Weekly Challenges

Just creating a general thread for this since I realize I didn't before. Please post week one where we started the week 1 challenge.

So week 1 is almost done - one day left to finish your challenge this week! So that means I'm off to the gym at lunch today to get my third elliptical day in... to also work off part of my stupidity from the weekend. Which leads me to my idea for next week's challenge...

Is there something you struggle with on a weekly basis? For me it's overeating on weekends.

So the challenge for week 2 of March is to identify something you consistently struggle with.. and to NOT DO IT (or do it if the issue is that you don't haha) this week!!! Post every single day that you are successful as you crawl into bed. Ask for assistance/motivation to stick to it from the rest of us if you feel like breaking down. Post your goal tomorrow and post until the end of next Monday. Maybe we can even buddy up?

So for me, it's over eating Friday - Monday (since I have Monday off, it's for 4 of the days of this coming week). In general though, I'm saying I need to stick to my goals for the whole week.

Yay!!! 3/3 elliptical sessions done for the week :) Technically one was a cross ramp/cross trainer but almost the same haha.
I'm going to try to keep it going.

We can post where ever for week 1... ... I actually couldn't remember where we posted it to start with... so I put it here. Memory isn't my strong suit sometimes...

    Done 3x challenge!

For this week, challenge is for my average calories for the week to be below my calorie goal. Gotta keep on working on being consistent, especially Friday/Saturday.

1st Weeks Challenge Completed! Just got done with my 3rd 40 minute workout!

    Second Weeks Challenge:
Lately I've been having trouble being at/under my calorie goal and consistently working out so for my 2nd weeks challenge, I will be working out Tuesday thru Saturday and will aim to be at/under my calorie goal each day.

    Week 2 challenge:
While I also struggle with the weekends, I have been allowing myself way too much stress eating the last couple weeks, with yesterday being terrible. So starting today, I am ending the stress eating. This week I will stick to my calorie goal, exercise on my own if the dog can't go, and get back to eating more healthy foods rather than just junk. I am hoping these three goals will help me reign in the stress eating.

Lol, I totally bailed on the challenge last week, and I was the one who came up with it! *facepalm*
I gained last week, hardly worked out and ate like a pig. This is a new week!

Week 2 challenge: Since Ive been stuffing my face like a bear about to hibernate, I am starting to log calories again (I haven't been as I have been working on hunger cues, but obvi failing at that) and shoot for a deficit at the end of the week. I logged yesterday but not Sunday, and will log every remaining day for the week. I will workout at least 3 times this week.

Well, I didn't manage last weeks challenge at all, oops.

Week 2 Challenge: I always have trouble getting as much protein as I should, so everyday this week I will get at least 100g of protein. I probably should be getting more then that even, but I normally only get around 60g a day so this will be a good push in the right direction.

    Under calorie goal!
Didn't work out but really as long as i'm under my calorie goal, it's a-ok.
My goal in MFP is only 4 days so we will see how the week plays out.

Worked out today! Went for a 45 minute walk/jog with my dog tonight, and I was under my calories!

Was over my calories by less than 100 (I blame a change in dinner menu for the overage) which is still much better than several recent days. I also went for a walk with my husband and dog. Still ate too many sweets.

Managed to get 103 grams of protein in yesterday. It was harder then I thought without going way over calories but I will keep it up.

I am also calling yesterday a relative success. I worked out (but did cardio first so I couldn't finish lifting) and even though I wasn't under my calorie goal, I was under maintenance.

So things to do better in similar situations: don't get a McDonald's burrito if I know I'm eating out later since later will bring surprises. Like hotdogs you expected to be 7" long being 14" long instead. And do weights first!

Ok so I am not doing as well as I hoped... I've been about 200 calories over for the last two days... I'm hoping to bring it back into line today! I have my food planned (exact measurements yet to come). Where have also been slacking on exercise but likely because my body needed it.

Wish me luck with the gym and my food today!

Yesterday I stayed under my calorie goal, went for a walk, and ate less candy. I feel good about today.

I managed to get my protein yesterday as well. Though I found my run was terrible. I'm going to see how my jogging goes on friday and monday to see if it was just a one time thing or if having less carbs is effecting that negatively.

I found that since all my snacks have to be concentrated around getting more protein I'm feeling deprived and I ended up eating all my exercise calories in chips and chocolate when normally I wouldn't eat more then a hundred or so. I'm going to keep it up, but this interesting to see how I react to the different macro spread.

I had a killer headache yesterday (allergies??) and barely made it through the day. Working out was not an option. Was under my calorie goal though, so that is good :) Even had ONLY 2 thin mint girl scout cookies, even though there was a whole sleeve to eat :o

Getting a haircut today-yay. Took out some candied nuts to eat, then but them back after I thought about whether or not I really wanted them. Making good decisions today!

Heheh is it bad that I always hope for a bit of a drop in weight when I get a hair cut?

    I hope you're feeling better!

My boyfriend surprised me with a date night tonight and took me to pizza hut and now we are getting ready to watch a movie together so I'm way over calories haha and won't be working out since once the movie is done we will need to get to bed to wake up early tomorrow so I'll kill it tomorrow!

Ah, I finally made it under my calorie goal today. It was a rough day. There were a lot of treats - cookies, doughnuts, oatmeal. Too much on that side so I'm feeling a bit hungry, but with being marginally over days 1 - 2 and the weekend coming upon me, I really need to crack down. I did rediscover the distraction of doing my nails. I forgot how time consuming that can be (which is good for boredom eating).

@WifiresGettingFit it's so cute you were surprised by a date :) it's okay to splurge once in a while. It's one of the reasons we work so hard to get healthy - so that when those moments come, we can enjoy them and we will have more of them over time.

@VeryKatie Way to go on being under calories! I need to crack down as well and find something to distract me because although my appetite was increased yesterday (thanks to being a woman haha - seems to happen every month now) some of it was probably from boredom.
I love oatmeal! That stuff keeps me full for 4-5 hours depending on how much I have. Right now, I'm using the Quaker Instant Packets with Dinosaur eggs that turn into little dinosaurs once the hot water reaches them and it has a little bit of brown sugar! I couldn't pass them up. haha
Yeah I really enjoyed myself and although I knew I was going to be over calories (I actually would have been in maintenance had I not done quite a bit of snacking before my boyfriend got home thinking we were staying in to eat - already had it planned out), I really didn't care because my mindset has changed a lot over the past couple months (and actually years) For me, it's a lifestyle change so it's just part of enjoying life and I'm not going to miss out on stuff just because I'm trying to lose weight especially a surprise date night! (but I am also aware that I can't let it get out of control to where I'm losing the same ten pounds over and over.) :)

There are oatmeal packets with dinosaur eggs??? Where do I find these???

@WifiresGettingFit a suprise date night sound like the perfect excuse to splurge. We have to value those moments as they happen.

I am now inspired to do my nails this weekend. It has been a while since doing them and sounds like a nice treat.

Yesterday I accomplished all of my goals - stayed within my calories, went for a walk, and ate less sweets though still too many. I was strongly tempted to emotional eat yesterday, so this was a big victory for me and this challenge helped push me through those feelings. Thanks for the support ladies!
