The July Challenge

Strengthen your core! :smokin:

Here’s the challenge …

The goal – It’s your choice:

Complete 800 abdominal crunches/sit-ups
or
Complete 800 planks
or
Complete 800 push-ups

That’s a little more than 25 a day!
You choose one of the exercises for the challenge or mix it up.
Feel free to set a greater personal goal. Record your crunches/sit-ups, planks or push-ups on the thread.
Let’s support each other.

You can use tickerfactory.com to create a ticker or just record your daily workout as follows:

7/2 – Rest Day
7/3 – 45 crunches
Total – 90 crunches/ 710 to go

The challenge begins July 1, 2013 and concludes July 31, 2013.

For those interested in doing a plank challenge I recommend this article as planks are not done in reps like sit ups or push ups so 800 reps doesn't apply to this exercise. I suggest doing a set of test planks center and side planks, write down how long you can hold them and that would be your starting point then set personal goals to improve the hold time. Also if you can't start out with straight legs completely off the ground you can start with knees touching and working you way to a straight plank. Remember to "KEEP YOUR BUTT DOWN" and try to do them with a mirror to check your form. A session of planks take no more than five minutes.

I prefer planks over crunches, which can be hard on the low back and generally don't engage the ab muscles completely.

So can we do a combination? I will start with a combination, and work toward mostly planks and pushups
July 1st 10 Crunches (with legs extended), 20 Pushups

LOL, I didn't feel them yesterday, but I feel them now. But I was at a concert last night dancing none stop, so that might have added to it. Great Job !
