@1skholloway LOL I'm going to be 50 these guys are in their 80's I wouldn't give them house room.
So I did the screen door and I used an enamel and of course i got it all over me I hate using mineral spirits so I thought try something else and if it doesn't work then use the crude in the can that stinks. I used soap and epsom salts used it like a paste and it worked and slowly added water. I was doing a dance in the bathroom. I smell nice too not like gas.0 -
@1skholloway how goes the flooding where your neice is? Has she been able to get back to her house? I have been completely unplugged from the world it seems and was only aware of the flooding yesterday when we were in the car coming home. Hope things ease up soon, but weather wise, it doesn't look promising.
@JanolaBarbara so glad you were able to walk but also glad you are taking things slowly. I so worry about my knees and though I haven't had twinges in a while, I'm scared to do anything other than walk/strength training until I get more of this weight off. Certainly don't want to have to stop being active just as it has become my habit and Chris is doing it too! Great work! What sort of snacks will you be making for company? I would be eating and tasting. That's my downfall. Another reason I don't think I can stay home much. Snack city!
@2020pinktogo You have lots of tasks for vacation. Sounds like you are going to be able to make it work by staying busy and avoiding binging. Great job. Too bad about not finding pants. I need to find some also as I now have 2 pair of pants I can wear to work. rest of the time it's dresses and though I enjoy them, I don't like the extra leggings I have to wear to avoid uncomfortable thigh chafing. EEEEKKK. I hope your husband appreciates all the work you will be doing on your vacation.
@NewOR2015 So happy for your rain. I have several friends/family in San Antonio area and both have stated that they have seen about 3.5inches as of Sunday (I think that was the Facebook post) and since the area was apparently down about 5 inches so feeling pretty happy for that area. So weird how rain works, isn't it. Areas that really need it, nothing, then lots of flooding elsewhere.
@CaptainBoing Wow, so sorry you had to work through your cold. That definitely makes it last too long. But I understand your work ethic....someone has to do it, right? Also exciting to hear about your workout plans....ocean swimming competitions and chocolate for beating competitors sign me up!! My husband and I met on Match.com 14 years ago. completely psyched that you are currently happy with your find!
My run did NOT get cancelled. Chris and I completed it and the weather was perfect! about 80 degrees and though the sun was burning down, there were lots of shaded areas too. The bad part of the weekend was getting to hotel late and believing the A/C would eventually cool down the room and make it less humid. IT DIDN"T. So we finished the run, got back to the hotel both showered and were out of the room within 30 minutes. AND we got refunded money!!!!!
It's a new week and I'm praying I continue to focus on my training despite not having any scheduled runs. I may have to keep them scheduled in order to make myself work on it. Hopefully not, now that Chris is on the workout train too!

@1skholloway Ok I would die if someone told me to eat something different every day. I go months at a time eating the same thing every day. the only time I do eat something different is if my husband makes it and I feel guilty not eating it but I miss the routine of what I was going to eat.0

As you all are my sounding board I have to tell you this challenge I was in I just unjoined it. The woman criticized people who gained weight so I didn't log my weight gain 2 weeks ago. Today I did log my weight loss that has stayed off and said in the challenge period I had lost 7 lbs. As I had gone up and down those lbs over and over. Well she emailed me and reprimanded me that I had not lost weight in fact I had gained weight yada yada and I am to inform her when ever I am not going to post my weigh in's. OMG You got it folks I did the Click I am out of here. Thanks for letting me vent.0
-
@CaptainBoing -- Sorry about your cold. I hate being sick. Hope you are back on your feet and kickin' butt soon! Thanks for the info about your knee. I have my initial appt with an orthopedic surgeon on Wed; I am so looking forward to find out what's really going on with my knee. I feel like my life is on hold right now. Of course, that's not true, but that's how I feel.
@1skholloway -- Love how you are all set for meals this week (and in case of the zombie apocalypse XD). I do meal plan for the week, but not to the extent you do it. I set a menu and go shopping just once. It takes time, but then it frees me up for the rest of the week. I also try to eat a "rainbow" of veggies and fruit, but sometimes it seems like all I eat is spinach, zucchini, and tomatoes.
@2020pinktogo -- Yowza, hot mamma! Awesome NSV! I didn't do any gardening yesterday. Instead I did some calisthenics, including arm stuff. When I do go outside, I do pick some of the more obvious weeds. I need to do more, though.
Tonight is our party. I am baking bread, making a zucchini spread, and some hummus and veggies. I also made a sangria. I will watch my portions. I have saved up about 800 cal for the night. I hope it's enough!1 -
@blitzbis -- Whooohooo!! Congrats on having another run under your belt!! Too bad about the A/C, but at least you got a refund. Ugghh... you are so right. I am terrified I've done some horrible damage to my knee. But, I am trying to stay positive. No use borrowing worry, right?1
-
@blitzbis Ok I know this sounds really weird but thigh chafing put deodorant on your thighs. I'm serious I use the stick of non white residue and then my legs don't rub they're very happy. Plus you can never have too much powder fresh scent on you. LOL0
-
@2020pinktogo I can't believe someone is that crabby on a challenge. Well, actually, I can, the GAme of Thrones (isn't that where we "met") i was that crabby person reminding people to log their workouts, but never would I have put people down. Maybe some people work well that way, but not me. One of my previous bosses would make it seem like my job was on the line anytime I would hit a stumbling block. Don't have that boss anymore. I"m glad you vented and most importantly that you got of of that challenging challenge!
I am definitely going to try the deoderant thing. How long will it work? I just hate wearing spanks or the like. I have actually gone to wearing biking shorts from time to time as they are actually a bit cheaper. But it's still another layer you have to deal with.
@JanolaBarbara the snacks sound amazing. Glad you banked some calories for the evening. Enjoy!0 -
@blitzbis according to my mother I am a piglet in human form as I don't sweat but I do have the chub rub thing so it just makes things glide better. There is also the holy grail it's called Body Glide that runners use. My one girlfriend goes back and forth between the deodorant as it's invisible and the Lady Anti Monkey Butt but that's pink as it has calamine lotion in it. It lasts all day for me but my girlfriend reapplies at lunch she says she has more chub plus she calls me the human popsicle. I will admit I have a circulation disorder. LOL0
-
Must be nice not to sweat. I sweat in the summer when it's hot, and I sweat in the winter when people turn the heat up. I learned a long time ago to dress in layers.
It rained most of the day today, and there's a flash flood watch through tomorrow. I did a lot of walking indoors and stuck to healthy eating for a change. I'm trying to get in a good place before school starts again so that I am strong enough to fight off any germs the kids bring in. The beginning of the school year is always tough.1 -
I'm trying to get stricter with my food. I keep getting side tracked. I'm basically on maintenance now although I want to drop a few more kgs before I maintain at fighting weight so I don't have to drop for competitions. My new plan is to cut out snacks and just go for three meals a day. I eat pretty standard food every day, but there is space for flexibility. So breakfast is oats and fruit but what I add and which fruit changes. Lunch is protein (normally eggs), veggies and fruit. Supper is protein, veggies and sometimes I will have sweet potato.
I balance the fruit and veg situation by buying two or three kinds at a time and trying to ensure I buy different kinds each time. It is so expensive to buy individual portions and I am on my own so I limit to the few kinds I buy each time. I get variety over time! Except bananas, I always have bananas as they stop me cramping at Jui Jitsu.
So proud of my friends little boy who got his yellow belt for Brazilian Jui Jitsu last night. He trains with the adults and the kids because he is much older than the other kids (he is 12). I love training with him and his mom is one of my best friends so I get to hang out with him all the time. He also competes in the competitions with its so we have great Road trips together. He is one of my favourite people and he has worked hard for that belt.1 -
@2020pinktogo thanks for the extra info. That's hilarious that your mom calls you a human piglet. Mine used to call me a goat as that is apparently what I smelled like when i would come in from playing as a child. Thank God, deoderant works well!
@NewOR2015 It's still raining here as well but we don't have the flooding that Louisiana is having, thank goodness. I'm so tired of my elliptical. Ready to get back outside for a bit. I was actually able to walk in my park yesterday after work and got back just before the rain started again.
@CaptainBoing sounds like you have an awesome diet regimen. I love me a good sweet potato. Baked with a dab of cinnamon. Delish! Great work for your friends' son. That is a great achievement and I know his mom is proud that he enjoys being fit and active.
Going out with friends tonight and have set aside some extra calories for it. I'll make sure I log everything even if I don't want to see the end results. Hopefully, I'll be able to go for another walk today prior to the evening out.
Take care all!1 -
yeah I took mom to the mall and I literally turned purple. I know why I don't like to spend the whole day out in public. OY0
-
@2020pinktogo I don't get it...Why did you turn purple?0
-
Too much air conditioning lips, hands ,arms I have poor circulation and it's not like I could abandon my mother and race around the mall. Though as she was looking at things I was doing a lot of moving around. LOL0
-
okay, i get it. I forgot you were the cool one.0

Hi all! Thanks for your concern about my family. From what my mom has heard, we think my niece's home didn't get water and she is back home. All my family seems to be doing well with the flooding and have no damage. I heard that I have a 2nd cousin who lives on the Amite River whose home is flooded. This flooding is super bad from what I hear. I can't imagine how bad it is. I learned in the spring that looking at photos is sad but seeing it in real life is awful. I didn't see the worst of it either. In N Louisiana we are getting rain every day but we aren't experiencing flooding PTL!!! It's an inconvenience but we can deal with it. No complaints!!!!
I have been eating different foods this week and it's okay but budget wise I will have to plan better to make this work. I get paid once a month and try to do most of my grocery shopping once a month. I have also been doing some updating at home and spending extra money for that so money is a little tighter. I have found that eating different foods is okay as long as I can plan in advance.
I am still losing weight. I reached 80 pounds lost today. I was able to fit in size 12 pants this morning. People are starting to tell me not to lose anymore weight because I look good where I am. I know they are telling out of concern and I appreciate it. I tell them thank you for their concern and that I am under the care of a doctor. What they don't know is that I weigh 170 pounds. I don't look like I weigh as much as I do. I am under the care of a general doctor, a psychiatrist, a counselor, and a trainer. None of them have told me to stop losing weight. According to the BMI calculator a woman my height (5'6") should weight 155 to be within the normal weight range. I don't totally put stock in the BMI calculator. I don't think I will get down to 155 because I think I will look too thin. I don't know when I will stop losing weight. I am trying to start firming up and this week I am lifting weights more. I expect to start maintaining or gaining weight as I lift more. The trainer thinks I should continue to lose at least 1 pound a week. I am still eating 1200-1300 calories a day and it's a balanced diet.
@2020pinktogo regarding your male attention, I guess I have been single too long. I take male attention wherever I can get it. I would probably laugh and keep moving but I would enjoy the attention you received. Regarding the challenge group you left, I agree with the others. I'm glad you quit the challenge group! I think MFP is supposed to be an encouragement and helpful! I have quit joining challenge groups. I like the idea but I end up not following the challenge to the letter and I feel like a failure and I get discouraged and I quit. I find that I don't follow rules well and I do better doing my own thing. I guess I'm a rebel. I am southern. I use the deoderant on my inner thighs as well and it lasts all day when I wear a dress. I haven't tried any other products. I read that a doctor said to use other products because deoderant will dry your skin out but I wear dresses only once a week so that's not a problem for me.
@blitzbis congrats on completing your run! I think you are motivated enough that you will continue training without scheduled runs. The results of your training will keep you motivated I would imagine.
@JanolaBarbara I hope your party was fun! The food sounds great!
@CaptainBoing it sounds like you have your food plan figured out pretty well. Eating a variety of fresh food is expensive. Our Wal-Marts sell a bag of mini sweet potatoes that weigh about 100 grams each. I like that size.
I must get to work now. I hope you all have a great day!
Susan

@2020pinktogo how funny. I can see you walking around in the mall in a parka while everyone else is in shorts and tank tops!
@1skholloway my goodness. 80lbs? that is amazing. Keep up the good work. Sounds like you are doing it in a very healthy way. I LOVED working with a trainer. They can definitely help with the toning etc. I know we all get used to what we have to, but I don't know if I could handle getting paid just once a month. That takes some planning, you are right. Glad family is ok.
My interim psychiatrist is in the building today and attended his first treatment team meeting. It flowed much better than we thought it would (our previous psychiatrists would just read our treatment team notes and then be see patients and sign treatment plans). There is a part of me that hopes he becomes our permanent doctor since we have now been through 4 in 7 months and the patients are getting tired of new doctors and I can't blame them.
Oh well, I did pretty well last night with friends. Went over my calorie intake but I'm ok with that. I tell myself that I didn't eat as poorly as I used to and that makes me feel better.
Hope everyone has a great day!1 -
@blitzbis show yourself some grace. You realize what you did and you are back on plan today. That's probably healthy to learning to eat in the real world.
I don't have a private trainer. He comes with the gym membership. He is very good though.
Eighty pounds is good. It's also embarrassing that I allowed myself to get that big. This is the second time I have lost this much weigh. Last time I lost over a little over 100 pounds. So although it's good, when I start feeling proud, I remember these things and things get put back in the right perspective and I don't get too proud.
By the way, I don't know if I have told y'all but I have chronic depression that's why I see a psychiatrist and therapist. I was diagnosed with it about 17 years ago but I feel as though I have had it since I was a teenager. It is usually under control with medication Praise God for anti-depressants and hormones!!!! About 2 1/2 years ago I finally found a therapist who works well for me. I have made great progress with her.
So I ate lentils for the first time today. They were better than I expected. They tasted like they were seasoned with black pepper they were not. They would be really good with some diced tomatoes, and sauteed onion, garlic, and bell pepper maybe in a soup. They are high in calories but they are packed in protein and fiber.0 -
So I did lots of things today. I met my daughter at the dentist to do a swap of stuff and then I figured as she was running late I would update her insurance. So when She pulls in and I go I already updated your insurance she's like Oh yeah that paper is somewhere in my purse forgot all about it. She get's so much like the absent minded professor I swear.
I went for a walk with mom.
stained the porch
My brother is looking for his record albums from 30yrs ago. Thank goodness he isn't blaming me for them not being around. He's blaming my sister.LOL Yep my sister took them. My sister goes if you didn't have crap taste in music he'd be blaming you. I said to my mom he actually took them when he picked up my parents turn table and has probably ditched them all. One thing my brother has is a terrible memory. I am really glad that our taste in music is different. LOL0 -
WooHoo! Congrats on losing that much but also on keeping it in perspective. It is an achievement but all achievements do need the right perspective.
I also have a team of people who help me in my healthy lifestyle. They include fencing coach, Jui Jitsu coach, currently waiting to add a new judo coach, physiotherapist, chiropractor, various instructors at gym, knee rehab guy (I think the right term for him is exercise physiologist. We use the term biokinetesist, but it is a South African term. He is basically a specialised personal trainer who is focusing on correcting things that caused or resulted from my knee injury.) I also have an orthopedic surgeon and a neurologist but I hope not to need them again! My general doctor is great as well, when I need her and the dental technicians got me a really awesome gum guard to help prevent future concussions. We can't be experts in all fields, but we can work with people who excel in various fields to help us achieve the goals we set. Luckily I only call on most of them when I need them because my budget would not fit them all every month!0 -
@1skholloway Awesome weight loss! Congratulations. I, too, lost a lot of weight before and gained it back. This time it's a much slower ride, but it's a lifetime change I'm going for not a quick fix.0
-
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement ladies!0
-
Well, I darted out to my little park earlier thinking I could get a walk in prior to rain returning....alas, no. But, thankfully the park supplies plastic bags for cleaning up after dogs and so the phone and earphones were safe as i completed the walk. Now, my clothes and hair are wet due to rain...and some sweat. But i got the workout in!0
-
Yeah for poop bags LOL Mom and I walked the park too. Then mom decided to run to the store she did really well til she saw reduced choc chip cookies. She got those too. Hey when you are in your 70's my thought is eat whatever you want. She isn't overweight so if she wants a cookie go for it.0
-
@2020pinktogo I agree. I remember when my grandmother was going into a nursing home at the age of 87 they wanted to put her on a no salt diet, have her quit smoking and I think they even talked about a plan to "fix her drooping eyelid". Really, people.0

Today I looked like one of those clown cars where you just keep pulling things out of the car. We bought a recliner and then some fencing for my parents house. I have a scion xb and I am the mad packer if you could have seen these men watching as I started the rolling of the vinyl fencing. Guy comes up to me and goes little lady you can't do that. I'm like why not? He couldn't tell me why so I continued on and I got it all in. My Dad laughed and said Oh she can do it it's how she got the last load to my house. Granted load one didn't have a recliner but I got it all in as I didn't want to make another trip. I shut the door and away we went.
So I just got home and now I need to get on my crude clothes and put on another layer of stain on the porch. Hope everyone had a great day.
I did stay away from ice cream as I couldn't figure out a way to pull over the car to get it for dad and I. LOL0 -
Happy dance I got to take my daughter off my car insurance. 2. I questioned why our bill was so high and I guess they figured we might be looking into something else as suddenly they gave us a better deal. YEAH!! Plus I think the porch just may be complete with this last coat. I think tomorrow I may try to attack those tree limbs and see if can get them down.
Hope everyone had a great day!!!0 -
I went to the chiropractor yesterday because my shoulder was getting really sore and tight. It was actually pulling my shoulder blade out of alignment so my arm appeared shorter. He fixed the arm length thing but said we have lots of work to do on my spine. A result of bad posture over years and connected to the concussions I got in February. Typical, my 6 month recovery is basically over (10 days) and I find out more problems. At least it won't stop me going back to training and I can start working on the posture! I did however wake up with a horrible headache, although he did warn me that I would feel bad today. Urgh, no training this morning...0
-
@2020pinktogo Isn't that a great feeling when you feel you've won (car insurance)?
@CaptainBoing I wonder if legs work the same way. My hip feels sore at times, and I think my left leg is shorter than my right.0
