Paula, I'm so happy that switching worked for you. I've had sciatica...it sucks!

Shelley, do you use your phone to get on MFP? If you do, what app do you use? The gardeners planted the flowers out front this morning. It's raining right now, but I'll get a picture when the sun comes out again.

144.6 this morning at 5:00. Meet w/our trainer this afternoon.

We got a Winward Luxury Firm Legends Matt King Prime. DH didn't want to get something online that he couldn't test out...we don't have any showrooms for Purple or Amerisleep here in Oakley. So we go to the Mattress Firm store...did I ever tell you DH really dislikes salesmen? I thought we could get two Twin Extra Long mattresses...one he would be happy with and one I could sleep on and not have EXTREME BACK PAIN when I woke up...But he wouldn't even consider it when he saw what it would cost. He finally said..."Get the one you like. I don't care. Let's just get this done." I hope he is happy with what I got. I was hoping if he went for the Twin EL, that I could get the Purple Twin EL, but it didn't work out that way. There is more to the story, but I will spare you the details...MEN!!!

I did get a Purple seat and back cushion. I like them. I might try the pillow. Shelley, did you get the Purple pillow???

Ronan is calling...we changed out old whirlie gigs for new ones in the front and back yards this morning. So fun!

Chris, How long did your sciatica last? Did you lose muscle strength? Googling it said it can last 4-8 weeks and muscle weakness (which I have) can indicate disk problems. They've scheduled an MRI for me for tonight.

What helped or hurt? Any advice would be appreciated.
    • heat/cold
    • tylenol/stronger
    • exercise/walking/(stretching nerve)
    • relaxation (prone/reclined/sitting/standing)
    • sleeping flat/propped up/back/side

Had to take a hydrocodone this morning, the pain wouldn't go away.

170.5# this morning. Up from last week, but that's okay. I know I'm eating diddly-squat, can't do any better than that.

    Love to y'all!

Paula, it was a while back and it lasted a few weeks. I walked a lot...sitting made it crazy hurt. Sleeping was fine...I'm a side sleeper. Ibuprofen is what I took. Then one day it was gone. I'll ask our trainer if she remembers what exercises we did.

Now, I did have an MRI in Dec...no fun there...and came away with wide spread cervical arthritis. I don't know if that had anything to do with it because it was a long time between them.

Yeah, I thought I was never going to get back in the regular way and using my phone was not fun.

Can Chris and I text you at Rocky's phone when we want to reach you and text is easier than call?

144.4 this morning at 4:30. Walked at 5:30...crazy fog! It was cool watching it on the little canal we walk along but by the time we got home Oakley was fogged in. DDD was fogged in. It's beautiful now but crazy this morning.

    Hope everyone is doing okay.

169.5 - back out of the 170's again.

Had an MRI last night - if it is negative, then this pain is probably "just" sciatica and "only" needs tme to heel and pain killers to dull the aches & shooting pains. It's not too bad as long as the hydrocodone kicks in and I don't move around too much. Coping...

    Wishing you all well.

Paula I am so sorry you have to cope. No fun and nice weather is almost upon us. I hope you can curl up by a weather and at least get some sun. I am hoping the MRI is negative. How long does it take for that sciatica crap to heal? Hugs and get well. <3

Chris I used to ?I've walking by the lake when it was foggy. Kind of peaceful and creepy at the same time. It snowed here today!

    139 this morning.

Hey Kathy, how does it feel to weigh 30-35 pounds less this year?

Shell, the national weather report said you might be getting slush? One of my least favorite weather ever, cold and wet and messy, yuck! If raincoats were lined with down it wouldn't be so bad - but they aren't - so, yuck!

Chris, enjoy your mysterious beautiful crazy fog. I love that "alien fantasy atmosphere" feeling - anything can be.

I can't sit either; but walking also hurts my hip/leg so reclining is best for me, preferably with a pain pill and a rumbling kitty. MRI found stuff, but I don't know if it is/isn't sciatica or is/isn't permanent - waiting for answers.

Ran out of sick time. They have to hold my job for me for 3 months, then who knows. Work is in a quandary not knowing if/when I'll be back. I think we're both frustrated.

    169# this morning.

I'm so sad for you Paula. So miserable. Get better, my friend. Hope whatever comes back form the doc is better news.

    Nice job, Kathy!

Shelley...139? You doing something the rest of us should be doing? Keeping secrets? Paula shared her new method. :D

    143.8 this morning at 5:00.

Had Ronan this morning...such a treasure. Meeting w/our trainer shortly. Might walk a little later. We'll see.

Paula, Chris said it better than I could. Hugs and hoping all gets better. Can co-workers donate sick time to you?

I knew it, Shelley!! I think you would have been more excited if you had been 139. I would have been...I will be whenever I get there. ;)

Walked to the post office this morning to drop off our auto insurance payment. UGH! DH got nailed for crunching the Santa Fe. Oh, well...best part was that no one was hurt. Dealing with the woman's husband was very curious, indeed. They may not have been insured...just guessing.

Chris I some how missed your post about the mattress. I hope you two are happy with your choices. I did not get the purple pillow. But a friend did and he loves it. He also has the mattress and loves it. Cost for something that relieves pain is worth it. And Rocky never complains about back pain now. I also missed a post about the accident. So glad everyone is ok. :)

So tonight I moved 4 of the smaller fish into the large tank from their quarantine home. The ones I moved are the two new Picasso clown fish and the pair of red mandarins. Not sure if I mentioned I also got a Flame Hawk Fish over a month ago. He is silly. Think I will call him Hawkeye Pierce. Lol. Had him in chloroquine phosphate for a full month. He is parasite free now. That is the medication I had to get a prescription for. 6 months of quarantine has been a long time. Probably over kill but I am excited and happy. Hard to believe I have had the juvenile angelfish almost a full year now. She is only 3 inches long now. She was tiny when I got her. :)

    Night everyone,
    Have a wonderful Friday

Lol Paula! They are a favorite fish due to their personality. I spent several hours catching the rest of the fish out of quarantine and slowly acclimating them into the large tank. Well most. One of them went inside of a rock. I will try and catch it tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that they all survive the move.

How is everyone? Kathy and Paula? I sure hope your both feeling better. <3

Surprise!!! I had 22,339 steps yesterday!! Total of 10.23 miles!

Walked this morning, went w/DH to get his blood drawn, went to the nutrition store for nutrition bars, went to Home Depot for front yard flowers to replace dead plants that the gardener doesn't seem to see! UGH!!!!

Got a Shiatsu Massage Pillow w/Heat yesterday...used it this morning...WOW!...sure helped my back most of the morning then I used it again just now and it's great! Maybe this is the answer. I'll just keep trying. Ummm...it was much cheaper than a new bed, for sure! :o ***sigh***

Nice loss Chris. And a heated pillow sounds divine! So envious. :) That is a serious amount of walking my friend. Great going!

Success! My granddaughter, Kaeldra, does her bike today. She was so proud of her accomplishment. Going to take her out riding again tomorrow. Hopefully next weekend she will be ready for a paved path around a good course. I will get out my bike even. Sanara is working out with me in the morning. B)

I so miss Sara working out with me. Can't wait for summer break. You are so lucky to get to workout w/Sanara, Shelley.

Thanks, Shelley! It was a crazy day! We took Ronan to the 'Horse Park' which they are turning into a Dog Park...which we will probably start calling the Hog Park or the Dorse Park...we'll have to put it out there for a vote. Anyway, he got to watch a guy cut into the soil with a giant blade. He waved to Ronan, Ronan waved back. Then it was all around the park!! Great day!

The massage pillow is pretty nice. Pat's back surgery won't let him use it the same way I can. He can do his shoulders tho.

144.2 this morning at 5:30...so much for the 143's this week!! What do you guys want to do for May exercises?

Walking this morning then we are going to Lowe's so I can pick out flowers that are NOT annuals...don't rush me when I don't know what I'm doing and there are 100 beautiful plants hanging around...**sigh**

Chris annuals are really wonderful. Most bloom throughout the season, not just for a couple of weeks. They are great for pots. And some will seed themselves. I love the versatility of both annuals and perennials. :) The park sounds like a lot of fun. B) Dorse park sounds fun. What will be your vote?

Sanara only gets to workout with me on Sundays. But I do love it. ;) Took Kaeldra out with her bike again. Worked on going downhill and applying ones brakes slowly. No wrecks! I think I will get my bike out of the mothballs and go riding next weekend with her.

All the fish are doing good in the large tank. But I could not find the missing one. It must have trapped itself in a rock. :'( I moved them around hoping it would show up. No luck. The starfish that I put in the tank with it are doing better. And the snails.

I painted some solar, metal flowers for the garden beds. Love the way they turned out. B) And as for May, I think I will keep doing Aprils. They are simple but effective.

176.6 this morning. Last week was very busy. My first week working in a couple of weeks. Did work out as much as I should have except for Tennis. Going to do more this week as I get packed for our girls trip to Destin. Is anyone like me and need a week off before vacation to get ready?

144.6 this morning at 5:00 a.m. This 144 stuff is getting to me...where are the 143's, huh?

Gardener planted my new plant... #2 Sweet Pea Shrub: Petite Butterfly. (Polygala fruticosa)...out front this morning replacing something dead. So, I have two new ones out front. Hope these grow up okay. Pat will plant the annuals in the back yard, so Ronan can water them.

Meeting w/our trainer this afternoon. No yoga on Saturday...Sara had a really bad knot in her back. It's getting better.

Shelley. We can keep going w/April's workout in May!

Kathy sorry, takes me about a day to get ready. But only because I leave notes on everything with care instructions for my daughter. Glad to hear you Are feeling up to doing more. Your vacation plans always sound so exciting.

Chris do you really have a gardener or is that DH? I was just thinking of trying another butterfly bush. Maybe it would survive our winters if it was closer to the foundation. Getting Ronan interested in gardening is an awesome idea.

I want to but my largest bed. About 60 by 5 feet. New compost, out with the old and in with the new. It varies in height. I wanted it level.

Did not workout today. Awful migraine. :s

Shelley...our lawns were beautiful when we moved in...DH just had back surgery...gardener was part of the deal. These guys are our third try. They are the ones who took out our grass and made the yards drought tolerant. DH worked for the Water District (treated water) and it made him crazy to water grass. So, I won't even tell you about our lawns at our last house...nopey, nope. However...these guys make me crazy. A plant is dying...something is wrong...find out why and fix it. Don't make me come out there and explain the dead thing to you!!! **sigh**

143.8 this morning at 5:00. We were going to get up at 3:45 and walk before we picked up the boys at 6:30, but it did not happen! Later...maybe.

    Okay, must go shopping now.

I understand Chris. I take it there is a watering system for those plants that you have. you might have to do your own research to understand what is wrong with them. The gardener must think he is just there to, I don't know, collect a check! >:) Hope DH back is feeling better.

I think this weekend I will start on the largest bed. DH hates it when I start getting rid of plants. But I am the one who cares for them. And I want a new look. :p

I want a new look too!! A new look of gardeners!! But DH won't get rid of them. I'll just have to buy new plants, have them pull the old ones and make sure they are getting water.

DH is better but has metal in his spine and new hips.

Took the boys up to Dorse Park this morning. Had a ball. Watched the workers move soil and make noise with their big machines!
