Zichab, meh, that really sucks, especially when there's a problem with the car! Oh my.

I am lucky, I have lots of stores within a 1,5km radius and we move next year, there it will even be better, store across the street! Your son is close to me, haha. I live in germany :-)

neonbeige LOL we are Americans so we have to have spare cars. If one has a problem, we have another one. Sadly, we can't get anywhere without a car. And it totally sucks!!! My son lives in Ypenburg and works for Leiden University in The Hague. His in-laws live in Czech Republic so we drove through Germany 2 years ago at Christmas time. I love Germany! It is so clean and orderly. Even the bales of hay in the fields were all lined up neatly and I have never seen such clean restaurants. It's a beautiful country. I wish I lived there so I could see my granddaughter a lot more often ... oh and I suppose my son too!

I seriously did not work out again until yesterday after my first strength session. And today is another round of strength… I am only doing half squats all the way through to see where I am at with the pain. That was such a miserable feeling! I am going into this with a positive mind set! I am going to get stronger. Lol

    gotta keep on steppin!

You ARE strong! You've got a wonderful attitude and that's so key to getting where you want to be. Good on you!

Leslie just about KILLED me tonight...working out at WAH website and was bored, needing a break from Silver Walk
and Women's Walk. Decided on 3 Fast Miles. I haven't done this in forever and it was WARP SPEED from the get go.
I barely managed to follow at half Leslie's pace, but did do some modified mambos and modified kickbacks. Had to
go back to walking more often than not, but did 2 out of the 3 miles. I'm gonna sleep tonight and hurt tomorrow,
but it was SO WORTH IT!!!!!

WTG SUE! Changing it up will hit some parts that haven't been doing the warp speed thing. (That term made me smile.) Hope you aren't sore tomorrow.

    Way to GO, Ann!!!
Actually Sue, it is nice having both of you back with us! Now, we just need to help texasgardnr to pop in from time to time. She is being such a good sister for her brother. All of us will simply have to keep walking and encouraging each other for her so when she comes back, she'll be super proud of us! :+1:

    Walk Strong Everyone

zichab - it's good to be back! I too would like to see Texasgardner posting again. Hope she backs soon.

    Have a great evening everyone!

Hey Bandit...sending up prayers for your dad's recovery. Have you ever been to Leslie's website? Her(free) Walk Social club has 10 videos ready to go. One is the 1 mile in home walk...if you did that getting up in the AM you'd still be able to get in a mile or two a day. :)

Zichab wow, that´s kinda decadent :-D On the other hand also needed I guess. It´s not super clean everywhere, but it is nice. Maybe I am also just used to it :-) I live in Hamburg, which is a beautiful city. You should check it out, when you go to the netherlands the next time to visit your granddaughter, errrrrr and son *hahaha* , it´s not that far. It´s a bit of a shame when your familiy lives so far away...

Bandid Oh, no. I am sorry and hope, you dad gets better!

I did the belly blast today and was surprised, when it ended, I had in my mind, it was a mile more, haha

    Oct 14 - 4.6 miles - 10245 steps (4/15)

Didn't make it outside until after the Blue Jays game - wow what a game!!!

So put away my old sheets that I cover plants with when it gets cold... Some of my annual pots actually look pretty good yet, but it is time to clean them up. Probably Saturday. I did get a walk in with my dog... he was so patient waiting for his walk while I moved a couple more wheelbarrow loads of crushed rock. Every time I headed down the road to the rock pile he would run off as if we were heading out...

Today - heading off to clean up mom's garden... hopefully I don't come home broken like I usually do.

thank you everyone! Dad is making good progress, he will be in rehab until at least Tuesday, then we will see what the dr.s say. I did a 30 minute 2 mile walk today, it wasn't much but it was something anyway. I have a variety of the WAH dvds , so its just a matter of picking one to do a quick walk. If I am in my workout clothes I am going to do more then a mile..lol..

Bandit Oh my gosh! I just read this and I am so sorry about your Dad, but glad to hear he is on the mend. Strokes are scary but it is amazing what they do in rehab now. Sending good mojo his way!

neonbeige It is hard having our sons so far away from us (the other one lives in Las Vegas Nevada and we are in Michigan) but on the good side, we get to take some pretty fantastic vacations! I looked at some photos and did a virtual tour and Hamburg is beautiful and will be on our list of cities to visit when our granddaughter gets older. I love the old European architecture because we do not have anything like it in the states. We kind of missed that whole Medieval period!

Pinky Congratulations on your 13 minute mile!!! You are fast approaching the speed of a runner! Woo Hoo!!! :+1:

bgoddess It takes a while to get back to your former miles & strength when you have been sick so 2 miles of that Dane DVD is great!!! It always amazes me how much an illness takes out of me!

Bandit good to hear/read that your dad is getting better!

@zichab haha, yes. My family is around 200km away (my side), my husbands side more than 1300km - he is italian. But that gives us a nice play to go to in summer ;-) and flights are cheap so he can visit them regularly. But I think if there are grandchildren it's way harder, they grow up so fast! How often can you see them?

@All nice job on the walking!

I did the 3 miles walk from YouTube today. It's a bit slower than the belly blast, but nice.

Right now I am 36/80, ehem gotta catch up!

I have had a week of "life interrupted". *facepalm* Not sure if I told everyone... my mom suffered a double stroke about 3 years ago. She is paralyzed on the left side and has lost her central vision. I am my mother's sole caretaker and some days it is just so very hard. This week I had to take her to the doc to have needles stuck in her eyes to drain off the fluids. Plus I picked up extra shifts from the PT job... just has been crazy along with my sleeping patterns! I have however, managed to nail my calories this week! SO hoping for a 1 pound loss! Hope with the craziness and salty foods, all will be fine!

I plan to walk tonight after work and a short visit with mother. I always take her out on Saturdays. this weekend is going to be a cold one so I am worried about taking her out in the cold. God Forbid she get pneumonia... I will never hear the end of it from my sister and aunt. ... don't even get me going about these two. LOL

@Neonbeige I would LOVE to be able to take my bike to the grocery! I would have to have a pull cart behind me with the groceries we buy! :p

Let's get to stepping this weekend!

Wow, you are all doing great. I've been using the Ultimate 5 day walk plan dvd and enjoying it. I'm at 23/50 and looking forward to getting the new Walking Off the Pounds 3 mile dvd on Tuesday. I'll get back to the 4 really big miles next month (maybe).

neonbeige I so envy those cheap European flights. My daughter-in-law tells me that flying to the Czech Republic costs less than driving there, so she visits her family fairly often. We see our granddaughter in Netherlands at Christmas and on my Spring break from college in March. Then, they come home to the US for the month of July. We also chat with her on Face Time at least once a week. Our children are really good about that. They make sure she interacts with both sets of grandparents as often as possible. It is hard but we are all making it work.

coopsoopc I am so sorry about your Mom' strokes and you can count on this group when you need moral support as her caregiver. I was the caregiver for my mother-in-law when she had lung cancer and you're right, it is very hard. Life interrupted is a wonderful way to put it! Just when you think everything is in a routine, something changes and you have to reorganize life again. Medicare provides some support, but in the end, we are responsible. Thankfully, my husband is an only child so I did not have anyone second guessing me. Right now, texasgardnr, who is our leader and posts the challenge each month, is the primary caregiver for her brother who was hit by a car. I know she has not posted because she is just managing to get from one day to the next as well. Sticking to your calorie goals is a great victory! Enjoy it!

Coopscoopc, WAH stands for Walk At Home, Leslie's official website(that's what I was referring to) and also the name of her program. There is a library of 10 free videos you can use in her free Walk Social walk club(and plenty of other things too) and I found 3 Fast Miles there. It's a pretty cool site-lots of great walkers-I met Texasgardnr over there and she turned me on to MFP and our Leslie group. They have a great support/lifestyle thread, but it's
only five people-we have a much bigger group and I think our roots run deeper.
