@texasgardnr - Week one done. It's not hard to meet your exercise goals in the spring is it? There's always something to be done in the garden! I put up a hummingbird feeder yesterday. Can't wait for them to show up.

    Hi y'all.
It's been a very long time since I visited this group. Obviously, I haven't been doing Leslie Sansone. But, I did just start back today. I did Burn 30. I'm not sure how to enter the exercise calories, though. I'm open to a suggestion for that.

My goal is to do Burn 30 3 days a week and Firm 30 3 days a week.
I have been successfully dieting since the first week of March, but had not added in any exercise. So, this is my plan for the next 30 days.

    Thanks for being, here!

    Last weeks miles tracked: 21.6 / 80.
Yay for nice weather and the chance to spend time outside and in the yard. We took a tree down last and it was nice this weekend that we got to burn everything that had come down in storms and whatnots.

@VeggieGirlforLife : I too, wouldn't mind one of those tank tops.

    @Elbee1 : Welcome back.

@AnnofB, so true, Ann! Gardeners love this kind of seasonal exercise :) . I love humming birds also. I'm planning to get a feeder for the back porch real soon. I just hung out two "million bells" (calibrachoa") hanging baskets on the empty pole in the back fence flower garden this morning. They're supposed to attract hummers and butterflies.

Hey @Elbee1, good to see you back here!! That is a very good plan to add in the workouts along with your dieting plan plan. Yay!

@VeggieGirlforLife, having one of Leslie's sparkly "WALK" tank tops sure would be a lot of sparkly fun for sure.

@Deeder522, that was an awesome chunk of cleanup that you did the past two weekends! Great burn! Both the fire and the exercise  .

My April goal: to exercise at least 5 days a week.

April 1st: 30 minutes outside walking, 2 hours yard/ garden
    April 2nd: 2 hours yard/ garden
    April 3: 3 hours yard/ garden
April 4: 3 miles: Jessica Smith: 1 mile Wake Up & Walk, 1 mile Walk & Talk, L.S: 1 mile Walk 15, 1 Walk Blaster
April 5: 1 hour, 45 minutes yard/ garden, more than an hour grocery store (plus the garden area) walking
April 6: more than 1 1/2 hours of cleaning and decluttering. It rained today so I got into some cleaning and decluttering

    April 7: Rest day!
April 8: 2 mile U5DWP, blue miles, 1 Walk Blaster and 15 minutes outside walking. Plus cleaning and decluttering.

Yesterday was nice enough that I was able to do my first walk around the farm field. 1 Mile because it was still a bit mucky from some rain. It was nice to get out and realize I either need to wear my walking shoes more or it's time to replace them.

How often do you replace your shoes? The shoes I'm talking about I've had for 4+ years and have only used them for walk/hiking around outside.

@Deeder522 I bought new shoes for walking last year when I joined MFP and this group. I wear them only when walking for exercise, I don't wear them any other time. They're mostly still pretty good, although there are indentations inside from my toes!

@AnnofB, awesome strength and workouts last two days o:) !!

@VeggieGirlforLife, nice mileage! I really like 3 Miles START! Heart Walk  .

@Deeder522, good for you for being able to finally walk around that farm field :D !

What I have learned is that shoes 'break down' (need to be replaced) much faster inside the shoe even though the outside might still look good (especially true with indoor only shoes). Also there is a big difference in exercising only outside vs inside. Outside is much harsher on shoes :o . I have gotten some more mileage with my indoor only exercise shoes with a pair of really good insoles, however the extra mileage is probably very nearly used up, because they have lately been feeling that undeniable feeling like it is time to be replaced, so I'm going to have to put it on my calendar this month (I was already already thinking to do this last month, so thanks for the question :p . )

@knjstolt, way to go and go with all of those miles  !! Well done...

My April goal: to exercise at least 5 days a week.

April 1st: 30 minutes outside walking, 2 hours yard/ garden
    April 2nd: 2 hours yard/ garden
    April 3: 3 hours yard/ garden

April 9: 4 Miracle Miles, 2 Walk Blasters, extra cleaning and decluttering in guest room
April 10: 5 Miracle Miles, 2 Walk Blasters, 1 1/2 hours in the yard/ garden, more extra cleaning and  decluttering

@Deeder522 I had to replace mine last year but I was coming home from walks with blisters on the bottom of me feet... when I looked at the bottom of my shoes they had huge cracks and splits in them. I had warn them outside for 2 yrs of walking. Now I have shoes for outside walking and inside walking like Mary.

Well, I had to suggest that the snow was over and the Storm Gods heard me!!! I woke up to 2 inches of snow yesterday!!! Thankfully I love snow, but geez, enough already! :explode:

I am seeing a patten in the last couple of months and I need to work with it. It seems that on my work days and the weekends, I have good mileage, but on the days I work on the online classes, it goes way down. So, I am going to shift my works outs to the weekends and the mornings of the days I do the online classes and not stress about it on the workdays. That should boost those 1 and 2 mile days up even if I just do 2 miles with Leslie. I need to get my average per day up or I will not make goal again and that is simply not acceptable! :noway:

As to shoes, most athletic sites say 500 miles which for most walkers is 3-6 months and they say at the most 1 year. Leslie wrote a Shoe Talk blog a few years ago where she said if you do 3 workouts a week, you should change your shoes every 6 months. That seems like a lot to me considering how much they cost. I have generally purchased Reebok Walkers and they seem to support my feet and wear very well for about 2-3 years of indoor walking before I notice that the cushioning is getting compressed and the balls of my feel get tired more quickly than they should. I do not replace them until that happens and it varies. Seriously, at the price of athletic shoes, who cannot afford to buy new ones every 3-6 months! :flushed: I know .... Leslie!!!!

    Walk Strong Everyone!

I am not sure Michigan really knows what spring is! We seem to be going from winter to summer in the last few years and this year just seems like more of an extreme version of this. It's 34 F (1.1C) here today with freezing rain, which is more normal for late October than April. Global warming is creating some strange weather patterns that is for sure. :flushed:

Thanks Ann-I was having so much trouble getting back into a work out groove, but when I looked at the last few months, a light dawned that I need to work with my schedule and not let the online classes dictate my life. If this works well this week, I am going to stick with is as I am in training to walk my grandson around the canals of The Hague! Grandma's got to be in shape for those 4 mile "walk the baby to sleep" marathons!
