Hello Team Slimsons and Welcome to November!!

My name is Ashley @AB0215 I will be your captain for this month.

    Here's a little about me:
I am 32, and I have been overweight basically my entire life and in the last 18 months or so, I decided to change that, I have been working towards that goal for the past year. I'm down about 72 lbs and I still have a way to go, and I just recommitted to my goal. Let's do this!

Please feel free to introduce yourselves and share your goals for the month, I'd actually like to encourage this as I know that for me it helps me to have some accountability and helps me reach my goals when I share them..and with that in mind, my goal this month is to lose 5 pounds. I've been training for an Olympic Style Weight lifting competition and it's coming up this month, I've got a couple more pounds to shed before then, and also a lot of training too!

We are also going to be running (Optional) Mini-challenges again this month: Question of the Week and Daily Posts

First and foremost is that participation in these challenges is optional. It's up to you as to whether you want to try this. If you don't want to participate in these challenges, you don't have to, the choice is yours, but I would like to encourage you to participate as it seems to help keep us on track and thinking about our goals on a daily basis and it's encouraging to see other's successes and struggles so that we realize that we are not alone!!

The Daily Posts Challenge is based on another challenge on MFP called UAC (Ultimate Accountability Challenge). The way UAC works is that the aim is to follow 5 basic rules.

#1. Track EVERYTHING you eat that has calories.
#2. Stay inside your allocated daily budget.
#3. Try to do at least 20 minutes of activity a day (anything: walk, run, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym, etc.. As long as it gets you active and off the couch)
#4. 1 pass day permitted per week (went over calories, could not track, not enough exercise, intentional pass)
#5. Check in daily (tracking yes/no, calories yes/no, exercise yes/no).

****End of the week. those who have managed to keep to plan for 6 out of 7 days are recognized in the thread as being part of the weekly "Winners Circle".

A side note as there has been a bit of confusion for new members in the past, this is not the same as the official results, which are weight based, this is just another tool to help you reach your weight loss goals.

    **REMEMBER**
You set your own daily budget.
You choose you own exercise and intensity (no step limit, no exercises you cannot or should not do, 20 mins of gardening counts as much as a 10 mile run, activity is activity, anything that gets you up and moving!).
Is not weight based (as weight fluctuates day by day).
    Can continue beyond weight loss.

Daily check in keeps you in touch with those doing similar. Longer term weight management is hard to do on your own.

It also has frequent resets (as in a circle each week).

It works on an honor system. Being honest with yourself and others is a key to making things work. Remember, this is a judgement free zone, everyone has good days and bad days, but the way to get to the finish line is by being honest and when we have a bad day, picking ourselves up and carrying on the next day!

Consistency and new habits have been shown the only long term successful way to change weight. We all want the progress made here to last a lifetime.

Your posts should look like this:
    Daily Post (Sunday/Date)

    Track: Yes/no
    Calories: Yes/no (were you under)
Exercise: Yes/no (what type and how long)
Goals/Day/Comments: (Tell us a brief description about your how your day went or your goals for the day)

The Question of the Week Challenge is a fun participation booster and we will be using it sometimes just as fun and sometimes it can help to foster new ideas for others as we all are different and have different experiences so sharing ideas can help someone else with motivation of freshening up their routine even!! Keep on the lookout for these questions.

Please post your weight on your scheduled weigh in day, as if you miss weigh-ins, you may be eliminated from the challenge and we don't want to see that happen!!

Your posts should look like this:
    Username:
    Week: November Week 1
    PW =(previous weight)
    CW=(current weight)
Just type PW & CW if you'd like (or if it's easier, you could keep a note on your PC desktop to make it easier to copy and paste from week to week.)

Please, please setup your posts in that format as it really makes it much easier for me to track your progress for the challenges and the weight loss!!

I'd like to help us be as successful as possible and if I can help in any way, please let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions for the team or fun ideas to spice things up a bit, please feel free to share them, I look for new ways to help engagement and keep people motivated!!

I am committed to this group and to help where I can, and please let me know if I can help in any way!!
Side note--I follow a Ketogenic diet for any that may be interested, I have tons of recipes and resources for anyone interested.

Welcome to November and let's make things happen this month together!!

    Your Captain,
    Ashley (@AB0215)

    Hi,
I'm Lianne, I'm 42 and I have been a yo yo dieter, doing mainly weight watchers. It has been successful for me at times but here I am.
I have recently embarked on a new venture and have a personal trainer who has got me calorie counting and strength training as well as aiming to lose weight.
I am truly going to give this 100% effort!
Good luck to everyone in the slimsons, let's smash this xx

    Hi Slimsons!

This is my 3rd month doing the challenge! I’ve really enjoyed chatting with our teammates and hitting our shared goals.

I’m from NYC, I’m doing diet, cardio and weights to lose inches. I’ve lost 40lbs and looking to lose another 10. My goal by Nov 30 is 6 lbs.

I especially like being a part of the challenge during the holidays since it keeps me fitness oriented. Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be a binge fest and I can eat an appropriate amount. #holidayfitnessgoals ☺️

    Hi!
I'm Anna! This is my 1st month doing the challenge. I've been on a weight loss journey since the beginning of August and have lost 12 pounds since then. I started my journey with Noom and have learned quite a bit about myself, why I do the things I do (in relation to food), and have made some positive habits and behavior changes over the past 3 months.

I will soon be starting the post-phase of the Noom program but am not close to my overall weightloss goal yet and really feel that there is still some (loads and loads) of benefit for me to find additional ways to connect with others while continuing along this journey.

I love the group support and find that it really DOES work to maintain my motivation and committment.

My goal for this month is to maintain a steady loss of of up to about 5 pounds. I think that (minimally) I will be satisfied with that. Of course, a couple more wouldn't be bad either!!
    😊

@liannexx Welcome!! Glad to see someone using a trainer, that's how I started down the path of weight loss and it's really helped, sort of life changing, honestly and it really helps to have another person in your corner!

I’m Kathleen, 28 years old, and mom to a 16 month old. I was about 25 pounds overweight before pregnancy and then I gained a ton of weight during pregnancy. I’m about 30 pounds or so from goal weight. My goal this month is to lose 4 pounds and be able to take my wedding ring on and off easily.

Can’t wait to reach our goals together!

@kathleenford04 Great goals! Welcome to the team, hope you find this challenge helpful in meeting your goals!

@Birda46 I think it's important to learn as much about yourself as you can, why you do what you do, that way you can turn that energy into a positive way to meet your goals. We all have different things that make us do what we do, whether it's what we want or not and it's really about learning who you are and how you can use that to meet your goals. Glad to see you're already well on your way to figuring that out, congrats on your success so far, hope you find what you need to make it the rest of the way while you're here with us! Welcome to the team!

I've consistently been about 25-30 lbs overweight for the last several years. So here I am, hoping to shed that weight (4 lbs in November would be great)! I would like to reduce added sugar and carbs, and also try out some Paleo recipes from time to time. If you have a favorite, please share!

Hi Slimsons, new and old! This will be my second month on here and I am hoping to drop 5 pounds. I have lost 20 since June so I seem to average about 5 pounds a month. Not sure if I made it this month yet — weigh in for me is Friday! Fingers crossed! But I have learned many new idea and have enjoyed the support of all my teammates! Looking forward to staying the course, especially through Turkey day! Good luck everyone!

Hi guys! My name is Sana, I'm 22, in my last year of college.

So I joined this group in January, lost some weight, went into a weight loss rut for a few months, and am losing again. I've lost 20ish pounds total and around 13 since joining the challenge. I actually reached my goal of losing 5 pounds in the last challenge and got to my goal of 183.0 this morning so I'm going to do it again this month!
I have a better understanding of what leads to my weight fluctuations from last month and I think I should be able to avoid them better.

My overarching goal for this month is to get to lose a total of 7 pounds and get to 175.0.

The way I'm going to reach this goal is through my smaller goals:
-Eating at 1400 and under 1500 calories. This helps me feel satiated and still be in a calorie deficit.
    - Exercising 3 times a week. If I can't make it to the gym, I need to do this at home immediately after getting back from school because otherwise I'll make excuses.
    - Drinking 2.5 liters of water a day (had been slacking the past week).

I'm excited to start our November journeys together!

Hi everyone! My name is Brittany (aka Britt) and this is my second month in the BLC.

My goal is to loose at least 5 lbs. in November since I did not meet that goal in October, and drink at least 40oz of water. I know that's not a high water goal, but I am horrible at drinking enough and soda/beeritas are my weakness 🍻. Overall, I want to get to 120lbs. With the holidays coming up, I think the BLC is a great way to have accountability.

I'm looking forward to meeting goals with all of you! Feel free to add me on MFP!

Hi, I am Cindy and this is my first month doing the challenge. I'm 55 years old and have had weight problems off and on since college. When I started MFP about 3 weeks ago I was at my highest weight of 273 lbs....I'm currently at 261. I'm only 5'2" so that is not good. In the past I have tried many programs (WW, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, South Beach, Phen-fen, gastric lap band surgery) with varying degrees of success. Currently I am seeing a doctor at a weight loss clinic in my city. I will also be seeing a dietitian and a personal trainer at their facility too. My doctor also recommended that I come here and start charting everything.

My goals for November include losing 10 lbs but also to keep to my every day tracking. My only exercise now is getting up from my desk and taking a brisk 5 minute walk up and down the hall every 2 hours. In the next month I plan to incorporate using my exercise bike (or walking outside) when I am at home on the weekends.

The first 12 lbs came off easy....now comes the hard part.

Hi everyone! My name is Michelle and this is my first month in this group. I'm 36 and I live in Maine and work in New Hampshire. I started my fitness journey in June 2018 and have lost about 35 pounds. I still have about 30 pounds to go but am in no rush as I am making solid progress. I am a super busy person and this keeps me out of trouble. I team full time and work two additional part time jobs and try and go to the gym at least four times a week (I'm trying to bump it up to five times a week but it's tough).

My goal this month is to hit the 200 pound mark but it might be too ambitious as this month is looking to be stressful (in addition to everything else, I have jury duty, my mom is having back surgery and my father-in-law is having knee surgery), but I am up for the challenge! I am also working on no more cheating and if I do eat something off my meal plan, tracking it instead of pretending it hasn't happened.

    I'm excited to meet everyone!

    Hi All!!

My name is Kim - I am a wife, mom of 4 and a nurse. I live in Minnesota and it's getting cold here. I'm glad to meet all of your and your interesting stories.

I have gained 30 lbs over the last 2 years due to several reasons. I am actually eating Halloween candy as I write this. LOL. Only 2 days. I swear.

I committed to a "commit to fit" group for the month of November and December to keep it all in check. Plus, I have subscribed to the Daily Burn which has lots of at home exercising to do. I plan to sign up for some 5K's along the way - but again, it's getting cold out.

    SW: 202.6
    GW: 197.0

    Let's kick some @ss!!

    Hello Team Slimsons,

I AM BACK TO GETTING MY HEALTH BACK ON TRACK!!

    My name is Gloria @gjaholy33
I am 39 years old and trying to lose 200lbs by April so I won't have to do the bariatric surgery. There are a lot of days which the pain is unbearable along with additional health issues such as asthma and pulmonary hypertension due to a long slow gas leak in my apartment has not help matters but since I am determine to lose 200lbs I know I have to Stay positive and look forward and not back at what I did yesterday.

I am currently STRUGGLING JUST TO MAINTAIN FROM DAY TO DAY on my weightloss journey. BUT I HAVE BEEN PRAYING AND MEDITATING MORE IN ORDER TO REMAIN POSITIVE WHICH TO ME IS KEY TO BEING SUCCESSFUL AT MY GOALS. ALTHOUGH I am surprised that I'm actually losing weight but my friend Ashley is helping me with starting Keto Lifestyle and its really working.

I always set goals for myself and this month my goal is to lose 30lbs!

    Daily Post (Thursday, Nov 1)

    Track: Yes
    Calories: Yes, within goal
Exercise: Yes-10min yoga, an hour of walking/carrying my son around the Children’s Museum
Goals/Day/Comments: Today was a little rough because my son is sick and it poured rain all day. I couldn’t get out for a walk and was stir crazy enough to brave a museum with an under the weather baby! My meal times were off so I was hungry at points, but I was able to tell myself that overeating was not going to fix that problem.

This is my fourth month with this outfit, and I thoroughly enjoy it. It holds me accountable, to log daily, and gives me motivation in my quest to lose weight. Ashley is a great Capt, always there for encouragement or a kick in the butt. I'm recently retired, married to my best friend and college sweetheart for 37+ years. We have two grown sons, both married and a precious 2 1/2 year old grandson I aptly dubbed Bubby. Highlight of my week is picking Bubby up from daycare two days a week and hanging out. We also have a chunky English Lab that hates walks, pools, dog parks, the beach, and fetching. Bacon. She loves bacon.

Started this weight loss journey on 23 June. To lose 120 lbs. I've knocked almost 40 off, so I only have to do it 2 more times. I have started and quit numerous times, but this time I am motivated, laser focused and will not stop till I reach my objective. Gonna hit some snags on the way. Lord knows, I had a tough month in October. Hired a new nutritionist, and a trainer, went off to Florida for week to help with hurricane relief, and had my worst weight loss month ever. But, it's not going to stop me. And I know it will get better.

Best advice I can give is to please stick to the plan. There is a reason why we are all here. If you have a bad day, or a bad week, don't give up. Keep pushing. Ask for help. Seen too many good people on here just quit and leave after their first week.

Good luck to all. Glad y'all are part of this group. Go Slimsons!

@jcgator2016 I still love the introduction, still don't I've actually issued a kick in the butt yet, but it could happen, welcome back, you've been killing it Jim!

    Daily Challenge

    Daily Post (Thursday/11-1-18)
    Track: Yes
Calories: Yes I was under budget.
Exercise: Yes (25 minutes brisk walking up/down hills)
Goals/Day/Comments: (My goal for the day was to meet my step# and increase the speed with which I cover the same distance. I am getting more consistent at my pace of walking brisk enough to be winded without being out of breath, yet not be jogging. This is important as I am usually walking in the midst of my workday. Halloween candy is a struggle but I held it to my goal limit and was able to "walk away" without falling into old habits. stayed just under my calorie budget!!

@CindyJNC1963 Hi Cindy and welcome! I'm only 4'10" myself and I started my journey at 241. I think that one of the best things I did was hire a personal trainer. Having someone help me in the beginning gain confidence in the gym and help me stay on track with my nutrition really helped me develop the healthy habits I needed to succeed, glad to see you're getting help, it's hard to do, but so worth it!

@orngnerdz Welcome Michelle! You're doing great! I am with you, being busy keeps me out of trouble too, for the most part, I work 2 jobs, train 4-6 days a week 1-2 hours a day, and hang out here
The challenge is staying on track when things don't go our way though, like with the family and your upcoming jury duty, but you got this!
