@elise4270 I think I am going to aim for 10-15 pounds by the end of the year.

I went back & looked at my diary from years ago when I lost the weight. I was right around the same amount of calories.

    My plan so far:
    1. Start weighing food again. I used to be good at eye balling but I'm not even trying to be accurate.
    2. Focus on healthier choices. Ice cream OR cookies in a day not both.
    3. Alcohol once a week (Saturday). I got into the habit of a drink most nights. I don't need it. It's empty calories.
    4. Be consistent with workouts.
    5. Weekly weigh ins.

    That's what I have so far. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

@RunsOnEspresso Sounds like a start. I need to quit guessing about calories and actually weigh and pay attention to real portion sizes.

    1. Weigh foods
    2. Weigh and record weight daily, even if it's horrible
    3. Healthier choices
    4. Exercise as possible/practical
    5. start drinking once a week... LOL! Just teasing.
    6. Be more disciplined and don't eat because you are avoiding/happy about something or having a pity party or because it what you and Netflix do.
    7. Eat more veggies

@elise4270 - Sorry about crazy. I think you deserve a little time to not think about food with surgery coming up.

@RunsOnEspresso - sounds like a good plan. I think a lot of people started drinking a lot more during this time! It is just all so stressful. I still weigh some things. I cut back on alcohol and now my weight is down. This was because of DH's aFib and that he can't drink, not that I was actually sticking to a rule.

@shanaber - oh you were 10 days too! I thought you were weekly.

I ran out of spinach for my salad at lunch so did a rapid pick up of Panera. Every summer I used to love the Strawberry Chicken Poppyseed salad but since I became vegetarian, I discovered they will replace the chicken with quinoa. It's really good! I probably mentioned it last summer. I also got a chocolate chip cookie and meant to eat half today. Ooops, it's gone. I think I was celebrating my weight was under my goal today - 147.8 today (goal is a 148). Debating if I am too "ribby". I will try to hover around this for a while though. My legs are getting quite the muscles on the quads! Yikes!

@elise2470 So you're saying I have a pair of Thyroids? JK....my parathyroid is releasing calcium potentially? Guess we will find out. Having to collect urine for 24 hours should be a good time. And I have to keep it cold so either in an icechest or the fridge (gross) . Since I use the bathroom a few times at night, guess its an icechest. Maybe I'll keep a few cold beers in there and really enjoy myself. ;)

Your plan sounds perfect and having @RunsOnEspresso as an accountability partner will help! I need to get back into weighing and measuring, not drinking during the week unless I am being socially-distanced social, and making healthy choices and counting the treats in my numbers.....basically your plan.

@shanaber - she didn't mention scanning my pair of thryoids....maybe waiting to see what my bloodwork/pee test looks like. The pre-test stuff sounds typical - our health care system is a mess. Lots of room for improvement. Nice job on the weight!

@ddmom0811 My stress fracture in my right femoral neck that was causing hip pain back in January/February was deemed a "bone insufficiency" - caused stress fracture. I started upping my running so I was just hoping overuse or maybe the idiot guy at Airrosti that literally put his whole body weight into deep tissue massage and manipulation of my hip socket....maybe he did it and I can sue? Most likely its just bone density - that area was considered osteopenic 3 years ago. It was stable 2 year ago and I was scheduled for Dec for the next one but I am going today. She wants a "frac" score - some statistical score from my density that gives them an idea of my chance of fractures....and since I have one, I am already losing the battle. :# Your weight training is great! Cycling is good cardio - but not weight bearing....keep up running too!

Exercise: - bike ride. I was swearing at the girl....my DD was laughing....

Food: Grilled ham and cheese/watermelon; dinner - some salad with chicken and veggies

@Avidkeo and @Elise4270 aren't you two the one's that love x-rays? Did I tell you about my great-nephew - one year old - that fell on his second solo step. He had his fingers in his mouth when he fell and almost bit the end of his pinky off. The ER stitched it up with 8 stitches and put it in a splint. Then, they went to the orthopedic a couple of days later and he decided surgery was necessary. They had to put a pin in his tiny little finger bone. Here is a picture of the x-ray.

I did see this yesterday, poor little guy!

@bearly63 LOL! yup a pair of thyroids. I kept poo in the fridge when doc/lab wanted dd's sample for analysis, before deciding it was up for gallbladder testing. ew... Urine is sterile though, your outer bits aren't, so it's not really that gross. Ya keep dead animal parts in the fridge, then put them in your mouth. EW that makes me feel like an animal (dahmer) serial killer.

@ddmom0811 I think I'm good at making plans, not so great about sticking to them. Avocado so far today, on-track!

@elise2470 Is it true that you can actually drink your urine if you were stuck in the desert and couldn't find water or cut open a cactus to drink from? Or a coconut? That would be an interesting "Would you ever" question. Well ladies?

So guys, I was flat out today baking up a storm for a birthday party we are holding tomorrow for our girls.

Because I waso busy cooking, I forgot to have lunch! And I was really good, I didn't have many tastes at all despite all the sweet stuff around me. As I went to bed, I had 700 calories left!

So I had a piece of cheese, a hot chocolate (with marshmallows!) and left the remaining 200 for buffer for the bits I did eat and haven't accounted for.

I'll post completed cake pic tomorrow, but for now heres some basic pics.

@avidkeo - amazing looking cakes! Maybe you've hit on the trick to not overeat - doing something for others and being busy! Let's all start a company "do good, be healthy!"

@bearly63 - Thanks for explanation of fracture. I dropped out of the regular running challenge about a year ago because it was moving too fast for me to keep up! So when you joined in here I realized you had some type of injury but wasn't quite sure what. You are right, my Pellie is cutting into my runs. But since I did that 72 day streak I decided it is okay to take this little cut back time.

Well, the 147 was short lived, up 1.8 pounds today! My dinner was a Hello Fresh mediterranean chick pea bowl and was a little salty. It's fine - not worried about it. I'm happy to be in this range.

Orange County in Florida made the mask rule -- my school is in Orange, but my house is in Seminole. Hoping Seminole follows. I stopped into BJs last night for spinach for my smoothies and picked up 10 other things not on the list. There is a sign at the front door "we require all who enter to wear a mask if you can". So about 1/4 did not have on masks. We discovered if we go at 7:15pm the store is very empty.

Going to run at lunch time. Pasta tonight since we are going riding on the road tomorrow. Curious if after 3 weeks of Peloton if I will feel stronger. Just DH and I though so it's hard to gauge that. Whenever we get back to group rides I hope to be really strong.

I'm LOVING my Vitamix! Thanks @bearly63 and @shanaber! I'm becoming an expert smoothie maker. I even have DH drinking them now for breakfast. I just started adding steel cut oatmeal to them. I soak about 1/4 cup in almond milk the night prior and then use that. Chia seeds, local honey, greek yogurt, spinach, and a variety of frozen fruits. Probably too much sugar but at least it is all fruit.

@RunsOnEspresso , How did yesterday go for you?

    for me,
    1. Weigh foods
    2. Weigh and record weight daily, even if it's horrible
    3. Healthier choices
    4. Exercise as possible/practical
    5. start drinking once a week... LOL! Just teasing.
    6. Be more disciplined and don't eat because you are avoiding/happy about something or having a pity party or because it what you and Netflix do.
    7. Eat more veggies
    8. Water

    1. Didn't weigh a thing
    2. no scale

    3. ate an avocado and almond butter/ jelly sandwiches (sort of better)
    4. cleaned dd's room since she left and may never be back.
    5. no drinking, but I sure thought about it. Offered support to a fellow mfp poster regarding EtOH (ethyl alcohol)
    6. Did not eat because of boredom and netflix. I cleaned dd's room because its also trash day today
    7. I had the avocado, almonds, and low sugar jelly on daves sprouted grain bread.
    8. adding a water goal- not a molecule yesterday other than coconut water.

HEY so that means I did 5 of the 7 daily goals? whoop whoop!

@avidkeo I can't wait to see the finished product! What are the triangle-shaped bars? They look delicious!

I ended about 300 calories under my goal. I weighed all my food. I ate so much fruit & vegetables. I tried to get more protein, fewer carbs as well. And I chose to have cookies. Not cookies and ice cream. I did have 4 cookies which was 2 servings but I've been known to eat an entire package at once of these particular cookies. So that is my win. I've learned to eat 4 instead of all.

@RunsOnEspresso That is a huge win....4 instead of all! And a nice calorie count to boot!

    @Avidkeo Yum....ginger!

@Elise4270 time for a scale my dear - get this one from Amazon.

Escali Primo P115C Premium Food Cooking, Lightweight and Durable Baking Scale, 8" x 6" x 1.25", Chrome

Your keeping a list and being honest....good start! Love Dave's bread!

@ddmom0811 Your smoothie sounds great - oatmeal is a great idea in smoothie. The one thing that my cyclist friend and my boss pointed out about road cycling and spinning? You engage your core naturally on the bike to maintain balance etc and your constantly having to focus on the road etc. Spinning you can just ride and go hard but you have to work to engage your core. I need lessons.....I try to use the old ๐Ÿ‘ muscles and the core - it's work!

Exercise: Walked 3 miles and zig zagged away from mouth breathers on the trail

Food: Breakfast tacos. Dinner: DD requested her dinner before the MCAT be Spaghetti and meatballs.

I am getting up at 5:15 am tomorrow to drive her - I offered thinking she would say no but since it will be dark, its in sketchy area with quite a lot of homeless folks, etc, she said yes. She can chillax. I will come home a do a longish bike ride then go get her at noonish. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Today mom, dad, and I went to Johnson City to finish packing up my cousin's apartment and bring some of the stuff home with us. It was late when we finished and they wanted Little Caesars pizza for dinner, so that's what we had. I know I am going to be up in weight tomorrow because of that and the fact that I have been up all week for some strange reason. I promise to be happy if I come in under 140. LOL

I didn't end up eating a huge amount, was too busy and I made a point in not munching till around 1130 (party started at 13). But had a bag of marshmallows in front of me at one point. I know I'm over calories but no idea how much by, not too much I think, but it's always more than you realise.

    Oh well.

@Avidkeo I agree. The cake is amazing. Glad everyone had a good time.

I weighed this morning and was pleasantly surprised that I was the exact same weight as yesterday morning. I really thought I would be up again, after having 3 pieces of pizza last night. I am up 1.8 pounds from last week, but still under 140, so I am happy, as promised.

Not planning on doing much today. Clean house a little, take off the trash, and maybe play around with Spotify. If I get antsy, I may take a short run, but really think I am just going to have a rest weekend and take a much needed mental break.

    1. nope. still guessed at portions
    2. yes I weighed. still rising. I'll be up another 1-2 pounds this month
    3. not really healthier choices, The scale being up offered no motivation. I had a cheese sandwich with pepperoni, then binged on triscuits and swiss, then some chocolate 78%
    4. Walked with dh, he wasnt keen on walking very long. so half done
    5. Thought about it, but with what DH is going through I opted not to buy anything.
    6. failed
    7. no veggies
    8. drank 2 bottles of water.

    Today?
IDK I have stuff to make a veggie dish. I do not want on the scale today. I might go walk alone. Could also drink alone... ;)

@RunsOnEspresso You have a better day than I?

@Elise4270 I like that you are keeping track of how you do with your goals daily. Even if you aren't perfect, at least you are thinking about them and I think eventually, it will fall in to place. Hang in there. You are going through a lot right now. BTW, what is going on with your DH? I think I must have missed something.

@avidkeo - that cake!!! Amazing! It all looks good!

@elise4270 - agree with @quilteryoyo -- it is good to keep track of your goals even if you don't meet them. But be easy on yourself too! Tracking food is key for me. I still use my scale for certain foods. You said your DD might not move back home. I know you mentioned earlier you might try to get her to live at her college, is that what she's doing?

I joined a Picky Bar challenge of some sort on Strava. So then after I met the mileage I "won" the right to purchase a pack of Picky Bar stuff at a discount. I decided to do it because I remember liking the bars before and I'm in a little rut with the same foods. OMG - there is this granola called PB&J All Day. https://pickybars.com/products/pb-j-all-day-granola. It is so good! I added it to my smoothie because I had forgotten to soak the Steel Oats the night before. Then I snacked on it. It's almost too good - I could easily eat the entire bag. There are several bars that sound good and some oatmeals that also look good. I know granola is not a healthy food but this one does have a lot of good ingredients at least.

DH and I went for a 41 mile ride today. He nearly bonked. We were stupid. He went out of aFib on Monday. He didn't exercise until yesterday when he did a 40 minute Peloton ride and then we set out today and it was hot and windy. The only smart thing we did was only go 41 instead of the 44 we planned on. (Head wind most of the way home). I was worried about him and wanted to just bike home alone and pick him up but he said he was okay. In addition, about 6 years ago he was in a bad car accident and had a back injury. It's been okay the past year after many treatments of all sorts. When he rode the Peloton yesterday he did a bunch of standing up riding and now his back is killing him. He hasn't done any core work since March when the gym closed. I told him (again) he should just do core work at home! (insert emoji for hard head here).

And in the strangest news I was down to 146.5 today. WHAT!? I thought it was a mistake and got on again. Down 3 pounds in one night? I even lifted the scale to see if there was something under it which happened once and the weight was off. I mean, I'll take it, but find it odd. Indian tonight so I'm sure it will be up tomorrow and Monday. I am used to fluctuating 1-2 pounds but never 3 that I can remember. I know men can fluctuate that much or much more! I was up 2 the day before so if I ignore that it's just down 1.

Seeing granddaughter tomorrow! We won't ride in the morning but I may run or ride Peloton, or lift.

DD is coming home tomorrow. I think she went to Dallas to visit the "Not a boyfriend, mom. Just friends". And was thinking about going back to California with him, but she tells me very little and with Alex trauma, I am trying to respect boundaries. Anyway, I am sure it was good for her to get out of town and do what ever nonsense she did down there. I cleaned her room and were going to have to revisit the NO pot rule. Which I'm willing to renegotiate to not smoking it in the house. I'll have to talk to DH, but I'm up for telling her she can smoke it on the back porch or down at the picnic table instead of hiding in her room stinking the place up. Smells like a den of skunks, ugh. nasty.

DH is back to happy from his confession. Looks like we will be switching from one church to another (Catholic still) as he likes this priest better. Even gave him penance. what? what the heck did you do? but I guess that's like asking someone who they voted for. None of the other 2 ever did that.

ETA DH wanted to take me clothes shopping because I don't have anything that fits. I said no way. I'm not buying bigger clothes, I will suffer until I can lose weight. He can buy me a new pan for my rice cooker that i dropped and dented and now wont float in the cooker like it should, burning my rice.
