9 mile long run yesterday. Block party today and I feel like I ate 9 pounds of food. :'(

Congrats to clepant on making goal! I hope knowing you made it over the goal line makes up for a terrible week!

@Janet:Knowing that I will not deal with all that stress in 11 weeks makes up for all the bad weeks to come. Will miss the kids but not the behavior issues. I spent more time last week correcting behavior issues then I did actual teaching. There is just something wrong with that. I was thinking how nice it will be to get up early and go run or ride.

@clepant When people ask if I miss teaching, I always say I miss the kids, but not all the kids.

I rode over a mountain yesterday, 41.67 miles with 3,097 feet of elevation gain.

I'm really late to the party this month, but after last month's fiasco didn't want to sign up if I was going to wind up back on the couch. Please put me down for 50 miles...now I have to figure out exactly how many I have done so far, lol. Thanks :)

@Just_Ceci - power move toward the goal line! That's a lot of miles, not to mention a lot of elevation.

Thinking about what you and clepant say about missing the kids made me think about my own retirement. I don't miss getting up at 5am. I don't miss the long days. I don't miss being too busy to take care of myself. But I do miss the people I worked with and the feeling of accomplishment. Maybe those are universal feelings when people retire. Except those couple of kids or co-workers that you really don't miss at all.

I rode my bike to church today, which puts me at 66/75.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Just tallied miles so far. 37/50 done as of yesterday - mostly walking miles with a little "running" thrown in.

@Janet: You are right, I will not miss 5 am rises, writing lesson plans each week, journaling all the things I do to prove I am a good teacher, writing student learning goals...but I will miss my work family who go in the trenches with me every single day, and I will miss the need to accomplish things, even overcoming challenges...and I will miss the hugs most of all.
One 8 year old asked me if I liked teaching and I said I do. And she asked me if I was going to go and teach somewhere else and I said no. She proceeded to ask me why I was leaving if I liked my job and I was not going to teach somewhere else. She could not understand why I would want to leave them. That hurt...ouch! So I have been skipping my lunch and hanging out with kids. Just taking it all in. In truth, I still see myself teaching, a kids garden club or girls on the run program...I am sure I will still be at it somewhere and some way.Adding 13miles of walking 7 miles and cycling 6.
    TTD: 228 miles
