getting confused on TDEE again
My eyes are blurring from reading and crunching numbers over and over. I'm confusing myself by overthinking things I think. My TDEE: Activity Level Daily Calories Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1601 Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1834 Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk)…

thinking about increasing calories again...
Just looking for justification and encouragement to make this change. It makes sense to me, but it's still always "scary" when increasing calories! I'm 5'2", 127lbs, bf% of 31. A few months ago, I increased my cals to 1500 from 1300 and I did lose some weight. I've been at a standstill for quite a while now, which also…

Polar FT4 weird thing on display...
Today my Polar has a 2 with a circle around it right below the right corner of the time. I looked through the manual and see nothing about it! I used it yesterday and it wasn't there. Any ideas? I cannot figure out what it is and how to get rid of it!

I ran a 15k this weekend!
My first race in over 2 years (due to injury and pregnancy) and it felt great. The longest I've run in 2+ years is 7 miles, which I did just a few weeks ago. I'm so pleased! I even beat my goal of a 10:00/mile pace and ran it at a 9:46. My Garmin Forerunner 205 said I burned 996 calories and my Polar FT4 said 1046 Only a…

what is the best device to use to measure
what is the best device to use to measure calorie output on any given day? I don't ask this in a calorie-obsessed way, but a scientific, curious about my body way. I work PT and on the days I don't work, I am home with my 4 month old. I KNOW I burn more on the days I'm home with the baby and I'm just curious how much the…

HRM/PolarFT4 question...
Please help me figure this out. I've had my HRM for 2 weeks now so I'm still learning. I can't figure out how the "in zone" works. For example: I biked (stationary) for 69 minutes and it said that I was in the zone for 57 of those minute. Max HR was 143 and Avg was 128. Biking is not my exercise of choice, it doesn't "do…

Compression sleeves?
I just got me some compression sleeves for my calves, been having some serious shin and calf pain from running. The package (Adidas) doesn't say how long or when to wear them. Do I wear them all day? When I run or workout? When I first put them on yesterday, I felt a difference almost right away, but then later on my…

an odd question about GPS watches/pedometers etc.
This is very off topic, so I apologize but I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question. My dad wants to use my Garmin Forerunner 205 for when he goes deer hunting. The reason he wants to use it is because he wants to be able to keep track of how far he goes into the woods, when to turn, etc. Is my Garmin the…

how to accurately calculate calories burned?
When I go running, I have a Garmin watch that I use for those calories and when I'm on a machine at the gym, I will usually take about 30% off of the machine total to account for overestimation since it does not ask if I am female, but what about when I do some circuit strength training? I have a program that takes about…

question about metabolism
I am going to do my own research as well, but I thought I'd throw this out here to see if any of you can tell me what you already know. I know that by working out and eating will boost your metabolism and therefore you burn more in a given day, more than just what you burn in exercise right? But what about the days you…

getting very frustrated!
I recently had a baby in June. I started easing into running at 3 weeks post partum, now 3 months later I am running 4-6 miles 3x/week and going to the gym for strength training 2-3x/week and watching what I eat. MFP started me at 1200 (net), but I saw no results. I bumped it up to 1400 and still, 3 months later I've only…
