    LOL Cheers!! It was 38 degrees this morning. I brought a thermos of coffee with me. I had no need for ear muffs, gloves and coffee after the second mile. I like walking in the cold versus the heat. I also like that most people stay in and leave the park to myself. I tend to sing loud while walking. I have my grandson overnight so I think tomorrow may be a rest day. I have a second goal I am trying to achieve within the next few weeks so I am pushing myself for more miles.

    Yesterday, 0 miles, today no miles. Reason is the med nurse caught me doing Leslie, and since PT had initially said yes to LS but later changed their stance because they didn't know if this is safe for me. I basically had a mini meltdown because of weight issues, circulation, stamina and endurance-I don't see how I can keep all these things stable without Leslie!!! Eventually Jonathan, head of rehab, came in, calmed me down and heard me out- how I modify the workout(substituting glute squeezes for kickbacks, for example), how I let my body tell me what to do
    (if it's really rainy, cold or I'm REALLY tired, I'll pass for the day because the stiffness is off the charts then). I also told him that I'd been doing Leslie's workouts on and off since 2003 and seriously since 2012. He was impressed with that and asked me to give him a few days to set up a meeting for the rehab and nursing staffs. They want to see the program itself, document how I do it and make a judgement on if I am capable to do it safely. The alternative is to have a nurse aide walk me down to and around the nursing station 2-3x once a day. 3x is 900 feet; it would be better than nothing, but wouldn't offset the stiffness and circulation issues the way Leslie does.
    I agreed to skip a few workouts until they have a chance to have this meeting. I REALLY hope that they don't take
    Leslie away from me permanently; that I can use her programs to drop weight and build up strength. Please, if you believe in prayer, pray for me.

    Oh, I forgot Thursday before all this happened, I finally got the stuck DVD player in my PC open and popped in 5DWP. To my own amazement, I did warm up, blue, yellow, green and a part of the purple mile before I needed
    to sit down. 3.25 miles. Whoa... :)

    Pinky and Zichab...you both REALLY hit your goals...FANTASTIC!!!! 7 miles outside is a COMMITMENT on a cold day!!!! But 2.5 miles inside is an equal commitment, and some days that's like running a marathon, let me tell you.

    Coopscoopc, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom's strokes. Being a caregiver is one of the toughest jobs on earth. It's great that you are here and making healthy choices and working out too. As zichab said, we're here to help one another along. Take care and walk, walk walk when you can. :)

    Sue, you make me laugh with your eating dust remark. I'm eating faster than I am walking it seems, haha. Not sure how many days this week I have gone over my calories. I refuse to look. >:)

    October goal - 120 miles - 15 over 10,000 steps.
    Week 1 - 27 miles (2 over 10,000)
    Week 2 - 30 miles (total 4 over 10,000)

    Oct 15 - 4.9 miles - 10714 steps (5/15)
    Oct 16 - 3.8 miles
    Oct 17 - 6.6 miles - 14629 steps (6/15)

    I hope we are finished in mom's yard for this year. And I hope my brothers keep their "stuff" on their own properties from now on. This is the second time we have done this cleanup and they complained about having to do it. So I told them to just not put their "stuff" there and they wouldn't have to move it. 'nuf said!!

    Today ... need to do some outside cleanup, get some perennials planted and some buried in sawdust for the winter. Beets and parsnips to come in.... and the last of the tomatoes to can. Best part... I get to out for supper so I have to be done all this by 5 p.m.

    Pinky Pan - I like walking in the cooler/cold weather too. No bugs...ha ha

    Christchick7 - I hope the rehab people make the right decision for you. If you are feeling good and doing good why would they find any reason to take Leslie away from you.

    Coopscoopc - I hear ya!! Mom's can be so .... My mom lost her vision to macular degeneration and possibly something else as they say you never lose your sight with macular degeneration, you still have peripheral vision and my mom doesn't have that. She is very depressed and negative...and who wouldn't be. Very hard to get out her into a happy place. She has Charles Bennett disease, Not sure of the spelling ...but sounds like Bennett (French). the specialist told her to embrace those happy things she sees, the brain will always feed the eyes happy times. Go figure!!

    Coopscoopc, WAH stands for Walk At Home, Leslie's official website(that's what I was referring to) and also the name of her program. There is a library of 10 free videos you can use in her free Walk Social walk club(and plenty of other things too) and I found 3 Fast Miles there. It's a pretty cool site-lots of great walkers-I met Texasgardnr over there and she turned me on to MFP and our Leslie group. They have a great support/lifestyle thread, but it's
    only five people-we have a much bigger group and I think our roots run deeper.

    I went to the website briefly.... I need to check it out a bit more it seems! I have 2 of her videos I picked up not knowing how great the workouts are... I will definitely check out the website. Thanks!

    Hey Everyone! Got my weight in! I lost a pound... but it's the same pound I have been losing for 4 months now! LOL

    I have also been tracking my workouts since I joined this group... Jeez! I am not averaging consistent workouts... so that's a big issue in all of this. I struggle big with clean eating all the time... but when I do slip up it would be nice knowing that I might be okay as long as I get my work outs in.

    This week I am going to focus on getting 4 workouts in. I need to get strength in every week but for now I think just being consistent with workouts from week to week is going to help me get into the 150s!

    100/100 I could not let the day end without a 2 mile walk to reach my goal. GOAL MET Now for some bonus miles. I have another goal I am trying to reach in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed I make it. Walk strong Walkers.

    Coopscoopc This group helps a lot with consistency. I strength train MWF and am alternating- one week I do a 20 minute warm up walk and then Firm 30 and the next week, Tone Every Zone. My rest days are the two days I am on campus Tues/Thurs and my exclusive cardio walk/interval days are SS. Just having to log them in here so I see them has helped to get me back on track and stay with the plan. I am increasing weights about every 2 months now so it is really working. It really helps to develop a plan for your 4 days because then workouts begin to become part of your day like brushing your teeth or doing the dishes-only more fun :laugh:. Congratulations on the 1 pound loss! Woo Hoo!!! And another one bites the dust!! LOL

    Sue I am having trouble with Leslie's website. Do you have to be on Facebook to see her content? Every time I click on something it sends to me a Facebook log in page and I do not use Facebook.

    Thanks Sue-It may have been the walk social that I clicked on. I kept running into broken links. If they want people to use Facebook, I'll just have to wait until I retire to check to check out Leslie's site :laugh: Brenda

    My new goal is to have walked 2500 miles by my 55th birthday next month. I am have less than 150 miles to do it and I am busting my butt to get there. LOL

    I use the site daily and do not use FB to log in. I use my email address. She has some new walks on there that do not pull up and I have had a problem with being able to have the screen full size for the past week. Other than that I love walking to the Silver Walk, Walk This Way and the 1 Mile in Home Walk.
