Looking at today's bottle of wine, I know someone who really likes wine as you do.. my DIL. Could you share the details with me, so I can have one for her next December??? I think she'd like that!

They became available at Kroger on November 1, in limited supply. I was lucky to get one before they sold out as Y had waited a whole week! When I looked for them, they had only two left, at $79.99 each. I quickly put one in my cart, and rolled it around with me while I did the rest of my shopping.

I understand Aldi had one too, but did not see any at my Aldi. Aldi also had a cheese calendar, supposedly coordinated with the wine calendar, so that each night one could have wine and cheese before or after dinner, or with dinner I suppose.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! It's pretty cold now, but supposed to get to a pretty nice temperature later. I have been up for a while, but busy with this and that. Not a lot on the agenda today.

The day 4 entry in the wine calendar is from Merlot, from Chile. I think I will enjoy this one.

    Hey Ed,
Thanks for the wine advent calendar info. I've added Nov. 1st, 2020 to my calendar to remind me next year.
Really do like your new glasses frames! Good job picking the frames. I should take you with me next time I need new frames. (and since I tend to sleep at least part of any given night wearing my glasses, breakage is omnipresent!!!
Its late, but I think it must be nap time..eyes wanting to slam shut!
Put up the mantle greenery..pre lit, and some added bits of berries, pinecones, etc. Bought several many years ago from QVC. Still in good shape. Unpacked all my Santa's and put them on the pie rack, etc. Still need to do the hall table...just a runner and 3 ivory colored wax Christmas tree shaped, battery operated fake candles! Should take about 10 minutes :)

I'm finding out my child has no patience for shopping. YIKES... I think I will start planning more 'solo' shopping events.

Later tonite I will go to the MisFits web site and see what will be in my Friday box of fruit and vegetables! Thinking this may be a lot of fun. Fortunately I am not a picky eater, unless I am required to cook the tomatoes. I just can't get around cooked tomatoes.

If the tomatoes have to be cooked...then puree them and make spaghetti gravy! I will be interested in how the veggies are. I had a veggie (and fruit) delivery in the past from a now defunct group but toward the end of my membership the quality (and correctness) of my pre-selected orders were both slipping badly. One shipment subbed sour lemons for the Meyer lemons I had ordered! They don't look very much alike and certainly don't taste the same.

New driveway still scheduled for first thing Thursday morning! Well, they are replacing the bottom half that they destroyed for the sidewalk...

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Today they are scheduled to finally put the bottom half of my driveway back in, in conjunction with the sidewalk project. I am prepared to stay home. Plenty of food, and drinkable water.

Speaking of water, it looks like they may be moving my water meter today too, based on what they dug yesterday, by the road near it. It looks like they may be planning to have it right in the sidewalk. That would certainly make it easier for access in the future. Hopefully they will let me know before they turn my water off to do that.

Day 5 in the wine calendar is from New Zealand.

    Hi Ed!
Happy Drive and Sidewalk Day! Hope you send pix! Water meter? next to the sidewalk, or under the sidewalk... Oh never mind, I read it again, and now I get it! Yes, it would be handy for the meter reader etc. Do you still have meter readers for the water? I know I do. The gas meter, and I think the electric meter are 'newer models' I see the gas truck drive up the street and round the cul-de-sac, and down the street....would be a boring job, but so much easier than hoofing it up and down all the streets in Gwinnett county!!

I've gotta go back and watch Emmy...looks interesting.

I too am interested in what I will get, how much control over choice of content, comes in my box. Having grown up in a family who had a big garden, I know how to deal with mis shaped veggies and fruit!

Ok, my coffee is cold for the second time this morning, so its time for me to go!

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! The driveway is still curing, but looks great. I am sure that by tomorrow it will be fine to drive on. I saw a couple of the workers standing on it already this morning so it's hard enough to walk on.

Not a lot on the agenda today. I think I will go through some old boxes of stuff from the last move and try to be ruthless with the discards. I wouldn't be surprised to find some boxes from the move before that! We have never been good about going through them right after moving as we should. We are making headway though as we want to turn the junk room into more usable space. Right now one corner of it is sort of usable...

The day 6 wine selection is from right here in the good old USA. California, to be a bit more precise.

    Good Morning Ed!
Did you remember to 'carve' the date, and your name or initals on that new concrete??? :)
Today, Fed Ex is bringing me a box of organic fruit and vegetables. I can hardly wait...though I don't have a choice here do I? LOL!
Did you know you can buy the meatless sausages from Amazon?!?!? I looked at Kroger, where I got the first package, and nada! There were the burgers, but no sausages. I have to wonder if that would be a 'safe' thing to do...like are they packed in gel packs or something. Will have to look into this, also there were some I didn't know existed, like the 'hot sausages', etc. Yep, thought of you

I think today will be a gym only day...or maybe stop for lottery tickets. But no food shopping til I get my hands on my misfits box.

Hope you make some progress on the unpacking of the last move! I still have at least one box, that moved to Atlanta from TN, and ATL to Gwinnett County...I think its full of Jack and Ted's art work. Someday I'll get brave and open it! I hope to find some of Ted's 'student work' from his days in Savannah at SCAD. In particular, at least one of his sketch books, that he painted shut, page by page. He did several of his books that way because of a special event at the High Museum. I threw a fit...so one year for Christmas he gave me one of the painted shut books. :( Its a long story, way too long for here.

Time is flying by....need to get to the gym!

I did not as I preferred leaving it pristine. Apparently a deer and someone not so dear disagreed with that opinion though. At least the deer declined to walk across and cause additional damage. And the driveway has a little character. Literally!

While cleaning out some boxes from our last move (yes, it WAS about 8 years ago...) I found a Christmas time picture of me when I was about 21. Maybe 22, but I think 21. Ah, if only I could go back in time and tell that young man a thing or two...not that he would listen. LOL.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! They rescheduled the move of the water meter to today, so I will have no water for a few hours of the day, but don't know exactly when. I guess they will be here when they get here, if they get here at all. I wouldn't be surprised to have it rescheduled again to Monday but we will see.

Still well on the right side of 200 pounds and hoping to get on the right side of 190, but not in any hurry. After all, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

The wine for day 7 of the wine calendar takes us back to France.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! Not a lot on the agenda today. As I half expected, the water meter has not been moved yet. The workers did come out, and supposedly were waiting for some equipment or materials, but then ended up just digging a bit more at the spot where the meter will be and then moved to the neighbor's yard to do some work over there on her water meter, I think. Probably just digging up to prepare to move it as well. I guess maybe Monday on our meter. They haven't done her driveway yet, but I think they are doing it this week. I was sweeping my driveway and overheard her saying something about Wednesday to the foreman. I already told her that she and/or her daughter can park in our driveway or yard while they do hers, in case they don't want to feel trapped for a couple of days. I often stay home for several days anyway so it didn't bother me at all to be trapped. Besides, there are stores within a mile so walking is always an option if I don't need anything heavy.

Day 8 in the wine calendar is the first repeat of a varietal, but this Cab is not from California. This one is from France.

    Good Morning Ed.
    Sorry for being absent yesterday.
That box of 'Misfits'...what a mess...and not on MisFits end...they sent the goods. Fed-X on the other hand...gets a big fat 'F'! They picked up my package in Ellenwood GA (by the airport) and put it on a truck to Braselton,GA. Have no idea what they were using for brains. I became concerned around noon, did the package tracking thing, and contacted Fed-X. I was assured my package would be at my house by 8p.m.. really?...went to bed about 9:30..still no package...Ted found the package in the morning on the front porch. I got a text that they delivered the box at 11:24p. No knock, no ring...they just dumped it and left.
Spent the day wrestling with that issue.
    Now, about the package:
First off, it has really nice inside insulation, which I believe is recyclable! Score point 1, There was an 'over the hill' acorn squash...soft on 2 sides with mold. It was a small one, maybe could have been a single serve.
4 carrots (about 5-6 inches in length,
1 big bunch of curly kale
1 small egg plant...? need to look thru recipe's for a use. Not enough to make a lasagna, or blend to make Baba G.
2 really nice and hefty yellow onions,
3 small green d'Anjou pears...gonna poach those babies in port..never have I done that...should be interesting.
    2 Huge Sweet Potatoes!
    1 nice bunch of celery,
    3 normal sized oranges...
I think there was something else...my mind has left me...:) it returned...a small head of garlic. Cute little thing!! LOL

All in all, it would have been an interesting box...had it gotten here when it should have!

So, today is catch up with the chores I didn't do yesterday...and of course Gym...and Laundry (my old buddies) LOL!

Making some tofu chocolate mousse...today. The soft silken tofu expires in 3 days. Some things, I actually do pay attention to exp. dates...tofu and anything dairy related I take their word for it...not that I use dairy anymore. The mousse I've made before, its the Whole Foods recipe. And it is super delicious!
Also going to roast some veggies...have carrots, Brussels sprouts, onion, etc.
Also, if I don't run outta steam, a new red beans and rice recipe that has some tasty sounding spices...in the Instant Pot. Nice thing about that, I can sauté the aromatics in the big IP stainless steel pot, and then add the rest, set the cook time and go take a nap...at the end of the cook time, the pot will put it on 'hold', so it will be piping hot when I wake! :)
Today doesn't look very sunny, but not raining either! Mid 50's...works for me.
Oh, yesterday with the help of a nice big can of Black Rust-oleum I painted the end wrought iron side pieces of the yard bench Ted has been restoring for me... :) I even got to use the wire brush attachment on his drill. Never used one of those before...sweet! Cleaned up that wrought iron in no time!

Hope your day goes well...and that your water isn't turned off toooo long tomorrow. I'm sure you've 'stocked' up some large containers of water as 'insurance'...:)

And, probably, might finally have to go without water for a short time today...

And...the fun will continue with 7 days of sparkly wine to bring me from Christmas day up through New Year's Eve. I found this at Aldi.

First picture is the driveway (and deep side gaps) while it was curing) and you can see the yard on one side is considerably higher than the new driveway level. Wouldn't have wanted a wheel to slip into one of those gaps!
    Today they fixed all that!

    Hi Ed
Nice driveway pix, glad they fixed the drop off side of the new concrete! and that you weren't without water for an extended amount of time. (also with the City of ATL in mind, I really hope your new meter is accurate, and your water bills normal.)
Slow morning h ere. I spent hours (well, almost 2 hours) looking for a particular email...and searched everything I could think of...with no luck. Finally emailed Jack and asked would he please resend the missing email...then after he'd done that, and I'd taken care of that business, I thought I'd send him a quick 'thanks' text.....and you guessed it, the link I'd been searching for..he'd sent to me as a text message. :( and LOL!

Sure is gray out side today....and only a very chilly 51 degrees. But with promise of 60 by 6p.m....really? Guess we'll see.

    Ok, gym time...

Ok, so I just watched the Emmy video! Since you're the hot sauce guy...are you wanting to make some of your own hot pepper sauce? Fire Cider. I know peeps that swear by this stuff. I'm somewhat interested. But not being a hot spicy liking person, and I about choked just watching that much vinegar go into that jar....I'm not sure I could do even 2 T. I'd need a pretty sure fire cooling 'chaser' of some sort! I may just have to stick with my flu shot, and my chest cold every 3 years! LOL!!

I watched the chicken nuggets...that's too much work. All of that for a dozen or possibly less of nuggets? Na, I'd have to buy them! I've become the laziest of cooking DIY'er.

Ok, now off to the gym....I need to keep my December challenge going. So far 7 of the 23 days are done! Today will be the 8th day. Once I get past day 12, it will be easier to be 'motivated'. :)

    Later...
