Welcome to the group, it is a great crowd. I have been neglectful the past week or so but I am glad to see how much progress folks are making.

Hoping everyone is enjoying what remains of summer, it ain't over yet! I got the SO to walk two miles with me yesterday, and then after the gym I knocked out another one, albeit at a snail's pace, just because it was nice out.0

I lost 4 lbs this week! And found some detox tea at work. It's a good day.0

Cool! I thought I lost my ersatz-Fitbit, but then remembered where I hid it.
I'm really not the only person who talks in here, I swear.0 -
Hahaha I believe you. Its the first week of school, everybody is probably busy.0
-
My weight has been going up a bit lately! I've been busy, which means chronic illness prevents me from using my spoons for good food management and exercise, bah.0

Hey! Hit two important milestones this last week, hit 20kg lost and BMI below 30 for the first time in *mumble* *mumble* years. Feeling really great about myself this week, especially when I got told I almost have a muscle!0
-
Congrats @vollans & you too @kaylarenee8910 !!
Had another blip at the start of this month but have been trying really hard again this week. Decided to start running as I'll be moving back to uni next week and won't be able to take my bike unfortunately I feel super self-conscious running by myself but with the gym closed for bank holiday I thought "f*** it let's do this".
Just got back from my first run in the park and managed 4K in 20 minutes which isn't bad for my first time in god knows how long0 -
Just checking in. It looks like you are doing well! I, also, am doing well!0
-
Tacka @ryanp_942. Decided BMI is pants (do I need to lose 13 kilos to be ideal, or 33 kilos? BMI says somewhere in that range) and the body fat scales are useless (24% fat today, over 30% on Sunday, yeah, I've really lost 6 kilos of fat in 3 days...)
So I've booked myself in for a DEXA scan next week to find out how much I really need to lose - and find out how muscle bound I am under all that fat. LOL0 -
Good morning! Another rainy day on the Texas coast! We always need the rain, so, YEA! About to jump on the treadmill, here at work, then COFFEE!
@ vollans DEXA scan? Wow, things have really progressed since I started my journey in 1985! Hydration is key to getting a more accurate body composition. Keep us posted!0 -

Congratulations on your milestones! That's fantastic! "You almost have a muscle!" ha ha.
My wife and I have booked a trip to Disney World in January -- it's going to be a Christmas surprise for our kids. We've never gone, and I'm getting excited. I read online that the average visitor to DW walks 10 miles a day -- that seems like a lot! And I'm remembering how tired I felt after taking my son to 6 Flags for just one day earlier this summer, which was a much smaller park. So that is motivating me to try to walk as much as I can.0 -
Hey my first daily check in! I'm Steph and I've been using mfp intermittently for a few months. This time around is my first time fully utilizing it though. But I am so committed to losing my weight. I'm a little discouraged though because it seems to be happening so slowly.
But today is a new day and a great day for weight loss!0 -
@sappho123 Wish I'd got one at the beginning as well so I could see the progress. But I have got my especially hideous photos, so that's something. There's a couple of places here in Adelaide that do the scans, and I figured that for $89 (or 3 sessions for $190) it's worth doing if I've got any chance of working out what I'm actually aiming for.
@rebolaugh Yeah, made my day did that comment! And HR came to see me yesterday as they were "concerned" that I'd lost so much weight. Oh boy...0 -

I know what you mean, takes seconds to put on but weeks to take off. I'm in the same boat, I've been on/off using mfp, but i plan on sticking with i. I'm hoping to push through my " I've had enough of this" cycle.. I know it's coming.0 -
I am dealing with gender dsyphoria. I am trying to not compare myself to other people. Today was more difficult than usual because I had to get some new clothes.0

Good morning, all! It is a terrific morning! Exercise, then off to work!0

Having a similar issue myself atm. Just moved back to uni and I'm now using a different set of scales than I have been using over summer at my parents' house. I've tested them against each other a few times and my 'new' scales consistently read 1.25 lbs heavier (so I may feel cheated out of 1.25lbs at my next weigh in!)
The problem is my new student house doesn't seem to have any flat surfaces. In one corner of my room I weigh 138lbs and in another I'm 147lbs! I 'should' be around 142.5lbs (based on being 141.25 this morning at home) so I'm resigning myself to finding a patch of ground that I can trust0 -
I think it's one of those things that you've just got to be consistent. It doesn't matter if it's consistently wrong, as long as it's consistent. The scales do not move an inch in our house to make sure it's as consistent as possible. I read an article recently (wish I could remember where!) where a fitness guy had bought a second identical scale so that he/she could have one at home and one at the holiday home, but there was about 5 or 6kg difference between them. It's not very helpful! Seemingly whilst things like blood pressure monitors have standards to meet and do, scales don't.0

Happy Friday! Looking forward to a long weekend! Have a terrific day!0

The smoke finally cleared out of the skies so I went hiking for an hour and a half yesterday. Being stuck inside has made me antsy, yikes. It felt great to finally be free outside. Looking forward to doing more this weekend
I'm excited for next Wednesday. I get a paycheck and then I can do the membership fee for the 24-hour gym nearby! Weight-lifting here I come0 -

I just joined a new gym as well that happens to be a 2 minute walk from my house (so no excuses for me!) I went last night at 'peak' time and it was wonderfully empty aside from 3 or 4 other people which bodes well I may have been a bit too keen though... my legs are very reluctant to walk this morning0 -
Mine's in the basement at work, so I just set off for work a little earlier, get it done first thing - it's nice and quiet at 6am - and then in to my job. It certainly helps make it part of a routine and difficult to avoid.0

Yesterday was my first day back on MFP. I was under my calories for the day but felt grumpily hungry all day. I am sure that will get better as days go by. I am just getting my day started today. I had some breakfast and am waiting on my girlfriend to get home so we can go hiking somewhere new in town.
A little about myself; I am a 26 year old transgender male and I live in Texas. I moved to the Austin area in January and began working for amazon shortly after. Previous to working for amazon pretty much all i did was work out but since starting work in April that has kind of fallen to the back burner. I have put on about 10 pounds in that period of time and would like to get back on track. I don't have the time to exercise as much as I use to but I would like to at least get a routine going. My goals are more muscle gain oriented than weight loss oriented but there is a small amount of weight that I would like to drop. I will be keeping track of my body fat % and paying more attention to that than the scale. Feel free to friend me if you'd like.0 -
It's been a little while since I've checked in...
I've sort of given up on trying to reach my calorie goals because I will do great for a few days, and then there will be that one day where I stayed at work too late and just really want to stop and but a frozen pizza on the way home. I'm still trying to keep track though. The good news is I'm still managing to stay within the same 5 lb range, even if it is a little overweight.
I've been doing a lot of field work this summer, which has been nice because the gear that I could barely lift with two hands a few months ago I can now carry around one handed. So that's one good thing.0 -
Yay for an LGBT group! Hello from Oregon. I'm new to MFP. Me and my wife are focused on losing about 60lbs. Each. We have a 2 and a 4 year old. Now that they are out of the baby years we are ready to focus on us and OUR health again!0
-
Yesterday's hike ended up being much harder than anticipated and it kicked my butt! 2.31 miles; burned 2,002 calories. Other than work today I am taking it easy. Started the day out with 15 minutes of beginner's yoga and working on getting food in my body now.0
-
I'm feeling pretty brilliant today. I thought I still had about 13kg or so to go to *just* enter normal from overweight.
Yesterday I went for a DEXA scan as my PT reckoned there was no way I needed to lose that much. And he's right. Body fat is just over 25%, and I need to lose about 0.5kg of fat to be OK, and about 2-3kg of fat to be good and hopefully get the Android-Gynoid ratio on the right side. Anything after that's a bonus. That's a whole heap better! And even better I discovered my lean muscle mass is sitting at about 70%! Plus the scan revealed that I don't have any deep visceral fat pockets, or "stubborn" areas, being pretty even everywhere, except my right arm... Yup, I have a fat right arm. LOL
So I've spent a chunk of today with my PT going over the results and starting to work out our plan of attack for the next few months, so it'll be a little while longer trying to shed a few kilos, then working on improving my fitness generally as I am now, and tightening up all those wobbly bits that need it, and any further fat loss at that point becomes a major bonus.0 -
Yea, nuttyengineer! So good to see you again! Terrific, notsosecretl... and welcome back! How is Oregon this time of year, becknomad? vollans, hard work pays off! I am joyous for you!0
-
vollans, Lady in the Water (movie) came to mind when you mentioned your right arm....smiling0
