Great menus gals! I've still never tried oat groats. I should, because I love grains of all types.
I'm having a rough week, but hanging in there with eating right! So easy when I have everything prepped. I found the white bean and collard greens stew especially nice, and have been eating a lot of that.
Sorry bout the rough day, Mihani...sending you hugs...hoping things smooth themselves out in short order! Happy you are still eating properly...that does help!1 -
Hey @magic71755 - You got me even more curious about oat groats.
It looks like one can sprout and then eat them!

Maybe I will try these sometime! It looks like the Whole Foods near me has them, and for a reasonable price! (I just have to brave the crowd!)
Thanks for the reminder of the value of hot tea. I am going to go make myself a big cup.
@Mihani - I am so sorry you are having a rough week. Kudos to you for making great food choices in the midst of it!0 -
I hear ya on that Magic. If I think too much about big projects they never get started, but if I just get started somehow they manage to get finished.

Morning ladies...
Today is going to be all me doing the prep...no help from Sprouts!
black coffee
oatmeal with the usual suspects
taco salad ... let's see, chopped romaine, sweet onions, beans, corn, rice, tomatoes, avocado...salsa with air fried corn tortillas
fresh sping rolls
rice cake with PB and J ... tea and Lulu Love!
I am going to clean the kitchen today and work in the gargage!
That's my day. Oh and prep my meals for my work week.
Have a great day sweet peeps!0 -
Hey @magic71755 !
I hope all your prep went well!
Your menu sounded great, especially "PB and J ... tea and Lulu Love!" Awww!
I am having a good ETL day:
B -green smoothie (broccoli, turnip greens, blueberries, lemon juice, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon); bit of almond butter and a few goji berries to go with
L-steamed turnip greens with fire roasted tomatoes; black beans & mushrooms; squash with onions and tomato; roasted beet; steamed butternut and apple
S- a few golden berries & a smidge of almond butter
D-huge raw veg salad with homemade plant dressing; diced steamed zucchini & turnip with pickled onions; butternut squash and apples with splash of cashew milk and cinnamon
@Mihani - I got in a bit of writing today! Win! I will do some again tomorrow for sure -- a 2 day streak!
Okay, off for some exercise, and then I will want hot tea and bed! I need to work on my sleep. I was looking at reports from a fitness gadget that I wear. For my age and gender, I am in a very high percentile for number of steps, but low for hours of sleep. I just get so busy! But I need to work on that!
Oh, and a cooking project for tomorrow -- vegan bagels! Not quite so ETL, but a treat to take to a community event at my martial arts school on Saturday morning!0 -
Mornin' all! I got up at 4:30 because I went to bed so early. I am going to head to the office early and hopefully get out around 3:00 so I can get my grocery shopping done on the way home. I have some things I want to get done tonight and then I have a friend coming tomorrow to help me with a whole house deep cleaning. Either office or working from home on Sunday, plus food prep. I think another batch of white bean and collards stew is in order.
Hope your prep goes well, Magic!
Yay for getting some writing done, Austin! Let us know how your bagels turn out.

I am looking forward to tomorrow and the whole house cleaning. I am planning simple meals all weekend and through next week... oatmeal, avocado toast, hummus wraps with loads of veggies, salads. Too much to do to fuss about prepping so if any prepping gets done it will be Sunday evening.
Haven't tried the Gardein brand burgers Magic... how are they?

Well that was quite a day! The house looks pretty darn good. I am happy with the results and I am sore, tired and hungry now. I am so glad I hired help. There is no way I could have got all this done myself, and it was motivating having someone else here working with me.
I haven't eaten anything since 6:00 this morning so I need to get some food in me, shower, put clean sheets on the bed, and spend the evening relaxing in my spiffy house.
Dinner will be a couple wraps with lots of hummus and veggies. I have no energy left to cook tonight.

Hey Mihani - It sounds like your day of whole house cleaning was amazing! How wonderful!
The bagels were a bust. I doubled the recipe at the last minute, as it was for a large crowd, and I ended up with a dough that looked wrong. After fooling with it for a b it, I decided I needed to start a new dough or go with a new recipe. I'll make them again, without the worry of planning to serve them to non-family, and take some in if they go well. I think I just handled the dough differently because it was larger, but it was hard to tell.
Instead, I made Eat Your Greens Soup (a recipe I think you pointed me at, Mihani), and that was a big hit!
It was a super busy day yesterday and I am still tired. Phew!
I did not do any writing, so I'll start a new streak or that today.0 -
Oh gosh, @Mihani that is so wonderful...happy you have a home to love again.
And @AustinRuadhain you are so ambitious...love that you wish to give it another go ... I know Lauren Toyota had a recipe for bagels...you might want to check it out...not to use perhaps, but to see if you can get any tips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARj0yar_G2M
Having a quiet morning with my girl...a few things need to be done before work...then make and pack up lunch/snacks/breakfast and go.
@Mihani the Gardein burgers are really YUM...they have two kinds...this is the one with gluten...and when you cook on a grill, they are seriously good. They are called THE ULTIMATE BEEFLESS BURGER.
Also, I really like the Don Lee line of vegan/gluten free foods. Today I am including their vegan/veggie bites into my menu. They are coming out with a new burger...hoping it comes to Costco

Today (subject to change.
black coffee

carrots and cukes with Bitchin sauce
Veggie Bites
Apple
OH gosh...someone (wink wink) gave me an idea for a delish dinner...AVOCADO toast
Dessert, tea Lulu Love and rice cake with PB and J
Have a great fall day, ladies!0 -

Just had six bites, straight out of the air fryer...13 min 350 degrees...I like them crispy...oh gosh, I have had them before, but NOT this good. They have changed their formula I think cuz these are GF.
Have a great day gang.1 -
Sorry your bagels didn't come out, Austin. I hate when recipes go wrong, but it happens to all of us. I mostly hate the waste of effort and ingredients. I love the Eat Your Greens Soup! Last time I made it I didn't have enough broccoli so I used some fresh green beans that I had picked up to bulk it up and that was really good. It is an easy recipe to play with. Good luck with your writing today!
Magic... avocado toast is so good! I had fresh garden tomatoes from my neighbor so I put a slice of tomato and some baby spinach leaves on top and sprinkled with black pepper. Yum! I'll have to check out the gardein burgers. I don't eat a lot of packaged foods, but sometimes they are handy to have around.
It was so nice waking up to such a gleaming house. I am very sore today but my back seems okay which is good. I am prone to problems with my lower back so I have to be cautious. I ran to the office for a short while and brought some work home to do after I get laundry started. Also have to make a salad dressing for the week and a batch of pickled onions. Picked up collard greens and I'm going to do something with those that will include onion and mushrooms. I wanted to make another batch of white bean and collard greens stew, but I realized after I got home I'm out of white beans. Bummer. But I bet pinto beans would work fine so I think that will be the plan.
All the GBOMBS every day this week is my goal!

Hi All!
Happy Sunday! Just trying to clean up everything today. I’ve been getting back into my green juice every morning. Did a blend of kale, spinach, tatsoi and bok choy with flax milk.
Do you try to get a minimum amount of protein in? I don’t eat beans so... that makes plant protein a bit harder! Thoughts?
Thanks!

What a pretty picture, Safari Gal. I don't really bother with macros, and I don't track calories or anything. I do a lot better when I just stick to good food and don't fuss the details much. I eat a fair amount of beans, for sure at least a cup most days, and I like tofu and tempeh also. Do you also avoid lentils and split peas? Lentils are loaded with protein. If you aren't super fussy about 100% ETL you could use a vegan protein powder or drink. I drink the Evolve brand now and then. Not too many weird ingredients in those and they come in handy when I'm in a rush and need something.
Taking tomorrow off to deal with some things in real life. Kind of looking forward to it honestly. I so rarely take a day off that it feels a bit bad girl playing hooky. LOL
B - avocado toast with baby spinach and a slice of tomato
L - big ol' salad
D - soup of some sort ... gotta check the freezer stash

Hello, all!
I had a good ETL day today, and got in all the GBOMBS!
B - spinach, cauliflower and blueberry smoothie; a few golden berries and a bit of almond butter
L - steamed turnip greens with some fire roasted tomatoes; black beans; microwaved mushrooms; curtido (lightly fermented slaw of cabbage, carrots, onions, peppers); steamed butternut and apple with cinnamon and cashew milk
S - apple slices and a bit of almond butter
D - curtido again (it's yummy!); bowl of zucchini, grape tomatoes & pickled onions; big salad with kalke & beets; homemade dressing
I got up early and did meditation and martial arts practice before sunrise, which gave me a very different day. I am aiming to do that again tomorrow.
No writing today, and I won't get any in. I am going to go soak, as I am beat after a busy day. Then up early to prep for class.
Mihani: Enjoy playing hooky! I hope food prep went well, and they ou are getting ion all those GBOMBs!
Magic, I hope you and Lulu had a lovely cuddle!
And a big THANK YOU for the bagel reference. I will check that out before I make bagels again!
Safari_Gal_, I don't worry about a minimum amount of protein, but I do include legumes (beans, lentils) or tofu or tempeh. In a pinch, I have done shakes, and like Orgain for that, and would add it if I thought I needed more.
Off to soak!1
