Anyone in the UK use coconut oil?? I'm tempted to try it - but I don't like the taste of coconut (when I say don't like - I mean can't stand it!).

I've read that there are brands that taste like coconut - and others that don't. So if your in my part of the world and have found a tasteless version could you post which brand - so I can keep an eye out.

Look for coconut oil that is refined. The "organic" or "pressed" or "pure" or "virgin" are the ones that taste like coconut, and therefore no good for cooking. I use that type in fat bombs.

The refined variety has absolutely no coconut taste. Its great for cooking eggs and veggies in. It is the number 1 oil for Keto. It also has MCT, a healthy ingredient in it.

In America, you find it where all the other cooking oils are found. Top brands are Carrington and Louanna.

    I hope you find it!

I get my coconut oil from Holland and Barrett in the UK. They stock Tiana coconut oil which does taste of coconut, but it depends what you're cooking: if it's something spicy, you probably won't taste the coconut under it. They also stock Tiana coconut butter which doesn't taste of coconut and that is better for things you don't want to taste of coconut.

I also use my small local natural products shop and they stock Biona coconut oil but I haven't used that yet. I've never seen coconut oil in a supermarket, but obviously they do stock coconut milk and cream.

I have found though that as I've settled into the LCHF way of eating, I've used coconut oil less and less. Just don't feel I need that as a mental boost.

I once tried using coconut oil and olive oil together to make a mayonnaise as per a recipe from Jimmy Moore of Keto Clarity fame...it was revolting. Whereas I love a pure olive oil mayonnaise...so coconut oil is definitely not for everything!

Get mine from Costco, huge tub for £12 ish. Tried it in coffee but prefer double cream and I use butter for frying eggs. Use it more on my hair lol!

I use Optima, it was on special offer in our local health food shop. It has a very subtle taste of coconut, if you cook something bland like scrambled egg you'll taste it but something strong like chorizo and you won't.

I use Biona Organic Raw Virgin Coconut oil. 800g for around £13 and it's unbelievable stuff. fine for cooking with and has a slight coconut smell to it (hardly surprising) but certainly doesn't taste 'coconutty'. I actually use it as a moisturiser as well as it's really good for your skin. can also be used as conditioner and even instead of deodorant! My whole family use it now. The tub has lasted me more than a year with pretty much daily use so it represents amazing value. Got mine from Amazon but I'm sure plenty of other places sell it.
