It has been a brutal week at school. Kids are bonkers, none of them seem to be listening. Ahh...and last day of coaching, covered too many classes for lack of subs, handled too many bus issues. Thankful for a weekend.

9 mile long run yesterday. Block party today and I feel like I ate 9 pounds of food.
Congrats to clepant on making goal! I hope knowing you made it over the goal line makes up for a terrible week!

@Janet:Knowing that I will not deal with all that stress in 11 weeks makes up for all the bad weeks to come. Will miss the kids but not the behavior issues. I spent more time last week correcting behavior issues then I did actual teaching. There is just something wrong with that. I was thinking how nice it will be to get up early and go run or ride.

I'm really late to the party this month, but after last month's fiasco didn't want to sign up if I was going to wind up back on the couch. Please put me down for 50 miles...now I have to figure out exactly how many I have done so far, lol. Thanks0

@Just_Ceci - power move toward the goal line! That's a lot of miles, not to mention a lot of elevation.
Thinking about what you and clepant say about missing the kids made me think about my own retirement. I don't miss getting up at 5am. I don't miss the long days. I don't miss being too busy to take care of myself. But I do miss the people I worked with and the feeling of accomplishment. Maybe those are universal feelings when people retire. Except those couple of kids or co-workers that you really don't miss at all.
I rode my bike to church today, which puts me at 66/75.
I hope you all had a great weekend!1 -

@Janet: You are right, I will not miss 5 am rises, writing lesson plans each week, journaling all the things I do to prove I am a good teacher, writing student learning goals...but I will miss my work family who go in the trenches with me every single day, and I will miss the need to accomplish things, even overcoming challenges...and I will miss the hugs most of all.
One 8 year old asked me if I liked teaching and I said I do. And she asked me if I was going to go and teach somewhere else and I said no. She proceeded to ask me why I was leaving if I liked my job and I was not going to teach somewhere else. She could not understand why I would want to leave them. That hurt...ouch! So I have been skipping my lunch and hanging out with kids. Just taking it all in. In truth, I still see myself teaching, a kids garden club or girls on the run program...I am sure I will still be at it somewhere and some way.Adding 13miles of walking 7 miles and cycling 6.
TTD: 228 miles
