Okay *kitten* movers, here's the new thread for the AUGUST 2017 Move Your *kitten* Challenge!

PLEASE READ the directions below.

We welcome all newbies and welcome back to the oldies!

"Rules of the Challenge"
1. Set your goal and post it to the thread....distance ONLY (Miles or KMs) - NO minutes, NO # of workouts, NO # of calories, NO # of steps - DISTANCE ONLY.
2. Make your ticker if you want to use one (see directions below or in the FAQ thread) or add your goal to the thread.
3. Get moving your *kitten* starting August 1st.
4. Post as often as you can to the thread so we can keep the sheet (see link below) up to date. You are welcome to report what you are moving each time BUT please make sure you post the TOTAL miles (or kms) moved each time you update.

Please don't post any previous month's miles here. We will continue updating the previous month's spreadsheet using the old thread for approximately the first 5 or so days of the new and current month. Please add only your current month's goals/miles to this thread. Got it? :smiley:

The purpose is to set a distance goal (KM or Miles) and track your distance for the month - please only do one or the other...if you are doing KM just report in KM - we have a formula in the spreadsheet that will convert it to miles for us.

You are challenging yourself, not competing against anyone else.....the distance can be on a treadmill, stairmaster, elliptical, bike, roller blades, walking, running, biking, hiking, swimming (if you can measure).....just set a distance goal and do the work.

Report to the thread often to keep us updated because we track our info on a spreadsheet (see link below) so you can see how you are doing compared to the group but not to openly compete with them. (Whatever goes on inside your own brain is your own business. :wink: )

The idea is to set your goal and reach it before the end of the month.

Link to the Google spreadsheet where you can view (but not edit). The Challenge Admins will update it for you at mostly random times.....but typically at least once a day. Don't hold us to that though. :smile:

Directions for making a ticker:
Go to either www.lilyslim.com or www.tickerfactory.com and create a Fitness ticker. Then copy the "BB code" and paste it into your posts on this thread each time you do an update. (More detailed info is located in the FAQ thread on the MYAC Group page.)

    I have been doing 8 miles a day which, for 31 days, would be 248 miles. I'm going to round it up to 250 miles and that is my goal for August. Thanks for offering this challenge! ~ Monique

    I'm in for 160 - I am away on holiday for the last two weeks of August .... so I'm not sure how much running I'll do, or even if I'll be able to log on. Aaaaarrrrggh. Will I even make my target???

    Thanks for the logging folks. I am in for 200. Back to teaching on the 25th
    for my final year. But I will be setting up my room before then and I have Garden in the Park on the 19th so l am going to be busy.

    I'm back in for 50 miles walked and biked .

    Aug: 160 m running, purposeful walking, cycling

    1st: 9.75 miles, 5.19m running, 4.56m purposeful walking - MTD 9.75

    I did a very slow 5.19m tonight and my knees objected!!

    I'm in for 75 miles. Started the month off with a 4 mile training run this morning.

    Started my ride at 0545 this morning. Right now its 103 F, so I will continue with the sunrise rides

    Goal: 250.0 miles

    08/01 - 23.0 miles cycling (when I left this morning to ride, the time began with a 5)

    Total: 23.0 miles

    Welcome to the group Monique!

    @Anaconda: I am with Dave on the staying inside. But I am with you on the dawn rides. Just be careful of those crazy early drivers. Stay cool.

    @vhuber: I am sorry to hear about the size change over. They did send me an email awhile ago talking about going to individual sizing. But I think they are still worth a try.

    Okay, back to strength training to make my knees bionic. I signed up for a spring half marathon today. Hopefully I will continue to make a nice healthy comeback. I am giving myself enough time to increase mileage gradually. I do hate running in our yucky winters. Perhaps it iwill be another mild one like last year.

    Aug. 1: Adding 12 miles of running 3 miles and walking 9 miles.

    @TIMETOLOSEWEIGHT - It's the Lifetime Miles, but not really* lifetime, just the miles that have been tracked in the MYAC challenges. :smiley:

    In for 150.
    Since my feet were not throbbing when I got up this morning I took my fur babies out for a 2.5 mile run/walk and when the wind kicked in this afternoon & working outside was not going to happen I put in another 1.5 on the treadmill.

    I'm in for 200 miles again this month, and I determined to make it and succeed!

    25.55 miles today! Did a slightly over 2-mile bike ride.

    The ticker isn't updating, but I think it should within a few minutes. Ignore what it says below, as it still shows July.
