I'm being nice to my feet! LOL! Did a 2.5 mile jog/walk with furry kids this morning & then 10 on the ex bike AND later instead of snacking I got on the ex bike again for another 12.5 miles. 25 total miles today. Got a quarter of an inch of RAIN yesterday morning. It smelled sooo lovely! It was something but I still needed to water the garden & grass today.

@k80flec: No words could be truer. Time is going to fly. It is already some sadness. Thinking the other day about throwing away 43 years of my life. Just like that...in the trash. All the years of sweat and hard work.
@taxmom: Your work sounds like mine at times. I hope they never figure how many rocks to put in the bag. I think you are worth too much.
@anaconda: The weather has been bizarre all over. Sorry for the fires and smoke thrown in your mix.

Aug. 3: Adding 11 miles of walking 7 and running 4 mil s.
    TTD: 37 miles

So much smoke from the forest fires I can't get out to bike. I may have to resort to indoor biking again. I had that.

My friend suggested today I set up my turbo trainer again due to air quality. I'm not sure I want to take that step.......yet.

    Goal: 250.0 miles

08/01 - 23.0 miles cycling (when I left this morning to ride, the time began with a 5)
08/02 - 22.0 miles cycling (when I left this morning to ride, the time began with a 5 again)
08/03 - 23.0 miles cycling (we hit 110 F today & smoky due to fires, up with the dawn patrol again)
08/04 - 23.0 miles cycling (we only got to the high 90s today, smoky due to fires, up with the dawn patrol again)

    Total: 91.0 miles

Ticker messed up: please add 23 miles for 91/250

What the heck? I just posted but when I came back here it's not showing! Anyways, I've had all 3 GS's & my heel is now sore, so no running for awhile. Dang cuz we have cool temps! It is also very windy so I got on the ex bike for 22 miles. My house needs a good cleaning now after the kids left but I'm just sitting here enjoying the QUIET!!! lol

I was never so thrilled to see 90 F! We finally got a cool down last night so I hit the road at 0745, and the smoke is mostly gone. But the winds are going to shift out of the North again by late tomorrow, so the smoke will make an unwelcome return. On the dog bite front, right forearm flexor tendon is starting to gain strength. I didn't realize a bite going deep in the tendon would take so long to strengthen. Still painful, but I just ignore that. The month of July is my cycling mileage for charity giving month. Thanks to Mr Dog, my contrib was so small, but next July will be the best yet!

08/05 - 25.0 miles cycling (left later due to a overnight cool down, was a pleasant ride)

    Total: 116.0 miles

On August 1, 2013, 4 years ago I joined this challenge group so I could ride 1000 miles from 08/01-12/31 2013. After 4 years I am still going and it is all thanks to you members for keeping me strong through 2 serious cycling accidents and my son having life threatening surgery, oh and 1 dog bite. Here in this group is a constant welcoming atmosphere, great motivation and people helping each other through thick and thin and the bumps in the road of life. I have one milestone passed, on July 27, 2017 I have been clean and sober 6 years (thanks cycling). My next milestone will be passing 15,000 miles in this group which should have happened last month (thank you Mr Dog), but will happen in my group anniversary month. Thank you everyone from the admins to the members old and new for a great meeting place and challenge.

    250 miles August goal

    8/01 11.32 miles
    8/02 9.24 miles
    8/03 9.26 miles
    8/04 9.07 miles
    Total 38.89 miles

Most of this has been done walking outside early in the morning to avoid the 100+ degree temperatures we've been having. We're getting cooler weather now with highs "only" in the 90s. ~ Monique

Finally on the board with 10 miles out of 300. Forest Fires can really make it difficult. I had to resort to an indoor trainer.

Wow, it's been four years? anaconda, you have certainly had more than your share of challenges but you always come back strong. You are one of the strongest women I know and I do look forward to checking in and watching you go. I ache for you when the setbacks hit, but it's always amazing to watch you bounce back from things I'm not sure I could tackle. Thank you for being such a big part of this group and reminding me that nothing is too hard to face down and keep going. Happy Anniversary!

Not a bad few days around work. Finally asked my supervisor for some clarity and I know better where to focus and which projects can go on the back burner. I already knew the answer, but I am too close to the situation to trust my own judgement. Added 7.75 miles in the last 3 days for a August total of 12.25 miles. :)

Now it's off for a long walk before an online training session. Yes it's Sunday, but I'm taking tomorrow off to spend some time with Mom, so this is a sacrifice I am willing to make for that.

@anaconda469 - Tendons take longer to heal because they don't have a direct blood supply. All their nutrition comes from transudate. Muscles have a rich blood supply and heal quickly. Same with bones. You can sprain an ankle and it will take longer to heal completely than breaking your ankle. The swelling will go down quicker and the long term problems are less but a bad sprain can take up to nine months to heal completely. That's part of why a plantar fascia injury takes so long to heal. No direct blood supply.
