What's up, people?! It has FINALLY been sunny two mornings in a row!! I got two miles in yesterday. It was a little slow, I got a little distracted by the lovely weather and springtime, so I found myself looking around. I am fasting today. Also weaning myself off the caffeine. I am almost out of bubbly waters, too. I am going to have to find something to get me through fast days. The carbonation does the trick for me. Hmm, will have to think on that. I think I am going to tackle bathrooms today. Deep clean, scrub grout, the whole nine yards. Tomorrow we are getting the students' personal belongings back to them. We also have a loose shelter in place order coming. Strange times. Stay healthy, my friends!0

Haha yes Kate my legs are sore too!!!! Took a break yesterday & today but today I’ve spackled and taped more areas so I’m ready to SQUAT & paint tomorrow all day LOL
Well both you two are heading out for walks that is so awesome!! So impressed
Hope your fast has gone well today Kate!
I’m trying to hold off for dinner... one more hour, I did have a protein drink earlier but I’m so hungry my spackle is looking tasty!!

@mamainthekitchen Step away from the spackle! LOL Have fun painting today!
I didn't get to the bathrooms yesterday. I ended up on the computer doing some school stuff. Fast went pretty well. Walk... not so much. Oh, well. Calling it a win.
Have a great day! Stay safe and healthy!1 -
Good morning all!
Been experimenting with a shorter eating window since I am home. So far I like it! Yesterday I had lunch at around 3:00pm and finished up dinner (and a small piece of dark chocolate) by 9:00pm. Did a similar schedule last week for a day or two. Going to try and stick to it better this week.
Last night we had a nice walk after work. Had my sneakers on at 5:01pm LOL. We went to a state park that is on the water, close to our house. We did a good hour of light walking. Even walked ON the beach and took some pics. I can log on via my cell and see if I can attach a few on here, for you.
Looking forward to some chicken wings made in our air fryer tonight, for dinner! We are getting showers today so no walk. Tomorrow PM should be okay for another walk. Can't wait!
Hoping you guys continue to feel healthy and stick to your fasting and WOE's.1 -
Hello lovely ladies!
It's been a while since I checked in with you all. I'm still alive and kicking...barely! LOL
So it's been an interesting month, I had what was I thought was a kidney infection, was on antibiotics, went to Las Vegas for a work conference, came home, found out I actually have a kidney stone big enough it needs surgery, my kid's school got cancelled for the rest of the year, I got sick and had to quarantine, and due to our lovely pandemic all elective surgeries have been cancelled so I'm waiting who knows how long or until my kidney stone is urgent to get it removed.
Needless to say, it's been a stressful month. I've eaten a pizza in one sitting, eaten chocolate, candy and chips. All things I typically never do. I haven't done a fast over 24 hours in weeks, I haven't even been walking (any intense exercise is off the table with my kidney stone kicking around). I have been avoiding the scale assuming the worst.
Yesterday I woke up and my mindset shifted, and got on the scale, determined to undo the damage of the last few weeks of worry and bad behaviour. When I got on the scale I was only a pound from my lowest weight in recent history.
So then I objectively evaluated my last few weeks. Every day I did at least 18:6, and a lot of days were OMAD. Yes, I've made more poor food choices than usual but I also ate low carb between these poor choices. So while things were (and are) stressful I forgot the biggest lesson I've learned, which is to be kind to yourself. No one is perfect, we all have poor days, and stressful weeks, that's what life's about.
And out of this, I have one huge victory. While I've successfully lost weight before, I've never successfully been able to maintain that loss without extreme diligence. Any small set back, and I'd be up 10 pounds, and then have to work just as hard to lose them all over again. I personally think fasting has changed my hormones. I really hope that my body no longer has that rebound weight gain that has made losing and maintaining weight so difficult in the past. So now I'm determined to get a longer fast in this week and start finding new lows again!
I really hope everyone is staying safe and well in these unprecedented times. Fast on, and much love!2 -
Kate
@A_Dabauer so sorry to hear about your kidney stone! Yikes. Good for you for seeing the light on the other side, being kind to yourself is the greatest gift to ourselves. Mindset is a powerful thing!
Meghan I’m so impressed that you’re able to fast until 3 when your kitchen is probably one room away!!!! Good for you! I was really thinking that most people, everywhere, would be gaining weight with this home quarantine time.... everyone baking etc so good for you!
Off to squat!
Then to walk...

@Meghan509 Way to go! The kitchen temptation is real, you are doing Fantastically!
@A_Dabauer The kidney stone is awful! BUT congratulations on finding your new groove!
@mamainthekitchen Have fun with all that painting!
I have made a point to make healthy choices. I have been walking with purpose and making sure I am fasting. Staying healthy is not just covering your cough. I am over 40, so I have a higher risk, and I am obese. My husband is 63 and has had asthma his whole life. When this very first started, I just thought that my kids could lose both of their parents. That is a big kick in the pants. Which is what I need, because my backside is rather ample.
Off to clean something. I am not going for a walk today, I got five miles in yesterday walking back and forth handing out the students' stuff at school. Today I am a bit sore.
Have a great day! Happy fasting! Be kind to each other!

@mamainthekitchen and @KateNkognito thanks so much for your kind words, it seems if I keep my activity levels low, the kidney stone doesn't cause too much pain. So I'm keeping my exercise to a minimum, but I will try to get in a daily walk as sunshine and fresh air is good for body and mind.
I found a new low on the scale today for the first time in almost a month, so that's a positive sign things are heading in the right direction and now I'm only 2 pounds away from breaking the unbreakable plateau from 5 years ago. All things considered, I'm very happy with my progress, and/or lack of backsliding LOL.
@KateNkognito I think you are very correct about it's more important than ever to emphasize the importance of our health, I know this has to be extra scary times for anyone like your husband who has asthma. I'm very grateful that my autoimmune is much more under control than where it was 6 or 12 months ago. Everything we can do to stay healthy is more and more important as it will increase our likelihood to recover if we do happen to get sick.
Much love!0 -
Hi all!
Things are good here. Still sticking to my six hour eating window and liking it! Almost lunch time - yummy!!
Snuck out to the grocery store and Trader Joe's this AM, to try and beat the "rush". It worked. We got everything on our list and the fridge is packed!
@mamainthekitchen thanks! I think it is the Keto WOE that is helping me stay satisfied longer and not climbing the walls and hungry. Yes, we do have treats. Almost done with our low carb cheesecake and bought ingredients to make another!
@KateNkognito we are doing the same thing - everything we can do to stay healthy in this crazy virus pandemic. Sending healthy vibes!
Congrats on your low @A_Dabauer - YOU GOT THIS! And I hope you feel better!
Tomorrow is weigh in day for me! Feeling good! Definitely going to take a walk tonight and hopefully tomorrow night too. Sunny and in the 50's F here. Woo hoo!
See you all soon.0 -
Good morning and happy Friday!
Funny how the days kind of all feel the same lately...
Today was weigh in day for me and I am down 2.4 lbs! Feels awesome and I will say a bit of a surprise since I had a good loss last week too?! In any case, I'll take it. Plowing through the 160's!
I think my shorter eating window is working. I plan to stick with it. I actually like it a lot.
We went for a really nice walk last night. Wasn't as long time and distance wise because BF and I were stopping a lot to take pictures. He brought his "good" camera with us and it was really nice to take in the scenery and get the legs moving. Planning on more of that tonight as it is sunny and 50's again here.
Hope everybody is well and plugging along. We got this. Stay safe and stay healthy and I'll see you guys soon. If I don't check in on the weekend, have a nice one and see you next week! Wow, April 1 will be here next week!
See you soon.1 -
Congrats on the loss @A_Dabauer and @Meghan509! That is fantastic!
I ate so much yesterday and I am regretting it today. I don't have much time to post, I have some ZOOM meetings and stuff today to get ready to start online learning for students on Monday. It is a new world! Crazy stuff! Have a great weekend and stay healthy!
@orlcam Are you still there? Wondering about you!1 -
I can't imagine how much work it's going to be to transition a class to online @KateNkognito. What grade(s) do you teach?
And amazing loss @Meghan509! That's so encouraging, you'll be through the 160s in no time at this rate.
I'm in my first fast longer than 24's in probably close to a month. I'll break tonight with dinner this evening. It's been an interesting phenomenon when I first started fasting I found it really easy, as life has gone a bit sideways on me the last month or so, it's been a lot more challenging to make it past the 24-hour mark. Interestingly enough now that I am past that mark, it feels really good! I'm hoping I can remember this feeling the next time I'm struggling at 24 hours.
Much love ladies! Chat soon!0 -
Hey everyone...sorry for the absence. Sixty or so posts I've missed. I hope all of you are faring well.
We now have 6 people in the house (I was on the road for 16 hours yesterday, but our son is finally home from college...so 3 people here doing online courses now)...we will never be able to stock enough food ...getting the whole house on a fasting regimen could prove beneficial ($$) Everyone is healthy. My wife is essential personnel (as if we didn't know) so she's been trekking back and forth to work daily. We are in a rural area of New Orleans (yes, that exists ) on the west bank of the river, so we're safer than other sections of the city.
Seems like a year ago, but my brother had a heart attack (life saved by the person who saw him fall off the couch when his heart stopped) about a month ago. He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. I stayed up in ICU for about 10 hours and could see that there was something starting to happen (as far as the virus goes.) Lots of coughing and some patients that were going to need extensive help...so I'm sure the virus was already here weeks (if not months) before reported...which means it propagated heavily throughout the Mardi Gras season (and those visiting brought it back home.) They sent him home right after they started a "no visitor" policy at the hospital (about a week after he arrived)...too soon in my opinion, but the hospital staff was already showing signs of stress and beds were getting hard to come by. It may be a good thing he got outta there.
My wife also has aging parents who have underling conditions...so she is trying to manage 3 locations where she is deemed essential (work, home, parents'), so we are trying to create at least one stress free environment ...I said we're trying!
OK, trying to go back a few posts...
@KateNkognito thank you for the shout out! I completely understand the stress eating...6 people here (including me) are hoarding snacks in their rooms I'm about to strap my kids up and send them out foraging.
@mamainthekitchen Back away from the paste lady! The apocalypse is a bad time to form new addictions Sounds like a good way to workout...without the brain noticing (until it starts to hurts.)
@Meghan509 Wow You are a machine...to maintain during this stressful time really shows how much this has become your new way of life. Congratulations...and still able to shed the pounds like that <applause> I think I'm going to design a new t-shirt..."Be Like Meghan!"
@A_Dabauer Ouch! ...kidney stones. I'm sure it's difficult...especially with the way things are today. Congrats on your long fast; getting it done with these extra "factors" is an exceptional feat.
Stay safe everyone!
In closing...we now have 7 chicks. We've been talking about doing this for years...now seems like the right time. One is limping, she hurt her leg. Hope she pulls through.

@orlcam It is so good to "see" you! Sorry about your brother, but it sounds like he got out of the hospital just in time. That sounds like you have a houseful! I just have two teenage boys stuck here, I can't imagine trying to feed more! Also sounds like your wife deserves flowers and a foot rub! I love the chicks! My husband has wanted some for years, but he travels, so he hasn't gotten any, yet.
@A_Dabauer I hope you made your fast! I am a special education paraprofessional right now in grades k-4. I just got my teaching degree, so I am hoping to be a teacher next year... with all that is going on, we'll see what happens.
I am fasting today. I have also not been walking the last few days, so I am going to make sure to get a walk in today. Might not be really long or fast, but I will get it done! I hope you all have a good week! Stay healthy!1 -
Hi all,
Nice to see you guys checking in and posting, etc. over the weekend!
First, thanks for the kind remarks about my progress!
@mamainthekitchen hope all is well in your neck of the woods! Planning to make another one of my low carb cheesecakes tonight, this time with lemon extract instead of vanilla extract. Will let you know how it comes out!
@A_Dabauer congrats on your 24 hour fast! Hope all went well. Love your profile pic - you look awesome!
@orlcam it is nice to see you! OMG chickens!! Stay healthy and sane with that full house of yours. Bet you are glad to have the kids back from college and stuff. Stay well!
@KateNkognito hope all is well and those boys are not eating you out of house and home. LOL
Things are crazy with this virus, over here in south western Connecticut. We are following our Governor's orders and President Trump's orders and are staying put. Only going out for walks and grocery shopping trips. Still working remotely. Hoping that can continue until we get back to work in person. Scary times for sure. Buckling down on spending and just trying to stay low key. Only thing I bought recently was via Amazon and it was vitamins.
In the mean time, I guess me sticking pretty hard to Keto is my way of staying in control with this all of this Coronavirus and uncertainty with the US economy taking place. Trying to turn this stressful time in to a positive thing - me taking care of myself and getting closer to goal.
Over the weekend I stuck to my WOE but didn't do intermittent fasting as long. Today since it is Monday I am back to my six hour eating window or from 3:00pm to 9:00pm give or take. Last few days have been cool and rainy, so no walking since Friday afternoon. Hoping tomorrow and Wednesday are good and we can get out after work. I really enjoy it, for sure.
Sending you all positive healthy vibes.2 -
Happy Tuesday all!
Things are same and good. Having some coffee and relaxing. About to have some water and tea. Doing my 3:00pm to 9:00pm eating window again today. So far so good. I really don't start to feel hunger until just before 3:00pm. Interesting...
Should have said above, that aside from weekly groceries, I haven't spent any money at all. I LOVE to shop online and lately I receive SO MANY sales emails from clothing companies I love: Gap, Old Navy, J. Crew, H&M, Loft, and the Outlet shops for those, where applicable, to name a few. There are so many cute things that are so marked down that would be perfect for vacation (if it happens) and wearing to work in the summer. So inexpensive too sigh...
Rainy and gloomy here weather wise. Not sure a walk is in the cards tonight. Fingers crossed that tomorrow it will be nicer. Really look forward to fresh air when possible.
Have a great day and see you all soon.0 -
So, I managed to get an eye infection. Couldn't have happened two weeks ago when I had my regular eye appointment and the plague wasn't here yet. Eye doctor is only two blocks away, so I walked and then finished my mile route. I feel victorious since I haven't formally walked since last week. Fast yesterday didn't happen. But today is a new day! I got this! We all do!
@Meghan509 Keep up the good work! I get what you mean about this being the *one* thing you can control in all of this.
Have a great rest of the week! Stay healthy!0 -
Well, online schooling is going ok. There have been some technical glitches, but not too much. My eye is feeling and looking much better today. I am determined to fast today! My husband's job is essential and he had to go out of town for today and tomorrow. I am worried about him. He is in his sixties and has always had allergy/asthma problems. I am praying that he doesn't get sick. I hope you all are still healthy and well! Keep going!2
