The approx weight you change to 1.5 loss per week
I'm currently on plan to loose 2lb a week. I know it's different for everyone but I've seen a good few posts where a small piece of text has been copied and it generally says when you should be loosing 0.5,1.0,1.5 or 2lb a week depending on your weight. Can someone post it here please

Is protein powder needed if I don't want to build muscle?
I'm a female with no intention of bulking out. However, I'm wanting to go vegan on a (temporary) 1,200 a day diet. I know there's plenty of vegan body builders that don't take supplements, but of course they are eating in surplus. No doubt that hitting protein goals can be done but it's near impossible on 1,200 cals a day.…

How important is splitting up muscle groups in days?
I'm still a gym newbie but everyone seems to have a plan. They'll do certain muscle sets on certain days or switch up between days of cardio and days of weights, but I'm not one of these people. I go every day, about 25mins on cardio and 35 on the weights machines, but I have no pattern or plan at all. I'm obviously not…

Weights question .. Which is more efficient?
So when I go to the gym I'll generally lift 3 sets of 10 on all the weight machines. By the time I get to my last few, it's hard, really hard. But would it be more efficient to up my weight 10 or 20kg and only do 1 set of 10? I'm a female by the way, mostly interested in loosing fat and toning over gaining strength -…

Changes in sleeping after starting the gym
I used to sleep 8 hours, flat out, every night. Now I've started the gym it's much closer to 5 or 6. I don't have trouble getting to sleep (usually because I'm knackered from the gym!) but I'll naturally wake up a few hours later and not be able to get back to sleep. I can't think of anything else that has changed, but…

Protein pills for women?
I'm turning vegan, and although hitting my protein goals is possible, it's hard work especially with the restricted calories I'm eating right now. I've just started the gym so I guess I do need to be hitting my goals. Everytime I look up about protein pills/powder, it just comes up with bodybuilding for men. Is this still…

Is the aim to hurt after a work out?
I've just joined the gym, from doing absolutely no excersise at all, ever. I'm doing an hour 3 times a week, but wanted to know if the aim was to ache the next day?

Should I expect to gain weight after joining gym?
I'm starting to go to the gym. Which is amazing as when I started MFP about 25 days ago there wasn't a hope in hell that I would step foot in one, just from lack of confidence! Anyway, I wanted to know, should I expect to put on weight from gaining muscle? Or will the fat burn off much quicker than the muscle will come on…

When did people start to notice you loosing weight?
I've stolen this question that's a few down the board but it was aimed at tall girls. Well, this is just at anyone! I'm 200+ lb. lost 14lb and one person noticed but not my partner or best friend can see a difference yet, nor me. I'm hoping by the time I've lost 28lb that I'll be able to notice a bit more! How much did you…

Hard fat vs soft fat
Purely out of curiosity, what's the difference, if there is any? Sometimes you'll see big people who seem to have really solid fat, especially on their stomachs. I guess I see this more in older males more than anything. And then there's other who have "soft" or flabby fat. Why?

Raising from 1,200. How much & how quickly?
Im starting at 1200 a day as I have a lot of weight to loose. Around 90lb, well about 75 now, but as I get closer to my goal weight I'm going to want to increase my calories. How quickly should I do this? Should it be about 200 calories at a time?

How close do you get your nutritional percentages?
Do people aim to get it spot on? Because I don't think I ever have. Usually my protein is 2/3% under and my fat and carbs a little over. And is the percentages the same for everyone or does MFP calculate personal ones?

1,200 - but what if you're eating good food?
I know the general consensus is that 1,200 is far too low for the majority of people. But is this still the case if somebody is eating a great diet? This would consist of no "treats" but tonnes of veg, nuts, seeds, pulses. I find when home cooking a meal, it's so easy for a BIG meal to be under 400 calories when all the…

What weights shall I start out at?
I'm planning to buy some dumbbells but have no idea and what weight I should start at? I've read that females are fine to lift heavy, rather than long sessions of tiny weights so id prefer to go straight in with that. I haven't ever lifted before and I barely excersise so it's all brand new. If somebody could just advise…

Am I ok to replace food with alchohol for one day?
Planning on having a drink tomorrow, I can stay within my calories if I have a small lunch as my drink will total to about 800 calories. Is it best to eat my calories in food with the drink on top so I'm getting the correct nutrition or will it be ok for a day?

If you're fat but cut out sugar, still high diabetes risk?
I'm actually a little paranoid about diabetes as it does run in my family. I'm over 200lb and obviously ate a lot of *kitten* to get here, but now my diet is completely different. I know it's going to take time to get the weight off, but in the mean time am I still in the danger zone? I literally don't eat any "obvious"…

How far in was your hardest stage?
I've only been doing this 2 weeks and just finding it suspiciously easy. I've never even attempted to diet before (god knows why not) but my whole attitude to food has changed, I have no desire to eat chocolate, crisps and coke, I actually enjoy cooking and planning meals, I can go hours without thinking about food (which…

I know it's been asked a million times but PLEASE!!
Caloric deficit. I'm sorry, I know it's been asked so much, and I'm not a stupid person but it just isn't going in. I know it basically means that you need to burn more calories than you eat. But I don't work out, I walk 10,000 steps a day which is only like 300 cal. Apart from that I literally don't do anything. Obviously…

Veggie / vegan friends wanted!
To steal recipes off! Or anybody who has around 40-50lb to loose, for motivation! :)

Do you need sugar?
Before picking up bad habits, I'm wasn't a sugar lover at all. I've now cut out chocolate completely, and don't eat fruit, nor milk, pretty much 90% of my diet is veg, pulses, beans & seeds with the other 10% being pasta, veg stock, or sauces so I assume my sugar intake is pretty low. Diabetes runs in my family and right…

Does portion size still matter if you're under your cals?
From going from 5000 cals a day, I'm now doing up to 1,200 and just finding it surprisingly easy. I'm actually enjoying it and the guilt of logging a chocolate bar is way more than it's worth. I think part of the reason that I'm finding it is also that I'm still having big-ish meals. I wouldn't say big enough to fill a…

Complete exercise newbie. Where to start?!
I'm sure like a million other posts on here, I want to avoid excess skin like the plague. I'm 23, put on 5 stone when I was 18,16 stone now and want to drop 5. Never properly tried dieting before (as used to be able to stay fairly slim without any), but since I started calorie counting im finding dieting a breeze, I guess…

Can you gain/loose fat from your lips?!
Although I've always had big-ish lips, and although I'm not 100%, I'm pretty sure the size of my lips has increased with my weight. Now that I'm determined to get the 5 stone off that I put on, should I expect my lips to shrink too?! Or is it not related at all?
