Getting ready for our early morning flight to Ohio tomorrow. So many chores to do before our three day trip.

I hope there’s a lot of love to ease the sadness this weekend.

It is literally a beautiful day today. 22° when we headed out slowly increasing to 23 by 3:30 p.m.

    Birds a-chirping dogs a-barking butterflies a-fluttering and squirrels a-running!😎

Now lm going to have to listen to it… it’s mostly very beautiful but a bit odd in the lyrics… Though I think that’s just all some strange metaphor… One of the best most perfect captures of a broken marriage ever I think…

The song title is lake Marie… And there’s a live version that will probably come up first if you should Google it that is the best version of the song anywhere I think

My depression has been bad of late and my food has for sure taken the biggest hit. I have no energy to cook so my meal plan has gone out the window this week. Been living on eggs and toast or dumplings or ramen. That is all I feel like making. Anything that requires prep, even just cutting up some veggies, is just too much.

It also doesn't help that I can't really get outside. We are getting a ton of smoke from the Canadian wildfires and our air is super unhealthy because of it. I was just out to go grab some breakfast (my weekly breakfast sandwich, donut, and tea). It is a short walk (like 3 minutes each way), but I was coughing by the time I got back to my place. Being stuck inside just makes things worse.

But I am taking some PTO this weekend. Since July 4th is on Tuesday, I am taking tomorrow and Monday off as well. So 2 days of PTO gives me a 5 day weekend. I need to get stuff done around the apartment (again, depression has kept me from doing stuff), prep some food for the freezer (breakfast burritos are on the list for sure), and just rest. A mental reset.

Enjoy your time off Athijade! Regroup and take care of some of the things you need to do. Hopefully the air will clear enough to let you get outside during your time off.

I've pre ordered a box of real n95s to have around in case of forest fire smog. Thankfully hasn't happened this year so far. But based on last year I figured better safe than sorry

Went out for lunch today. It’s just too hot to deal with food. So moderate meal that covered calorie needs. Besides it’s a holiday weekend.

Although it’s been a somewhat busy travel month, I just feel like time is crawling. Of course lethargy happens every summer here. Total energy drain.

I cant imagine living in those temperatures. We’ve had a couple of over-30 days with incredible humidity and smoke and it was just terrible. Doesn’t have that my air conditioner is it in yet 🙂 but today is about 24 and raining so it’s beautiful out there. (90 & 75)

I just got back from my final appointment with the retinal surgeon. No more steroids!!!! my retina looks good.

A few weeks ago my vision started deteriorating even more which was really scaring me. It turns out it’s the cataract I was warned would probably arrive within 3 to 6 months … It’s just coming about earlier than expected. I didn’t think it was possible to be so happy to find out you have a cataract growing 😁 but it is cause for celebration today 😜

Woohoo!!!!! 6 weeks of drops and specialty lens coming up! Woohoo!😎😘

    (Or something like that!)

    But that's GOOD news!!!!

Pffft - cataract surgery is fairly easy. I only had two weeks of eye drops. And I’ll bet the procedure is even better now. My vision hasn’t changed in years. Before it deteriorated steadily.
Outside of seeing more clearly, it also brings back color perception! I found I could again easily differentiate subtle shades of color. A nice perk especially for an artist like Laurie. 👍

I've been complaining about clarity and washed out colors and been told start of cataracts... coincidence?

How about weird reflections and glowing lights, PAV? maybe you are growing your own batch of cataracts??

I wrote a big long text that I lost so I’m just gonna stop here… And I do hear that cataract surgery is a breeze these days 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

    Hey guys. I live.

Spent the weekend just letting myself rest, mentally and physically. Snuggled the kitty, played some Sims, read some books... just allowed myself to disconnect. It was much needed and I think it really helped.

So sorry for being gone so long. I will likely post more tomorrow and catch up. Just wanted to let you know I was alive.

It’s always good to take care of you, Athijade. I hope it has brought you an ease of mind and a twinkle of vigour 🙂.

I can’t think of a better way to say it but I love those days when I wake up and I just have a little bit of excitement all the way down to my toes and I know that I’m going to have a good day!

Laurie, I am so glad to know that your recovery is going smoothly.

Yooly, I am so so sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you.

The weather is wonderful here right now. In the 70's, sunny, with a nice breeze off the lakefront. Much better then the 90+ we had last week and over the weekend. Those days were miserable and I was very thankful for my air conditioner (not all Chicago apartments have them).

I am feeling quite a bit better then I was. Still dealing with some anxiety which has really impacted my food and eating, but it is slowly getting better. I have had the energy to cook more which is a good sign. Still sticking to super easy things that don't take a lot of prep, but that is an improvement from sitting on the daybed crying about even the thought of having to cook.

Right now I am working on a list of things I want to try and work on for myself. I know there are changes I could make that could really help the next time I go through an episode like this again. Or even help keep it from even happening. I mean, I will always have Depression and Anxiety. Nothing will cure it, but maybe I can find ways to make it better.

Brilliant outlook, Athijade. Sometimes a degree of acceptance can help a great deal in learning how to shift from white-knuckle coping to something more akin to a healthy, happy(ish) life :)

I remain impressed that you have the wherewithal to tackle life and are actively trying to sort things out. Because my personal experience is with people who believe (and act on the belief) that there is nothing wrong.

hey @Yoolypr 's hubby... do I have a deal for you two.... sort of deal... that MAYBE interesting...

No personal experience and I've never flown with Frontier... so no clue how terrible the whole experience may be! (But it sounds like you get loyalty miles/points too... which surprised me) Not sure... but possibly worth checking out?

I mean it will (possibly) re-define sleeping in a plane. Because, technically, if there is an overnight flight why pay for a hotel instead of flying somewhere half asleep in your chair!!!! .. as long as you don't particularly care where you end up? And how well you sleep!

Might also cause poor Yooly to have a food planning panic attacks!!!

But! But! You may be able to visit a plethora of places... as long as you are not too picky as to where and when!!!!

Both the rest of the summer and fall pass look like they could pay off with a couple of flights.

The yearly one's a bit more of a commitment, especially for two people as opposed to just one. And also not sure if the company is under financial stress? That would be something to consider too!

Nice thought PAV but—-Frontier only has two non stops out of Austin. That’s to Denver and Las Vegas once a day I think. There are others to smaller towns. The big drawback with Frontier is that their flights are usually not daily and then only one flight on a designated day. Like maybe only Tuesday and Friday. If flight is canceled, delayed or you miss connections you may end up stuck for several days or a week. No later or next day flights to destination!

Besides we’re already booked to Hawaii in September. Mahalo 😍
