Pam - my mother was a great seamstress - she even made button down men's shirts - but neither my sister nor I inherited any of it.

Jean - good luck with the heart monitoring - 3 weeks - yikes!

I'm going to have grocery store diet frozen food for my meals today. We'll see how that goes!!! The tomatoes are over so it's back to buying vegetables.

Maryanne--I made an easy to sew dress once knowing I had no talent. Never again! Total frustration.

    DREAMSICLE SALAD (SUGAR FREE)

A everyday go to dessert with NO guilt!
Try strawberry jello with strawberries and other favors with seasonal fruit.
    Ingredients
1 - .3 ozs pkg. sugar free orange jello
1 - 3 ozs. pkg. sugar free instant vanilla pudding
1 - 10 ozs. can mandarin oranges, drained
1 - 8 ozs. tub fat free frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions Dissolve jello in 1 c. boiling water. Add 1/2 c. cold water; let /set in fridge for 20 minutes. With mixer or whisk, add dry vanilla pudding mix and beat until smooth. Fold in oranges and whipped topping (by hand). Refrigerate

I can sew but I don't enjoy it. I will do minor repairs if I have to, but sewing on a button or fixing a hem is about the extent of what I'm willing to do.

    That recipe sounds yummy, Jean!

I have DH so convinced I can't sew that he does his own buttons and takes jeans to a seamstress to be hemmed.

That recipe does sound good Jean!!

One of my very favorite adoptive parents is going to take Sampson. The cat whose mom died and his dad brought him back so he can remarry. Good news for little Sampson although he's going to get a new name because there's already a cat named Sammy in the family. But a new name is a small price to pay!

Pam..Maybe you can invest in ear plugs so you don't hear the train each time. Your sister is very talented and generous. I logged my 100th day today. I'm not known for my consistency so I'm amazed I've stick with it.
    Maryanne...What was on today's menu?
Jean..How is school going? Do you have the same kids all week?

Yesterday's menu was grocery store diet food. Mostly smart ones. The smart ones mini burgers aren't bad if you're craving a burger. 190 calories and microwave in 45 seconds.

For breakfast today I pulled out a NS caramel apple muffin. Hopefully it's not so stale that nuking it won't help. NS tuna salad for lunch. NS mac n cheese and chili for dinner!

Sounds like you have a good plan for the day. So far today I had a sandwich thin with a serving of peanut butter, a small banana and a sprinkling of real bacon bits. I love PB and bacon together and just a T of the bacon bits satisfies my craving. I had a quarter cup of chicken salad on a sandwich thin with some sliced tomatoes. Yum. Tonight will be a KC steak with veggie sides.
    Jean...That jello salad sounds great.

Maryanne--I'll check out those Smart Ones mini-burgers. I had the Smart Ones breakfast sandwich this morning and liked it better than the Special K version.

Helene--I've never tried PB and bacon together. I haven't had bacon in the house in years. I just don't eat it except if I am out and it is part of a sandwich.

I'm charging everything now: cell phone, Kindle, and heart monitor. I guess I should charge myself while in the process.

Take my word for it. It's delicious. I buy a bottle of cooked bacon pieces. I got in the salad section. It's a very low calorie count for a tablespoon. Plus it's already cooked.

Well, today I'm going to have a NS cinnamon bun for breakfast, salad with NS tuna salad for lunch and the other 1/2 of my mac n cheese with chili for dinner.

This latest batch of the NS mac n cheese I got recently is creamier. A shame they are discontinuing it. I broke down and bought a few on ebay.

I'm having problems posting on this site. So if I seem to disappear, you haven't lost me, I'm just having problems on the site. Logging my foods triggers and error message. I hope to get that fixed soon. It's soemthing to do with pop up ads.

Helene--Sorry you are having issues. We definitely don't want to lose you. I haven't logged foods lately since for the second time, the site put me back to 0 days of logging in. I had gone almost 3 weeks logging my food and logging in when I discovered I was back to zero again. Apparently, I had not gone to some special page despite my being logged in for the food diary. It doesn't take many of those small things to nip my enthusiasm in the bud.

Sorry to hear the site is having so many problems. I wonder if it is growing pains after their acquisition by Under Armour.

I haven't started my spreadsheets yet. Right now I'm just sticking to a daily format without adding up the calories. Sort of easing my way back in.

Yesterday I had eggs/egg beater with a whole wheat roll for breakfast, just some healthy ones ham at lunch because my stomach was upset (too much cold meds I'm thinking), skinless chicken thigh with 1/2 baked potato and sliced tomato for dinner, and mini bag of chips and mini ice cream in the evening. When I look at the calories in those mini ice creams and think how very much bigger my usual pint serving is it really explains where my pounds come from!

It's amazing that a Pepperidge farm whole wheat roll has less calories and more protein than a NS bagel.

I wonder if there are going to be seasonal NS foods this fall. The home page has prominent photos of several of last year's seasonal foods. That's either a preview or just really stupid programming.

Not much going on at the NS Refugees Board.

I'm working on the raffle mailing. I really need to get it to the printer in the next day or so. We have a flea market next weekend and the biggest cat show of the year the week after. So it will be busy!

I'm really having a hard time using this site. Plus it locks up the other sites I use. I get a message with an 800 number prompting me to call to fix the popup ads. Things like that make me suspicious. That phone number could be anyone and might increase my problems rather than clear them up. I'll probably have to find a computer repair place to fix this mess.

Helene - too bad I can't ship you my IT guy (aka DH). He jokes that he doesn't know how I'd manage without him and he's not far from wrong.

The only IT guy I know is in SC so he's even further than your guy. I did some tinkering with my security and virus protection. I'll have to see if that helps when I go to log my next meal. I've also had trouble on the NS site. I've been trying to update my order since a bunch of things are low inventory or discontinued. I'm thinking this will be my last order and I'll switch to a la carte after that. It's getting harder to find 28 items per meal that I still like.

We had a successful shopping trip on Friday and found a beautiful fabric for my niece's wedding gown. She was very happy with her selection, but noted that "Now it all seems very real", which made me laugh a little. They have decided to go ahead with their original plan of having the wedding at a YMCA camp in California next May, with her mom and I doing most of the catering. However, the menus will be fairly simple and she is hiring someone to do most of the cooking for the reception, though we will probably do most of the prep work for it. The reception will feature a gourmet hamburger bar, so we will prep lots of toppings and condiments ahead of time. The hired help will man the grills and fryers, so we will still be able to attend the festivities without being stuck in the kitchen. The other meals for the weekend will also be simple. We will also be preparing all of the desserts, but most of those can be made ahead of time and we will be going out several days early to do this.

Today I am doing lots of laundry and helping DH get ready to leave tomorrow for a camping trip. I'm looking forward to a week on my own. After he gets back he will have a day at home then we are leaving for a week at the beach. I'm really, really looking forward to that! I need my beach fix, lol!

Pam..It sounds like a lot of positive things going on for you. I'm impressed you and your sister are tackling a lot of the food. Does your niece have some kind of connection with the camp that she's picked it for the site of the wedding? I don't know if any of you ever watch Little People/Big World on TLC. They just had the episode where son Zach and his bride Tori had their wedding on the family farm. It was simple but beautiful. Maybe your niece should watch it. She might get some ideas she can use. Enjoy your rest while DH is camping and have funat the beach when he gets back,

My sister got married at the local Lutheran church camp, at a site known as Upper Temple. Beautiful place. But sort of ironic since I met DH at that camp so had much more of a connection to it.

My niece doesn't have a connection to the camp, but they really want to have a camp wedding weekend so they searched for one near Los Angeles that they could rent that was within their budget. It will definitely be interesting since I haven't been to a wedding of this type before. Apparently, this is kind of an "in" thing now, as is the gourmet burger bar that she is planning for the reception food. We will do a dessert bar with cupcakes, several pies, cookies, and chocolate mousse, all of which can be prepared in advance. We've been told that this camp has an extremely well-equipped commercial kitchen that we will be allowed to use, and we are planning to rent a house in LA for 3 days before we move to the camp. We will do most of the desserts there and transport them to the camp the day before the wedding. My sister and I have cooked together before and usually work well as a team. I think we are both above average in our baking and cooking skills and she has a lot of experience cooking for a crowd as she regularly cooks meals for her church's Wednesday night gatherings. Hopefully, if we plan well and stick to the plan, all will go well. At least we have plenty of time to plan and get organized. We will both be driving out there, so we will be able to take along some of the supplies and equipment that we will need.

I composed a very nice long response to the posts earlier this evening. When I returned just now, I don't see the posts. I guess I forgot to hit the "submit" button but I could swear I saw the posts before I logged out, including a great pic of the moon last night. Perhaps I hit the "preview" button instead.

Short version: Helene--That telephone number on that page that pops up on MFP is associated with an advertiser. It is a method of them getting your money to clean up your computer that has nothing much wrong with it other than their ad. I reported them a few weeks ago to MFP and provided screen shots. MFP investigated to find the advertiser that had this attached to the legit ad. It disappeared for a while. Pam--The YMCA wedding is a great approach and the reception is a great idea permitting you to have more freedom with your just doing the dessert prep.

Thanks for the info Jean. I'll have to try contacting them as well. I don't object to ads but it's ridiculous when every click on a food opens up one of those warning pages. I also have to call NS to delay my order. I have too much food left to get another item. I think this will be my last order. Twelve of my lunch items are on low inventory so I'd probably end up with substitutes. I've made changes but I can't get them to save. I'd be better off sticking with an occasional a la cart order.

I had Smart Ones french toast for breakfast.

When I switch to a la carte, I'll have to investigate some of the Smart Ones anf Lean Cuisines. Jean...Did you ever sign up for that diet plan that used low cal meals available in supermarkets? You had mentioned looking into to it and I wondered if you did it.

Helene--I never did anything with the LC, etc. or supermarket diet. I think it is just common sense to read the nutritional facts and buy accordingly. I do know the LC meat loaf is far better than the NS.

Maryanne--I might try the Smart Ones French Toast. I like something like that at times. I do know the Smart Ones breakfast sandwiches are good, as are the Special K ones.

I delayed my order until the end of the month. I already used a gift card on it and I don't know if that would get messed up if I cancelled my standing order. I figured I get one more and then switch to a la carte. In the meantime, I'm trying to eat into my backlog. As I explained to the customer service rep, at least 12 of my lunches plus some breakfast and a dinner are all on low inventory. Waiting might let them catch up on those sine there isn't anything I want to change them too. In particular, the loaded baked potato is low and I had 7 of those in my order. We'll see what happens.

I'm trying to eat my backlog too. Doesn't that sound funny!

But I also need variety. I had a frozen supermarket day yesterday. Smart Ones french toast for breakfast, Smart Ones fish and chips for lunch (nice change of pace and since even the cats were interested I figure it must actually smell like fish (can't tell with my cold)), LC spaghetti for dinner (with green beans) and Smart Ones sundae in the evening. The sundae was sort of okay.

I admit I look mostly at calories when picking out things like that and secondarily at protein. Not the most scientific of dieters.

I have to drive to the printer today with our next mailing. Had a VERY stressful work day yesterday; I hope today is a little more low key.

I lost my post and got an error message instead. Grrr. I'm still working on the backlog. I had NS chicken salad (no roll) on top of salad and an NS Trail Mix bar. The chicken salad was only 140 calories and I had a GF waffle with fresh peaches for breakfast. That was under 200 calories so I felt I could afford the extra calories at lunch. I mostly have NS biscotti bites lef tin the breakfast category. I like them as a snack or dessert but not so much for breakfast.

I'm having packets today. I unearthed one of those sampler kits from diet direct.

Breakfast - high protein oatmeal with raisins

Lunch - high protein chicken noodle soup with 4 saltines

Dinner - I always make the packet ahead of dinner time because it tends to be dicey to prepare - I managed to blow up the packet from the kit (dang microwave) so pulled out a cheese burger pasta packet to have with vegetables

Evening - high protein pretzels and microwave chocolate cake

There was supposed to be high protein hot chocolate in their somewhere but I haven't worked it in yet

All the packets are very low calorie so you can have quite a few
