Runners that need some nutritional accountability

@shanaber I heard from my crazy lil brother, your neighbor, that that happened to the top health person. Did you also hear that Amy Acton - Ohio - highly respected head of Ohio's public health dept is also out. The smart people are getting death threats. So glad you have a date....so next week? Wonderful! Driving up the coast sounds great....maybe small bed and breakfasts? Glamping? I might be forced to just watch travel documentaries on the TV. I guess I could make a meal that goes with the locale and dress like I'm on vacay? Crazy? Guilty!!!
@Elise2470 I hear La Mer is pricey but gosh darn it, aren't we worth it?
@quilteryoyo The dinner was good....the snacks between 3-6 bad. I think maybe I am a little stressed this week. But that may be just an excuse.

Sigh one step forward, 2 back.
And now my uniform is starting to feel snug. Damn it, this is my low point.3 -
DD's has her MCAT Test Saturday at 6 AM. Our Mayor just extended stay safe at home orders and I pray that they won't cancel this test too. I think that would be a nail in the coffin for the 2021 application cycle for her. Either way she has to nail it....a really strong score to prove to the yahoos that she is academically ready since she has some "B's" on her transcript, in engineering classes like Tissue Engineering and Signal and System Analysis.
She is, as we speak taking her final practice test at the kitchen table. I was told no bike riding from 6-12 because the loud breathing is annoying and creepy. I am quietly sitting on my deck typing this and keeping my respiration low. 😲
Exercise Plans: Doing a ride later once given the green light from MCAT Queen.
Food: Coffee....some sort of protein for breakfast, salad for lunch, chicken for dinner. Possibly some stress snacks that involve sugar, salt and calories4 -
@shanaber Probably a good idea to skip the meet up. You need to stay healthy in order to be able to get the PM! You continue to do great. I don't know why people have to be so hate filled. The order to wear masks was for their protection and I'm sure there wasn't going to be a fine if you didn't wear one. Just don't, if you feel that strongly about it. Don't threaten to kill someone over it. SMH.
@Avidkeo Even at one step forward and two steps back, you are still only one step back and not two. (That didn't sound quite as profound after I typed it as it did in my head. LOL) You've got this. Maybe today it will be one step forward and only one step back. You can do it.
@bearly63 She is, as we speak taking her final practice test at the kitchen table. I was told no bike riding from 6-12 because the loud breathing is annoying and creepy. I had my normal breakfast - egg, cheese, one piece of toast, and coffee. Probably snack or cereal for lunch and planning on a burger for dinner. Going out for my run soon. The weather is so crazy here for June. It's 10 am and still only 62°F. Should be nice for a run.1 -
CrazyDH made fb friends with crazy. She has set up a go fund me for bereavement, 963$ or some such odd number that makes me think that she has still plans to turn the ashes into a stone. I think it could also still be part of the attention seeking behavior. I am livid over it. I think it's best i just let it be no matter how bad I want to publicly address the offensive antics.
I have violin today. I am mostly looking forward to it. The shoulder is still poopoo though.
Food
Ate flautas with cheese sauce.
@quilteryoyo 62F sounds amazing! It's so hot here our ac can't keep up in the afternoon, even set at 70. Lots of baby tree watering here!4 -
@elise4270 - that is crazy. I had never heard of the diamond made out of ashes until now, and I looked it up. How long did they even date? We collectively agree that she is crazy!
@quilteryoyo- lol I cracked up at that description too of your loud breathing! I am getting ready to do yesterday's Denis Morton rock ride. My road cycling friends are always fawning over him and apparently one of my friends got a shout out from him for her 200th ride yesterday! She's had the Peloton for years but always does the scenic rides but because the rest of us were chatting in a group text about him, she tried his class for her 200th ride.
I'm close to 100 runs so going to time it for a live Robin run! I found your comments spot on about the big burns and eating unhealthy. That was my life for a couple years of cycling. My DH and I would ride the standard group ride of 44 miles on Saturday and then Sunday do our own ride alone and go at least 50. So I would eat whatever the hell I wanted. It's one thing to do that after an infrequent HM run but to do it every weekend wasn't good. We got into the habit of too much crap.
@shanaber- great on the scheduling of PM! My friend's husband got a PM about 6 months and there was some rule about not raising his arm for x weeks. But it wasn't too long and he is feeling great now. He had to get his because of AFib.
@avidkeo - yep, one day at a time! It could be your imagination on the tightness. I feel like the scale controls my mood and time. ugh!
I did a mainly lower body strength training on Sunday and yesterday it hurt every time I went to the bathroom or got up or down ... my butt and hammies and quads! I did a small run yesterday - slow and steady and they feel better today. Going to ride after this post!
Food - okay so far. We ended up getting Thai take away last night and thought for sure I'd be up this AM, but it was fine.
DH is out of aFib!4 -
I looked at turning our dogs into diamonds. It's pretty expensive from what I remember.
@Avidkeo I feel you. I feel like no matter what I do I keep losing and gaining the same half pound and can't drop weight.2 -
@Elise4270 Yes. Crazy is crazy. What description did she give for needing the money. The only thing I would want to be sure of is that people you know aren't giving, thinking it is something you need and make sure they know who the money is going to...if that makes sense. Hope your shoulder didn't hurt too bad for the violin.
@ddmom0811 You are doing great. Glad your body is feeling better today.

The funding was put up by an acquaintance of hers, that may or may not be a legit person. The rational is for bereavement, financial support because of a covid exposure she can't work (why you come to funeral and visitation then). Honestly, from what I know, she doesn't even have custody of her kid(s).
I managed an hour of violin practice. Lessons were rescheduled for tomorrow.3 -

Gah she sounds... I won't finish that sentence, it wouldn't be polite.
Yay for violin practice.
For me, it's dinner time and I have 700 calories left! Just wasn't that hungry after my run - yeah if you didn't see I ran today and it went really well! Whoop whoop. But I'm starving now and have a mad dive headache. Hubby is cooking, fish yum!2 -
I gotta do something about my weight. Or buy new clothes.
My surgery is scheduled with the hospital. I don't know if my online pre-registration goofed something up or what. But I'm scheduled for surgery and a delivery. Be nice if I could instantly birth 6-8 pounds from my body. I may call and straighten it out later. For now I'm sitting and waiting to have that part replaced. Fun.2 -
@Elise4270. Your sense of humor is intact! I look 4 months pregnant every other day. And fluctuate 3 lbs. Between grieving and surgery you have a lot to cope with. Be kind to yourself!1
-
I had a good visit with the endocrinologist . She seemed to appreciate my fake medical degree😉.
Basically said that once I have a fracture I am considered to have Osteoporosis 😡. Doing blood work, new bone density scan and a weird 24 hour collection urine test to check for calcium . Then we talk drugs diet or other options. Also checking my thyroid as it felt full??
Today is recovery day - ride again tomorrow
Food- made a brown rice broccoli chicken bowl For lunch
Tacos for dinner

Morning all.
@elise4270 delivery eh. Definitely an odd one haha.
Today is going to be really busy. I'm baking cakes, shopping for kids party, PT midmorning and work at 3pm! Busy busy!3 -
@Elise4270 Glad you managed violin practice. Scheduled for a delivery, huh. My dad knows a local man who had been in the hospital and got billed for a delivery. The went to the hospital and told them he wanted his baby. LOL I agree with @bearly63 Be kind to yourself. You have a lot going on right now.
@Avidkeo Yeah for the run and calories left.
@bearly63 Glad the endocrinologist visit went well. I had to do that 24 hour urine collection once. I'm pretty sure I did more than the container would hold and had to call them to see what to do. LOL

@elise4270 - You are amazing with your sense of humor even before surgery and all you've been through. Hope the surgery goes well.
@bearly63 - have you had a fracture? I get a bone density test in a couple weeks and the results better be good, because one reason I've been doing so much strength training the last 5-6 years is for that purpose!
Dentist cleaning and new invisalign trays. I asked if I could speed things up and go to shorter times between trays and he said I could try 10 days if the teeth feel like they aren't tight after 10 days. Amazed at the progress. This is a new dentist. I miss my old hygienist but this is closer to my work (maybe my old work, lol) and to have to go every 6 weeks or less, it didn't make sense to drive so far. Anyway this new hygienist was so sweet. This is her 50th year cleaning teeth!!! She loves it. She did not look that age ... whatever she is at all, though with a mask on who can tell?
Can't believe how much COVID is going up in many of our states, Fl, Tx, AZ...
Food all on track today. I ate dinner earlier than normal, like 5:30, so I may have to snack prior to bed or I'll wake up starving.
1 -
@ddmom0811 Glad the invisaligns are working out so good for you!
Food today - normal breakfast and a protein bar after tennis at noon. Then, mom and I went to my cousin's apartment to begin packing stuff up. It was 4:30 before we left there. She didn't want to have to go home and cook, so we got take out at Wendy's. I had a cheeseburger and small order of fries.1 -
I sent an email to the docs office regarding the scheduled delivery and told them it wasn't warranted. Part of me wanted to be hurt over the thought of birth and death, but, eh I got other stuff to be mad about. I did the online pre-registration and it kept trying to default to labor/delivery so it could be my doing, or someone trying to schedule anesthesia and just goofed it. Sure it'll be sorted. It's not like someone is threatening to dig up the ashes of my son behind my back.
I have PMS so I hope a few pounds is just girlie weight.
More crazyIt's not a big deal. I think it's more prudent to let somethings go. The ex told me he had the passcode to Alex's phone. The 5-0 still has it currently (as far as I know). So I asked him today if he'd tell me what it was, that perhaps it was the same as his passcode to his Verizon cloud account which he activated a week prior. I thought maybe it was planned, maybe there are some photos I'd really like to have. Oh the ex doesn't have the passcode now, crazy does and I should ask her for it. UH... no. She won't respond to me. So ex asks crazy for it, and she won't respond. Well now that I have conflicting information from the ex, I'm mad because someone is lying. DH said the cop didn't know about the phone call from Alex to his sister 5-10 minutes before he shot himself. Seems that things were deleted from the log on the phone. Which might be why crazy shut down on me when I text a screenshot of the log to her asking wtf was going on. Why you txt and call a dead person? PMS, so I'm way too irritated to deal with either of them. DH let the cop know the phone is on our cell service, not theirs. It should be returned to us. AND now ya done poked the bear and I want it to spite them. Battles... is it worth it? IDK, probably not. If they have a perceived win, maybe that'll be the end of it.1 -
@Avidkeo and @Elise4270 aren't you two the one's that love x-rays? Did I tell you about my great-nephew - one year old - that fell on his second solo step. He had his fingers in his mouth when he fell and almost bit the end of his pinky off. The ER stitched it up with 8 stitches and put it in a splint. Then, they went to the orthopedic a couple of days later and he decided surgery was necessary. They had to put a pin in his tiny little finger bone. Here is a picture of the x-ray.

I *kitten* up my calorie goal and recalculated using 6 days of exercise because that's what I do and its so many more calories. *sigh* I don't know if I should try that or go back to the 3-5 day calories.
I really want to drop these extra 25 pounds and get my body fat down.2 -
@RunsOnEspresso Twenty five pounds? If your profile picture is recent, you sure don't look like you need to lose anything, let alone 25 pounds! What is your weight doing now? Are you thinking you aren't eating enough? If so, try increasing your calories and see where it takes you. If you start gaining instead, then go back down. I'm curious though. Is this a MFP calculation? I don't recall that being part of it. I just assumed it gives you calories based on your basic rate and then adds your exercise calories in. On rest days Garmin says I burn just about the calories MFP says I should eat to lose half a pound a week. So, those days I know I'm actually eating more than I should. But, it's only 1430 calories, so I go with it.
I feel like I am rambling. Hope you get what I mean.

I carry most of my weight in my stomach and thighs. My upper body is pretty good.
No, I don't use the MFP calcs. They always give me like 1200-1400 and that's way too little. I use the TDEE method.
My weight is staying pretty steady. I feel hungry most days. Going to try the increase for a few weeks or so and see how it goes.2 -
@bearly63 - I hope your daughter's MCAT goes on as scheduled and she does awesome on it! Love that your breathing on the bike is creepy 😂 I did a 24 hour pee test too but mine was on strips of paper and gave so much information on hormone levels. I have only had blood tests for calcium though. Are they doing a thyroid scan or just blood tests? I think they are feeling to see if the gland is swollen or if there are nodules or it might be like @Elise4270 and the parathyroid is enlarged.
@Elise4270 - glad you got your surgery scheduled. So funny about the delivery! I can't believe the things that crazy is doing and getting involved in. They were only together a couple of months right? I agree that the Go-Fund-Me shouldn't look like it is something 'the family' is requesting. I also can't believe she thought it was ok to do this. I hope you can get the phone back and get the code for it. It might be that the phone company can help you unlock it if need be.
@ddmom0811 - I did the 10 day/2 week cycle on my Invisalign's too. It worked great and I agree it is pretty amazing how well they work.
@RunsOnEspresso - The nutritionist gave me calorie intake amounts based on my activity levels so it was 1500 on a rest day (no workout) and 1950 on a single workout/easy day and 2400 on a long run or multiple workout day (run and strength training). It was way more than I had ever eaten and I was amazed that I did not gain and actually started to lose. I still struggle a bit eating at the calorie levels but right now I am not working out the way I was before either.
I got a pretty nice run/walk in this morning but I wasn't hungry afterwards and didn't eat and then had to head over for all my pre-surgery testing. It was a sh$t show. They couldn't find my paperwork and had me call the doctors office where I sat on hold forever. They kept saying the registration person should see them in my chart and she kept saying she didn't have access - all back and forth thru me! Needless to say the experience didn't inspire confidence. They eventually faxed the paperwork and I got 2 of the 3 sets of tests. There was no paperwork for the 3rd test and I wasn't going to go thru it all over again. If they need the other one I guess they will let me know.
I had grabbed a banana as I ran out of the house and was so glad to have it when I was finished. I also had half a protein bar in the car and had that too. Then had some cheese and crackers when I got home. Dinner will be leftover chicken kebob from the Mediterranean restaurant.
My weight is down again too. I am finally under 145! I just hope it stays there. I am also finding the body fat/muscle/water information from the scale very interesting.

Awww poor little guy!1 -
I may have the code to his phone now from an ex girlfriend. I don't care about the phone anymore. It's not important. Ya he'd only been with this girl for a month or so but she was a teachers aid in high school and they hung out then and off and on since.0
-
So today I've done the opposite to most other days ended the day with around 250 calories extra. Partly due to busy at work so no time to eat, and partly due to not actually being hungry. Figured not hungry, I won't eat.2
-
@shanaber Yeah for yesterday's walk. Boo for the pre op tests. That's ridiculous. In the past, if the hospital didn't have what they needed, they called the doctor's office. It crazy to have you be a go between. That just wastes everyone's time.

@RunsOnEspresso I need to lose 10-13 pounds. You wanna make a plan together? I am not sure what that would look like, but we can try anything.
food
eh, Still trying to cut back on everything. I think I should seriously get back to meal planning. Just coffee so far.
I'd like to get out for a walk today, but DH said I'm limping even more and if he goes with me, I have to listen to him ask 15 thousand times if I wanna go back/stop and then he literally walks circles around me. Dude I am going as fast as I can... So... I may go all alone, with my Frankenstein gimp. I haven't decided. I've only 12 more days of walking left, so I might make the most of it.2
