Good Morning Team 6 and welcome to an amazing challenge. I will be the captain for team 6 this race! I am so excited to be leading, what looks to be a wonderful group of people. So I am going to start out the morning with challenge 1.
My name is Jennifer, you can call me Jen for short though.
This will be my third "Amazing" Race challenge and believe me, if this is your first race they do a great job. We learn a lot of new things, try a bunch of new exercises, and definitely challenges us to strive to do more.
I am from the lovely state of CO, I live in one of the suburbs of Denver near the base of the mountains. I am fortunate, I get the best of both worlds. The busy city life of Denver, and the quiet feel of a small town. I am only a 45 minute drive away from the mountains, and less to Denver. I am a mom of 3 kids, ages 17,7 and 6. I live with them, my bf, his mom and the Tiny Dog! My favorite form of exercise so far is walking! I am starting to train to run a 5k, (I have never been any good at this.) I have also recently remembered how fun roller skating is. So much so, that I am having a belated birthday party at the skating rink on Saturday!4 -
Now for the down and dirty part of being the captain.
I am here to help make this race as fun, challenging and as amazing as possible for each and everyone of you. I try and respond to all messages within a reasonable time frame, so if you have any questions and concerns please contact me ASAP. Also, there is usually a question thread on the main page that you can ask questions that the Group leaders will try and answer for you.
Please check in as much as possible. If you are not going to have any exercise for a day please, please please enter a 0 on the spreadsheet. This helps me and your team know you haven't left us behind and are just having a rest day. If for some reason you have to miss a few days, or a week please send me a message so I can mark it on the sheet.
If you can't get your points/exercise time on your spreadsheet let me know.
Challenges are important! Do them! If something doesn't work for you, let us know and we can try and modify it to work for you.
Exercise minutes are minutes you spent purposefully doing an activity for exercise. If you aren't sure, ask yourself "Would I be okay with one of the challengers counting this activity as exercise?" If you answer yes, then you can probably use it. If your answer was no, then don't count it.
This is supposed to be a fun, competitive way to help us reach our health goals. Remember we are a team. That means we are doing this together, if you can't do something, hopefully your team will help you through it, and pick up the slack. Let's keep this friendly and supportive.
Last, but not least! Everyone is welcome to friend me, check in lots, and lets kick some!5 -
Last week I could access the spreadsheet but this morning I am not able to from my phone or desktop computer. Do you have any suggestions?0
-
@lennoncpa I am also having trouble accessing it right now. My guess is they are probably doing some maintenance on the spreadsheet and will be back up in a couple of hours. If not, leave Missionenforcer a note.1

Thanks for the "please stand by" notice. I'm not a Google guy, but I just created a Gmail address. Anything else I need to know about these spreadsheets?0
-
@SweatsOnSunday I think you should be okay once they get them up and running.
Why don't you and @lennoncpa get challenge 1 started by introducing yourselves to the group?0 -
I am Belle, ( BeLLe_60), I am from a small, rural town in central AZ . We live on a acre.. a block from the creek. Our neighbors are cows and horses.. it's not unusual to to see a neighbor walking their sheep down the road. My DH and I are empty nesters soon to retire with 2 children and 3 fur babies (2 are grands). This is my 2nd Amazing Race, I was in Summer Heat and was unable to finish due to time restraints. I have 20 - 30 lbs to drop ..2017 is my year to make positive changes! My workout of choice for now is walking on the treadmill most days of the week and a bit of strength training. With my main focus to be strength training eventually. My favorite form of exercise is working in my garden. As the weather warms and the rain stops. I have lots of garden work preparing my beds for spring planting. Also loads of yard work to be done this early spring. Which is absolutely the best time of year here in AZ to be out and about before the summer heat hits. Working outside will replace my cardio treadmill walks hopefully and get me out in the fresh air and sunshine. Right down the road from us is Sedona, AZ. visited by many around the country/ world. Known for its spectacular red-rock buttes. See pictures for a few of the best known red rock formations. I am looking forward to making new friends as we travel and see the world and cross the finish line together! Happy adventures!

The spreadsheets are now working! There two links in the top right hand corner for questions. Please use them to contact @hawkins410 about the challenges, and I can be reached through the "Spreadsheet and Technical Questions Link".2 -
Hello - I am Sheryl (lennoncpa) and I live about an hour north of Detroit in a small town called Romeo - and I live in a 100 year old Victorian Home. I am 61 years old and have a 6 year old Chihuahua Frankie who was a rescue dog that I was fostering (they call me a foster failure because I fell in love with him and adopted him!). I had hip replacement surgery on both hips over the summer and I am pretty much pain free, unless I overdo it on a workout. I enjoy a variety of fitness workouts including interval training, aqua aerobics, Zumba, spin, yoga and clogging (a form of dance). In the summer I also like to ride my bike and take walks. I need to lose about 20 pounds and I find that the older I get, the harder it gets to lose weight! I love having this community for support and I am excited about this new challenge. I do income taxes for a living so I want to make sure I keep moving during tax season for my mental health as well as my physical health. I have attached a picture of my dog Frankie.

@BeLLe_60 Thank you for introducing yourself. It sounds like you live in a beautiful area. I couldn't live in AZ, it gets way too hot for me.
@lennoncpa What a cute dog. I have prepared income taxes in the past. I am so glad I am not doing it this year. I am sure it will be a little difficult to balance taxes with your menta health, but you can do it.

Hi, I'm Jackie from Washington State, about an hour south of Seattle, Puyallup. We have an amazing state fair every year. I'm 55 years old, married 14 years, with 3 children and 2 grandkids. This is my second term, also playing in the Hogwarts for 6 terms maybe, lol. I love the outdoors, hiking, camping, swimming and camping. Since moving back to Washington after living in Las Vegas, since getting use to the rain and cold,
My favorite form of exercise is walking/walking. I've joined a gym a couple years ago, so going to spinning and Aqua tit classes are super fun
Thanks @jdelaroy for taking the roll of captain for team 6, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!5 -
Our spreadsheet: I hope this is okay. Last term I keep losing the link to the spreadsheet plus now it's an easy access for everyone,

Good Morning!
This is my first Amazing Race challenge, too. I am 55, been married for 28 years and have two college students (so no money for a gym membership). My favorite exercise is walking, and I'm taking line dance classes... I never would have thought I'd get so sweating line dancing. I live in Southern California just 15 minutes from Disneyland and 3 miles from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.4 -
Hello Team 6'ers. My name is Joni, but you can call me Star. I live in California, not too far from San Francisco. I'm semi-retired and a grandma of 4 beautiful kids that keep me moving and smiling! California has been in a terrible drought for many years but with all the rain we've had lately, we can now take longer showers! My favorite exercise is hiking with my husband and dog, and lucky for us we have lots of wonderful hiking trails around here, and (again) with all the rain, they are now beautiful and green once again, and we can take our dog with us and not worry about foxtails.6

Hi all!
I am Malea (short for Michaela). I am from Austria, and I live in Vienna. Please don't confuse Austria with Australia - we do not have any kangaroos (except in the zoo). Even the post office is said to sometimes send letters to the wrong continent...
I love it here, Vienna offers a great mix of culture (especially music), it has many parks and it doesn't take long to get out of the city to the surrounding hills or the floodplains of the Danube with the national park - both are great areas to hike.
Hiking is also my favorite exercise, I love to go on trekking tours in my vacation. Other favorites are walking and riding the bike.
I was part of this challenge the last term, but had to drop out because I caught a nasty cold/bronchitis and had to stay in bed for three weeks. I am determined to stay until the end of the challenge this time!
