Well, my plan for a yesterday 0 failed. It was 73 degrees so I came home and made a mule. Then we decided to walk up to the brewery. Naturally I made a roadie and had the beer there. The booze just made me sleepy. At least I did get the extra walk in. So tonight will be a 0 and I need to get another one some time this week, probably Thursday is my only chance for that. Now that I'm logging again, I'm reminded how many calories I consume in booze. :o No wonder I can't lose any weight!

Day one is in the books and I did good. I had a wake up call on my physical activity. I am out of shape. When I was lost all the weight before I was spending upwards of 6 hours a day working out. So I thought an hour on the treadmill would be okay. Nope 30 minutes this week. (everyday) baby steps. I ate clean and I didn't eat enough. That will take some tweaking and readjusting. I didn't miss the booze and I drank a ton of water. I did have to get up in the middle of the night because of the water but that was okay. I CAN DO THIS.

Don't be shocked everyone but 2 days of 0's. Not really intentional but now I feel like I should try to keep it going. I've told myself I definitely will not drink on days I don't exercise so the lack of energy to workout > my desire to drink :/

Day two in the bag. Still eating clean and managed 45min on the dreadmill followed by 50 squats. Going strong.

Good job on the zeros Kate and Syd.

    Great job, Robyn!

Going for 0 today and tomorrow. Gotta get on a better routine. Was going to go out to dinner, but have now decided to stay in and do this. You know whenever you eat out the calories are there. A friend of mine lost 20 pounds using weight watcher (oh, and she has new invisalign braces that she can only take out for 2 hours a day - so she is basically NOT eating) but it's an inspiration (kick in butt) for me. I always walk that fine line between "Life is short, drink good wine" to "You really need to lose weight!" ...

I need some ideas of things to do with my evenings. The issue is my husband gets home at 4:30 and then we walk for 30 minutes or more. By 5:30 we are home and ready for a glass of red wine. Ugh. Habits, right? Would love to hear how others are combatting the happy hour thing.

Hello! Just joined and so happy to have found this group. Wine is my downfall. Well, and cheese, and sweets. And my husband brews beer for a living so we always have good craft beer around. I don't like liquor so I have that going for me (ha?). Anyway, I just turned 40, had my second child in under 2 years about 9 months ago, and just need to lose (and keep off) 10 lbs. Can't seem to because of the wine, which makes me make bad decisions about the cheese and sweets! And, I work FT out of the home and can't find time for exercise with two tiny kiddos. But, I've got to! Just started back on MFP and tracking and trying to find time for some activity and limit wine and eat clean. My husband has trouble keeping weight ON, even though he enjoys his nightly beers (and it's always multiple beers). And if he doesn't eat carbs every meal, he drops weight. So we have very different nutritional needs.

Read earlier in this thread something about the 5:30 hour. I struggle with that. I used to workout after work, before kids. Now, we both LOVE a happy hour beverage - after a long day of work and settling the kids and such. But that seems to turn into 2 or 3 glasses pretty quickly and then I make bad food decisions. Hubby has no plans to quit his nightly beer (or 3) so I have to find the strength to do it myself. Hoping this group will help inspire me!

Hi ashivnc! I don't know how inspirational we will be  but most definitely we will be supportive. I think we all can relate to the 5:30/happy hour struggles. For me, I like to cook, and I especially enjoy doing it with a glass of wine nearby. It's relaxing and a great way to end the day/start the evening wind down. It's my biggest struggle for sure.
Speaking of...my 2 day streak without wine ended last night with a glass of red. I did manage a walk yesterday and am about to walk away from this computer keyboard to get in at least 30 minutes of some circuit work. There's that open bottle of red just sitting there so I know I'll want to enjoy some of it tonight.

Tuesday-not a 0, had about 1/2 bottle of white. It fit into my calories and I did get some activity in so......
I have not been able to get up for yoga in the morning....same thing, different day, so we have been walking at night, better than nothing right???
Not sure about tonight, might finish the wine, might not??!!!!

    Hello ash!

Well I am on a roll! 8 straight zeroes! I have been in the zone with eating and I haven't wanted to ruin it by the time evening rolls around. Also, it has been really nice waking up with energy and without the low-grade headache. I suspect Saturday will hold a few drinks though... going on a weekend road trip... bit until then...

    Fail for me this week.
    Mon - 3
Tues - Eric and I split a bottle of white
Wed - started drinking ciders at 2. I think I had 6, maybe 7. I also didn't eat dinner. So while I don't feel especially hungover today, I am tired ( up too late) and weak (no food).
I would say I could manage a 0 tonight, but a friend is coming over to have dinner and talk about installing landscape lighting for us. And he's bringing wine. Oh well.

I have been studying my food diary from about a year ago when I was at a happy weight, and I was pretty consistent with no drinking on Monday. So I do think I really want to shoot for at least that. I can manage one 0 a week right?

Day Three in the bag! Minor set back in that I didn't get on the dreadmill, but the eating has been clean and no booze. (I had some intestinal issues yesterday and I figure since I RAN to the bathroom so many times yesterday I didn't need to get on the treadmill.)

Welcome Ashivnc. If you look at the names thread you can see who everyone is. Tell us about yourself.
Meg amazing job on the streak.
Ashley I really like cider but I drink too much so I only treat myself occasionally. Of course you can manage one ZERO a week.

Ashley, I tried to do zero at least once this week and still no go! I can so easily talk myself into one glass of wine! I guess it's not TOO bad, right? So now the bottle is open, so one glass tonight and then..well it's Friday.

THere's always next Monday. Let's both try to do Monday next week and then check in? I could use the support (one day at a time.. )

Gwen, yes! I really want to try for one zero. I used to do Sundays, but I sort of like drinking on Sundays..... I feel like if I set my goals too high (like two 0's a week), I just think I can't do it so don't even try. One 0 a week is totally doable.

Well we just got some sh!tty news about my MIL...cancer. We still don't know the stage or what the treatment will be. Surgery not for a couple of weeks. But I imagine my wine intake will be consistent in the foreseeable future. I looked at the clock now and realized it's only noon here so it's probably too early to have a glass...but I contemplated it, for sure.
Later this afternoon/evening definitely...I already logged it. ;)

Day 4 down. Go me. The weekend and tonight are going to be a little rough. I really wanted a drink last night because some fool almost hit me and I was so rattled that I dinged my new car backing into the driveway. I got on the dreadmill instead. I didn't eat well last night but I still consider it a win.

Syd so sorry hear about MIL. Stay positive. It is the most helpful thing.

I've been failing this week. Out to dinner Wednesday with a friend. Only had two glasses bc had to drive, but then got home and wanted to watch one of my fave new shows to unwind (Pretty Little Lies, HBO) and I felt like a glass of red would go so well with it. So that was a 3 night.

Last night, had no plans to drink but my 9 month old screamed for about an hour between daycare pickup and 6 pm. DH didn't get home until 6:15 and when he got home, he was 2 beers deep on an empty stomach. That frustrated me bc we were supposed to have a "planning" evening - vacas, trips etc coming up - but I knew it wasn't going to happen. We didn't even get to eat until 8:30 pm and by that time, I'd given in and had 2 glasses of white! So I ended up having 3.5. One more white with dinner and a half glass of red.

Weighed myself today and up another 1.5 lb. So frustrated.

And, I'd had a pretty good day of clean eating until I started in on that wine.

About me - I work in marketing/website/database admin and have a sedentary job. I used to be passionate about fitness and was in great shape, but haven't been able to find time for it since my first child was born.

Impressed with everyone's willpower and progress!

sorry to hear about your MIL Sydney.

I'm into trying for a Zero Monday as a way to start. Maybe if it goes well I can commit to two Zeros a week and then keep it to 2 glasses the other three weekdays and then give myself the opp to be bad on weekends.

Sorry about your MIL Sydney. Hugs.

    Great job Robin!

Ashivnc, your paragraph 2 sounds like me. My kids are 5 and 2 and go to day care 4 days a week. My husband rarely gets home before 6, so the hour of 5-6pm is always stressful for me too. I basically just give them snacks and turn on Netflix so I can get dinner started. And then it's Mommy Mommy Mommy Mommy! :o

I did ok last night. I had a cider and the better part of a bottle of pinot noir. Eric and our friend each had a small glass and I drank the rest. I contemplated another cider after, but did not and went to bed before 11 so I got up and worked out this morning. Going to try to be tame tonight, but it's going to be 73 and I think I'm meeting Eric for happy hour. Tomorrow night is likely to be debaucherous. Have a great weekend all!

Ash...I enjoyed reading about you. I think your story/struggles are similar to many women, and we're here to support you. I'll join in on the 0 Monday with you! We can do that much, right?
    Robin and Meg...go you!

I feel a little better today. We've got a gameplan in place. My MIL has a secondary infection that she needs to get rid of before we move forward with cancer treatment. So we'll tackle that 1st...one step at a time. I need to practice some self care during this and be sure to exercise and try to get sleep. Those are my immediate goals.
    Tgif lushes...Enjoy your weekend :drinker:

    Monday-0
    Tuesday-1/2 bottle of white
    Wednesday-2 beers and 2 Manhattans
Thursday-1/2 bottle of white and glass of whiskey
Tonight will probably be the usual sunset with a cocktail-trying to keep it at 4.
Tomorrow, we are brewing so that means beers earlyish and drinking for the rest of the day.
Sunday, we are hoping to get out for a hike and a possible snorkel.

    Happy Aloha Friday!
    Have a great weekend!!!

Hi lushes. My weekend was relatively lushy. Friday we behaved pretty well. Had most of a bottle of wine. I stayed up too late to watch the KY game. Saturday was a lovely day. Eric took Daphne to swim and I took Langston for a run in the morning. I had a crappy run because I didn't eat a proper dinner Friday night and didn't sleep enough but it was nice to get out in the park. I had a couple ciders during the day while I read in the sun. Our friends got in a little before 6 so we had pre dinner wine, then more at dinner, then went 3 more places and didn't get home til almost 2. I was sleepy yesterday but still had some wine and ciders during the KY game. We lost. :(

Today is my day for a 0! Maybe some more this week, maybe not.

    Have a great week!

Syd - so sorry to hear about your MIL... :(
Ash - welcome!! The more the merrier :)

Very lushy weekend for me, probably the lushiest since the year started. Need to get back to lots of consecutive zeros...
    Friday - 3 Rum & Diets
Saturday - Wine...lots and lots of wine :(
Sunday - 2 small Moscow Mules and 1 beer with dinner
    Monday - need a Zero!!!

Drinks were had Saturday night. I spent 14 hours in the car and we just needed to unwind with a few bevvies when we finally returned home (looooooong round trip to take my man's kids back to their mom's after they spent a week with us). We stopped at the liquor store on the way home and I did something smart for once - I picked up a 6 oz bottle of vodka. That's it. I knew that was all I wanted to drink and if I didn't get more than that I would remove the temptation to keep mixing... it worked! I even stayed away from the bottle of gin that was in the cupboard after that. And you know what? On Sunday I woke up with that low-grade headache and felt sluggish until noon. And I didn't like that. So...
    Sun - 0
That Sunday zero turned into me getting up an hour earlier today and doing some yoga to start my day. This week my schedule is a bit different as I am taking my daughter to a spring break day camp so I am leaving the house an hour and a half later than usual. I'm going to keep getting up at my usual time and do some yoga to fill that time. It was such a nice way to start my day! But having the energy to do that will mean not drinking before bed so...

Sydney I am so sorry to hear about your MIL.

    Here's to Monday zeroes!

Robin's weekend was an EPIC FAIL!. 'nuff said. Back on track with clean eating and a zero for Monday. For the weekly weigh in I was down 5.6 pounds. I know it was mostly water but I will take it.
