Okay *kitten* movers, here's the new thread for the March 2017 Move Your *kitten* Challenge!

PLEASE READ the directions below.

We welcome all newbies and welcome back to the oldies!

"Rules of the Challenge"
1. Set your goal and post it to the thread....distance ONLY (Miles or KMs) - NO minutes, NO # of workouts, NO # of calories, NO # of steps - DISTANCE ONLY.
2. Make your ticker if you want to use one (see directions below or in the FAQ thread) or add your goal to the thread.
3. Get moving your *kitten* starting Wednesday, March 1st.
4. Post as often as you can to the thread so we can keep the sheet (see link below) up to date. You are welcome to report what you are moving each time BUT please make sure you post the TOTAL miles (kms) moved each time you update.

Please don't post any previous month's miles here. We will continue updating the previous month's spreadsheet using the old thread for approximately the first 5 or so days of the new and current month. Please add only your current month's goals/miles to this thread. Got it?

The purpose is to set a distance goal (KM or Miles) and track your distance for the month - please only do one or the other...if you are doing KM just report in KM - we have a formula in the spreadsheet that will convert it to miles for us.

You are challenging yourself, not competing against anyone else.....the distance can be on a treadmill, stairmaster, elliptical, bike, roller blades, walking, running, biking, hiking, swimming (if you can measure).....just set a distance goal and do the work.

Report to the thread often to keep us updated because we track our info on a spreadsheet (see link below) so you can see how you are doing compared to the group but not to openly compete with them. (Whatever goes on inside your own brain is your own business. )

The idea is to set your goal and reach it before the end of the month.

Welcome to all - new and old.....have a great month challenging yourself!

Link to the Google spreadsheet where you can view (but not edit). The Challenge Admins will update it for you at mostly random times.....but typically at least once a day. Don't hold us to that though.

Directions for making a ticker:
Go to either www.lilyslim.com or www.tickerfactory.com and create a Fitness ticker. Then copy the "BB code" and paste it into your posts on this thread each time you do an update. (More detailed info is located in the FAQ thread on the MYAC Group page.)

Welcome and we hope you enjoy your stay and that you find this helpful in realizing your fitness goals!

I am going for 200 again. If I can't run them, I will walk or cycle them. Plus I am paying myself a quarter for every mile I bike this year. More incentive to ride.

I'm seriously thinking about a target of 128 - which will take me to a MYA$$ total of 5,000!

I'll do 150 again. 3 days of Tabata will probably keep me from doing more.

Hello March! I'm on the board with a 3 mile walk this morning. Very humid here so I'm taking a few days off from running.

Flying out of the starting gate with a big 1 mile.

Ticker won't let me update even though it shows up on their site. It's 1/35 so far.

@VCAD78 - And I'll say the same thing to you that I said to @SANDYT151....Welcome to the group! We're a friendly and helpful bunch so if you have any questions, feel free to ask! There are also a couple of helpful FAQ documents on the group's home page too. Please make sure to check in frequently with updates to your progress with your miles. We look forward to seeing you make your goal! :star:

@BELLE_60 - Absolutely count those miles too! :) Don't overestimate your goal so that you end up hating it. Start with how far you think you might ride each time and how many days a week you might ride on average and add that to any other moving (walking, running, outdoor biking, etc) you might do. Keep it achievable and if you blow past it, you can either raise it this month or wait and raise it for next month when you have a better idea how many miles you want to do.

@IMADIVA32 - Welcome and great to see you back again!! We missed you!!

I've just popped back to last month and found your lovely words @JTH11706

I'm old enough, and may have acquired some wisdom too, to not worry too much about being super speedy. Don't get me wrong, a good time fills me with joy. But I run with younger women and their pursuit of PB's sometimes takes the edge off their runs. Instead of celebrating a successful run, they beat themselves up for not being faster, not doing a sub 10 min miles, where they finish relative to others. Consequently, they 'lose' their nerve in races ... never running as well as they do on club nights. They put toooo much pressure on themselves.

@kar328 - I do have to keep reminding myself that the joy is in the run, and as Janet said, completing it without injury. You'll be amazing in your April and May races ... just remember to enjoy them.
