Thanks @kar328
@Dave - WoW the tree hit a chord. I use to teach Self Defence to young women and that could have been their mantra!!
Aug: 160 m running, purposeful walking, cycling
10th: 5.5 miles purposeful walking - MTD 56.28
Late tomorrow I'm travelling - when I get to my campsite I'm not sure what connectivity there will be. I think I shall spend the two weeks seeking out wifi cafes!! So if I go 'dark' .....2 -

Big day for me today. 8 mile long run in the morning. Then this evening I did a 2.6 mile "fun run." I got a prize for being the oldest participant. I was also the slowest but what the heck, I ran an 11 min pace which I thought was pretty good considering. I'm at 36/75. Rest day tomorrow and Saturday then I have a 5k on Sunday.1

even put the water in the coffee mug. Can't think about it, just gotta move.
@kar328 - That made me laugh!
@Dave - I managed it again last night!! It seems my secret is ...... starting very slowly for the first five minutes, 12m mile works for me for that first bit!! ETA - I love your image!!
Aug: 160 m running, purposeful walking, cycling
9th: 7.75 miles, 2.89m, 4.86m purposeful walking - MTD 50.78
Very disappointed with my Inter-Club race last night. I only managed 2.89m out of 4.7m on a very hilly course. It consisted of running up a hil, then down the other side. Then up a hill, and down the other side - this is where I stopped, then up a hill ..... you get my drift. There was very little flat for relief. My knees hurt a lot!!
.... the elevation of the route. As you can see there was very little respite.
This post may have the above sentence repeated a number of time - my bad!
Should never be disappointed or discouraged. You got out there, you gave it your all, be proud of the accomplishment! I am proud of you, you are doing something I would never do is running. You ROCK!!!1 -
My technology failed me, Strava dropped 6 miles (I think) off my course today. I was bummed, but rode to the cut off point and re-rode all those miles again. And today, 25 miles was my target and after the re-ride got the miles. Just not going to count the lost miles as I am not exactly sure how many. And I started at 0545 so I could get done sooner. Well give it another shot tomorrow.
08/08 - 23.0 miles cycling (0645 departure, by 0745 B.C/Oregon fire smoke made an unwelcome return, air quality: crappy)
08/09 - 23.0 miles cycling (0600 departure, by 0745 fire smoke worse than ever, air quality: crappy again)
08/10 - 25.0 miles cycling (decided on dawn patrol ride, air quality much better before sunrise)
Total: 212.0 miles

@k80flec: Hills can be a real killer on the knees. For me it is the down hill that is often worse than going up. The forward and downward movement puts a lot of stress on them. Don't beat yourself up over it, take care of those knees. I have a friend in Texas who is upset with here mile times rising. She is running in high temps and super humidity. Her body is telling her no even though she says go.
Aug. 10: Adding 13 miles today of walking 6 and cycling 7 miles
TTD: 122 miles

@anaconda469 , @clepant - thank you for your kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to hear that from you two - the 'mistresses of overcoming challenges'.1

Adding 7 miles for 17 out of 300. Still pretty smoky but it's getting better.
Adding 24 miles for 41 out of 300.
Adding 17 miles for 58 out of 300.1 -

@Dave: Love your display. I thought of you today when I saw this tee shirt. I don't know if you snore but it gave me a chuckle. It said, " I don't snore. I'm just dreaming that I am a motorcycle."2 -

Well people here in Oregon have finally lost it. In the areas of totality for the eclipse people are going nuts. Mt Jefferson, Detroit Lake, Breitenbush Lake, and other Cascade Mt camp grounds and parks are getting set to close as there is over 100,000 acres of land burning & is in the path of totality. Plus all the haze and smoke in the air and the chance of rain coming is predicted to have a great impact on how well they are going to see it. The invasion from other states and countries has begun. So you can imagine what its like living in the path of totality right now. So far every hotel, motel and B&B are full, And bedrooms in peoples homes are gong for 800 bucks a night. Crazy drivers on the roads too. Next will be the tour buses and motor homes. Oh well, I just may head south for a few days, get away from all this insanity.
