Where does the time go...brings to mind, Time Keeps On Slipping Into The Future.
New Week, New Month...I am so ready to just make something happen. Something. Seriously!
In the kitchen...making fresh juices...prepped my lunch for work. My problem area is still when I get home from work...I just seem to screw up at that time. TODAY IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT. I am going to treat myself with respect and stay true to my program.
Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Today's Menu:
Black Coffee
2 1/2 Green Juices
Pasta and my sauce
Cantaloupe
Chopped Salad...will have this when I get home from work.
Good Pop
Goals for this month:
Really focus on no high-calorie eating after work, unless it is a salad.
Catch up to @Mihani and declutter this house...(that was supposed to be my last month's goal).
Last vacation week off ...will have a ten-day break beginning Tuesday...IN THE POOL...early before the sun boils the water.
Get Lulu out on a long walk before the pool when it is relatively "cool" out.
That's it...that's my list.1 -
Thanks for starting the September thread Magic. Oh my... the clearing out of the house was a much bigger project than I anticipated, but it got done. Room by room, step by step. It was exhausting, but felt great! I just really wish I could get rid of all the junk now. It is making me seriously tense at this point. I will call the junk haulers this week.
Today was rather odd ETL wise... I was busy with work and house stuff. Two sprouted grain muffins with PB this morning, never ate lunch or anything and now making a big batch of stir "fry" beans and veggies and a pot of rice, will have a nice dinner.
1 -
Yum to your dinner @Mihani ! I am so jealous...you did it...and I am still puttering around. Hopefully your get-to-it attitude will have an impact on me.
Just about 1 1/2 hours to go...then tomorrow is my Friday...then ten days off in a row. My niece will be here Saturday...so, many days will be a visit to my sister's house, seeing and loving on the new baby...she's two months old now.
Doing just fine on my program on another DAY 1. Planning on keeping that way.
Wishing everyone a pleasant September 1st evening. Hugs!1 -
Happy September 1.
Magic - those are great goals to dog walk before swimming. I suggest getting stuff ready the night before. I have my walking outfit set out and my swim bag packed with bathing suits, towels, goggles and showering stuff. It makes it easier and I make myself walk dogs before coffee or getting sucked into the internet. Where do you swim?
Brooks made the best simple dinner tonight. He chopped up baby portobello mushrooms, sautéed in Vegan Better than Bullion, added sliced shallots and last chopped spinach...seasoned with garlic, fresh pepper and a "splash" of red wine...but I don't know if it needed that. It was so simple but delicious. I think he got tired of my continuous salads and not cooking. Hahaha.
We had a great walk this morning with all 5 dogs. Packing for trip tomorrow, clean house and final laundry on Tuesday before leaving for trip to Maui.
Then come back for a week of going through all drawers and closets. Garage will have to wait until Brooks leaves.
1 -
@bisky your dinner prepared by Brooks sounds so good...you're right so simple and yummy.
Your trip is almost here...so exciting...wishing you the best vacay ever.
Thanks for the support on my goals. Last night after work, I did a whole lot better than usual. Still room for improvement...but YES, I did improve and not shove so many high-calorie foods in me for comfort. Had baby carrots and some Bitchin Sauce/Dip. Yay!
Today for work, taking:
32-ounce green juice
carrots and Bitchin Sauce http://bitchinsauce.com/
pasta and my pasta sauce
cantaloupe
dinner: To Be Determined.
dessert Orange Good Pop
Wishing everyone a good Labor Day...no matter what you are doing.0 -
Nice dinner, Donna. I just got a package of mushrooms because I haven't been eating them lately. Going to go back to Austin's idea of nuking a couple to add to my salads. Hope you and Brooks have a wonderful time in Maui.
Magic, never heard of Bitchin' Sauce but looked at your link and it is at my Fresh Thyme. I will make a point of looking for it next time I'm there. Well done snacking on good stuff.
I worked for a few hours at home this morning, then ran down to the office for a couple hours to get a handle on the week (as much of a handle as I can anyway lol), then to Fresh Thyme to get La Croix and veggies. I can't survive without my La Croix and I was almost out! I got a cantaloupe and it is really good. I have been rather disappointed in my last few melons so I am happy to have found a really good one.
Going to have a late lunch/early dinner here and then back up to my office to get more work done. Making a sandwich of homemade hummus, peppers, pickled onions, cucumber, baby spinach. Piled high on sprouted grain bread. Nom nom! I had a sprouted grain muffin with PB for breakfast and haven't eaten since then other than a few bites of the melon when I chopped it up.
I really really need to make exercise a priority in September. So that's my goal. It's so lovely out this time of year I will walk outside or I'll hit the treadmill, and I will do something with weights every day too. I need to get my tone back. I have become mush. LOL

Happy September, everyone!
@Mihani, your decluttering stories continue to inspire me. I AM going to make progress on my home office today. Not finish, but progress!
I am with you on exercising this month! I have been doing something every day the last few weeks, and am feeling better and firmer. Now I need to keep that up and ADD training for a martial arts event coming on Sept. 28. It's a stretch but do-able. I just set up a way to track it. Here goes!
@magic71755 - It sounds like you are continuing to eat such a great ETL diet, snacks and all!
I hope you enjoy the ten days off and time with your family! Enjoy seeing that new baby!!
@bisky - Wow, a trip to Maui with your sweetie. Sounds lovely!
Your suggestions to Magic regarding prepping the day before are great. I may try that, and see if I can get my martial arts training done in the mornings. I'll need to lay out the right clothes, and in a spot I can quietly and easily get to in the morning. I can do this with planning! :-)
Good ETL day so far today:
B- blueberry-broccoli-spinach smoothie; side of almond butter and goji berries; coffee
L- turnip greens with diced turnips topped with some spicy brown mustard; savory baked tofu; steamed mushrooms; zucchini, tomato & onion bowl with spices (I am still all about Aleppo/Turkish pepper!); steamed butternut and apples with cinnamon
S- coming soon - apple slices and almond butter
D- planned - huge salad with ETL-friendly dressing and roasted beets; zucchini, tomato & onion bowl with spices; steamed butternut and apples with cinnamon1 -
Just a short note...
On my second cuppa and then it's in the kitchen ...AGAIN! I do have a green juice ready to go for today...so that's good. Will make a batch of carrot/apple/ginger
Menu:
coffee
green juice
big salad
vegan pho
veggies and bitchin sauce
good pop
Have a good one, everybuddy!
HAVE A GREAT TRIP @bisky A L O H A !0 -
How is progress on your office coming Austin? Your menus are always so amazing! I can't wait until I have time to cook again and can try out more things. I was so into it years ago, but totally lost my cooking groove the past few years.
Hope you have a great 10 days off Magic! And enjoy your visits with the baby!
I had a pretty decent ETL kind of day.
B - oatmeal with chia seeds and some blueberries
L - salad, cashew caesar, steamed beets, cantaloupe
D - veggie and hummus sammich on sprouted grain bread

Excellent menus Magic! I am a little off this week. Eating a few crackers here, a little Skinny Pop there, but lots of good stuff mostly. Veggies and homemade hummus mostly, either as salads or sandwiches. Tonight is going to be baked tostadas topped with refried beans and sauteed chard and pickled onions.
Work is still super busy, but I am definitely seeing improvement and things seem to be moving along better. We've been so backlogged for so long, and it is great to see things actually getting done. It's nice to leave work not feeling totally discouraged every day.
I'm going to bring work home for Saturday so I can do some household chores and food prepping in between getting work done.0 -
Yay @Mihani...love hearing that the workload is easing up slightly...and that you can see some light in the tunnel.
I am pretty happy with my choices lately...I think the frustration of not getting anywhere pushed me to really buckle down.
Not sure if Pita Jungle is everywhere...but had lunch with my BFF yesterday...it has a VEGAN and GF menu now. So happy!0 -
I got Lulu out for a good walk, FINALLY...now for me to get in the pool. Ugh. Dreading putting on a bathing suit. Gag me.
I think I just have to stop thinking about it and do it.
Will let you know how things go. Today is my official vacation day. Need to do something to make it special.
Off to gather my things...later, mates.0 -
Good morning, all!
Austin here! Sorry to be quiet. I should get back in the fall groove soon.
@magic71755 - Enjoy your vacation day!
And, zowie, your energy and commitment to being fitter for your 71st birthday is so inspiring!
As far as putting on a swimsuit, if you can, just include how you feel about how you look and do it anyway! We have a public spring-fed pool in the city where I live, and occasionally I go in the mornings. One of my favorite things about it -- I am a people watcher and lover-- is seeing that everybody just comes to do their thing. If I go there early in the morning, I'll see people from teenaged through 80s, some slim and most not. The scene includes triathletes practicing their swims and sometimes a cadre of older ladies, including one who rocks a retro swim cap with fluttery flower petals that I so love. We are all just there to enjoy moving and to enjoy the water and the morning. Anyway, I hope you end up enjoying your water time!
So, the Austin update:
One of my buckle down areas is trying working to develop a new habit of working on martial arts everyday. Right now I am at the stage of needing to pay big attention to having that happen each day.
On a shorter time frame, I am nibbling away at having my home office be an awesome space for work and focus. I have made some progress, but want to do much more. I have some time set aside late today to work on that.
I am also working on getting in weight training 3 times a week. I have done 2 sessions so far this week, so on track to succeed at that, after weeks of failing to hit the 2 session mark. Yay!
And I am aiming to write more regularly. Mostly have not done that this week, but going to do at least 15 minutes today!
ETLing is going well:
B today - coffee; goji berries and almond butter; smoothie of cashew milk, broccoli, spinach, blueberries, lemon juice, cinnamon, turmeric
L (planned)- huge bowl of steamed collards (with chopped onion, garlic, tomato, plus red pepper flakes); steamed mushrooms; savory baked tofu; zucchini, tomato & onion bowl; steamed butternut & apple
S (planned)- apple slices and a bit of almond butter
D (planned)- huge salad (kale, romaine, roma, bell pepper, broccoli) & plant-based dressing; ; zucchini, tomato & onion bowl; steamed butternut & apple

What a lovely post, @AustinRuadhain ...that was just so kind. I did go swimming...I live in a little patio home...attached to two others...and we are in a quad...the pool is in the middle...and then there are two big pools in the complex...anyway, swam for 45 minutes after a long walk with LULU.
IT FELT GREAT! Will get everything ready tonight. I'm into it now.
today
black coffee
carrot/apple/ginger
overnight oats
watermelon, cukes with bitchin sauce
big salad with fresh corn
big salad with beans and the rest of the corn salsa dressing
good pop...
maybe more watermelon
the end. LOVE YOU GUYS!1 -

Austin, I still have a lot to do with my office too, but at least the major clearing out is done. There is an older desk that needs to be hauled away. It was an inexpensive desk and over time it has started to sag and warp. My main work area is one of those big folding buffet tables, and once the desk is out I'm going to get two more buffet tables so I'll have those around 3 walls, plus paint the walls and get some better lighting. It will be a lovely and efficient work space then.
Magic, I'm so glad you got out swimming! I love to swim but haven't for many years. My brother has a pool at his condo and I should try to get over there now and then. It's such great exercise especially with joint problems. Your menus sound so good, and love to see all that fruit.
I admit that the exercise resolution still hasn't taken effect. I think after this weekend that I am going to finally be able to get back into something of a routine with my life and regulate my work hours a bit better. I plan to either walk or do an exercise DVD today and then keep walking every day with some other type of activity here and there. Main goal is to get back in the habit of walking every single day for at least 45 minutes to an hour.
Going to be working today from home, office tomorrow, hit the grocery tomorrow and come home to do a little prepping. My salad making pal outdid herself this week and I have a ton of veggies and fruit so all I need to do is throw together a soup (I think split pea) and bake some tofu.1 -
Morning peeps!
Up, having coffee...then walk with Lulu. Going to sister's today as niece is arriving with her DH and THE BABY. Very exciting.
I was invited for lunch, however, I explained I am completely WFPB now and well asked if it was ok for me to bring my own salad. Said this all to my niece as she is the easy one. Of course, Aunt Nanc...absolutely. So happy to hear this WOE has lessened your pain and you are able to do stuff. NOW that is a sweet child.
So,
coffee
juice
oatmeal
salad for lunch
should be home for dinner, I suspect...will have veggies of some sort
fruit
good pop
Later, dollies...btw, @Mihani you are on a great road now...and for sure everything is going to fall into place at the right time. Thank goodness you got help in that office. It is taking some time to get the dust to clear...but at least you know you will have YOUR LIFE BACK...sometime soon.
Love you guys, Later.0 -
Awww... that is so sweet of your niece to say Magic. Very supportive. Have fun playing with the baby today!
I decided on Eat Your Greens soup because I had everything, except when I got my broccoli out one head was gross so there wasn't enough good broccoli for the double batch and didn't have any frozen broccoli so I threw in a couple cups of fresh green beans instead. This soup is so easy to play with and always good. I didn't add chickpeas to it this time because I'm planning to make a big batch of E2 hummus for my salads so I'll get my beans in there.
I'm also going to set up my oatmeal for the week and put the containers in the freezer. My usual oats, blueberries, 1/8 tsp turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon. I think I'll also add some finely chopped kale since I have some left from making soup and a few slices of banana to each container.
0 -
Oh, and chia seeds in the oatmeal too! And two walnut halves. Got the oatmeal packs done and in the freezer, made the hummus, soup is done and in containers. Thinking I'll have the soup for lunches and have big salads for dinners this week. Between all this and laundry and cleaning out freezers I am getting a late start on my work. Heading up to my desk like a good worker bee now!

Morning glories! Well, I can't believe I missed posting yesterday. I guess I was busy. Got up a bit late ...walked Lulu on #3 long walk...and then hit the pool for day #3 in a row. I can tell just by the way I am getting in and out of the pool that I am getting stronger. I hold on to the rail and lower myself onto each step...first day, I was shaking. Yesterday, a big difference in my strength. Most of my workout is arms, using the noodle. I use the water as the resistance.
Anyway, so happy that I did finally get in the water...and their ain't no stopping me, now!
@Mihani LOOK AT YOU really getting into that food prep. Wow! Very impressive. I do set up oatmeal in baggies (I reuse) and store in the fridge. Then I dump into a mason jar, with frozen berries and milk the night before.
Meeting my new great-niece has been such a joy...she is so beautiful...and fun...just over two months old and quite active...so happy they are here for two weeks and I get to spend time with them. I was there Sat/Sun and will go back tomorrow. Super wonderful.
Both days I brought my own salad. No issues.
Today's Plan
black coffee
oatmeal
Mexican inspired salad
fruit
Cauliflower Meat Tacos (cauliflower rice, walnuts, mushrooms and other stuff)
more fruit for dessert
Wishing all you sweet peeps a glorious day!

Nice job getting in that exercise two days in a row, Magic! I will treadmill later this evening. Wanted to eat dinner when I got home, I don't like eating late. I'll put in a couple hours at my desk and then treadmill before bed. Glad you are enjoying time with the baby.
Pretty much to plan today... oatmeal for breakfast, soup for lunch, big ol' salad for dinner. I also had an almond milk yogurt and a few pretzels.

Happy Tuesday, ETL friends!
@magic71755 - I loved hearing that you have gotten in your bathing suit and the pool several days in a row, and are getting stronger. Such inspirational news, all of it! And time with the baby and family sounds delicious. So glad you are having such a great week!
@Mihani - What a great Monday you had, food and treadmill!
I had a great ETL Monday.
B- coffee; side of almond butter and goji berries; broccoli, spinach and blueberry smoothie with lemon juice, cinnamon and turmeric (I am all about this combo of lemon and spices - yum!)

Exercise: got sweaty doing platform stepping in the living room while watching part of a fun film I found on Netflix0 -
Morning Ladies! Everyone is chugging along (swimmingly)... !
I have a hair appointment today...so I did get in Lulu's walk...but have to nix the pool. Tomorrow, Lulu has a hair appointment...but it is closer to home, so I may be able to get pool time in as well as her walk.
You all are so supportive...thanks so much. I am down three solid pounds since 9/3...looking to lose 13.6 more. At least for now.
today
coffee
no juice is made
overnight oats
And here it get dicey...not sure of lunch nor dinner. Think dinner will be with family and I think we are going to PITA JUNGLE...a fav of all of ours.
I have plenty of veggies in the house...no lettuce....but I do have cabbage and can make tacos with my not the best mushroom/cauliflower/walnut meat mixture.
Alrighty then. HAGDE...I will catch you all later.
Hugs, nanc

Hope you got your juices made for today Magic! Spending any more time with the baby?
This has been a rough week at work. A lot of new cases while still scrambling to get caught up on the old ones. I can really sort of feel it getting better little by little, and am pretty confident that in another month or two things will be running smoothly for the first time in years.
I have been sticking to my oatmeal for breakfast, soup and a fruit for lunch, salads at dinner. Tonight I mixed it up by throwing a whole bunch of veggies and hummus on sprouted grain toast. I do love a good sandwich.
More work to do tonight so better get at it.

Morning all...did not make my juice. Boo Hoo.
Last day of the weekend...walked Lulu for 30 minutes and she is tired...still warm out ... even at 6:30 am. I am just icing my knee for a few minutes as I continue on. Have to run to cleaners and Sprouts...then pool time...and gather myself for work and one last family/baby time ...heading to my sister's at about 12 ish.
Hope everyone has a great day.
coffee
oatmeal
veggies and hummus and just potatoes in the panini grill (making it for the family)
salad
good pop
Later, dollies.0 -
Have fun with the baby today Magic! Awesome work on the walking, pool, etc. That is awesome you are making a healthy meal for the family today.
I had to leave work early for some dental work today... took a little over 2 hours altogether. Uggghhhh. the whole side of my face is droopy from novocaine. I hate that stuff. It takes a really long time to wear off for me. I think my upper lip may be getting a bit of feeling back and I'm not dribbling quite as much when I try to have a sip of water. LOL
This week is still going along, going along. I'm doing okay with food, not getting exercise in as much as I'd like, and I've been really anxious and stressed at the office, but I really do think after this week I can settle down into a bit more routine and carve out time for food prep, exercise, mindful meditation, etc.
Austin, I meant to ask you, what type of writing are you talking about? Journaling or poetry or short stories or the Great American Novel? Or all of the above? I love to write, but I don't take time for it these days.

Morning glories!
Off to work in a few
Black coffeee
Oatmeal
Watermelon
Salad
Seaweed snacks
Good pop
Thinking this will be my menu for next four day. Friday through Monday
HAGDE!0 -
Wow that vacation went quickly Magic!
I am doing well this week, but really stressed and slammed with work. It is getting better, it really is, but still going to take time to get totally back on top of things. In the meantime simple meals, salads, etc. are the only way to go.
