to all!

Strawberry Smoothie
I am a bit short on calories today, and started digging around the fridge. Found some Kroger Carbmaster yogurt. I threw it in the blender along with 5 ice cubes, 4 strawberries, 2 ounces of skim milk and a packet of Splenda. I ended up with a 12oz treat. I'm gonna try peach next. I couldn't believe how tasty it was. And…
