Thanks for the compliments you sweet people! 😘
@eggfreak Love your garden. I still haven’t gotten soil for my raised beds. Our actual soil is clay, clay, clay so it needs heavy amendment.
@jugar glad you are getting some help for that pain in your @ss. Hopefully it will go down. Kudos for keeping that side plank up, but not a pleasant incentive. Feel better.0 -
Hi fellow Waistaways, Here are my numbers for Monday.
PW 225.5
CW 225.5
I am actually happy with these numbers since last week I lost a lot of weight because of being sick. So not having a big rebound in weight is a pleasant surprise for me.
I am tracking my bio-metrics weekly on Mondays:
Current bio-metrics:
age - 66
weight 225.5
blood pressure 125/68 pulse 62 (I always take my blood pressure 4 times and use the average)
glucose - 110 (I will want to keep an eye on this. It is higher than I want. I would like to see it less than 100)
ketones .3 (would like to see this higher than 1
glucose ketone index (GKI) - 20.37 I am not in ketosis at this time.
previous week's biometrics
age - 65
weight 225.5
Blood Pressure 128/65 pulse 55
blood glucose 99
ketone level 1.0
GKI 5.5
April 25th when my weight was 234.5:
Blood pressure avg 144/72 pulse 68 (Average of 4 readings)
Glucose 102
ketone level was below .1
Goals for this week from 5am on 5/18/2020 to 5am on 5/25/2020
1) Stay in ketosis. Plan going forward for this week: To cut back on the amount of net carbohydrates I am eating and be consistent for the whole week. Net carbs per day <30 grams
2) My weight goals: I missed my goal to weighing 224 lbs. today by 1.5 lbs. Next Monday my goal weight is 222 lbs. I would like to keep my GKI number in the range of 1-9.
3) Eating Goal - Track my calories, fats, total carbs, protein, fiber, trans-fats. Figure net carbs per day. My Net carbs per day to be 25 grams or less. My calories to be 2500 calories or less. My water intake to be 4 cups or more.
4) Exercise goals: work hard in the yard to where I am breathing hard, sweating and having to take a rest periodically to catch my breath so to speak. Do this at least 3 times this week for a duration of about 2 hours or longer. Weather is predicted to be nice so no excuses.
5) Sleeping goals: re-adjust my sleeping schedule from sleeping during daylight hours to sleeping 4 or more hours during the night and waking up at 5am. My goal is to have at least 2 nights this week where I do this.
6) Directed Meditation for 15 minutes per day or longer.
The Goals above are for just this week. I will re-assess my goals each week on Monday for the following week. My thinking is that I can do anything for 7 days but thinking I will have to do something for the rest of my life is much harder on my psyche until I have done it for a month or more. But if I keep my week to week goals fluid with my longer term goals in mind, then my longer term goals entrench themselves deeply into my subconscious without the resistance I would normally have if I set off with "set in stone" goals. My long term goals are subject to change as I reassess them each week. I may change my long term goals if I decide they are not what I want or circumstances change. The goals are there as a road map for my subconscious but there are many roads that can be taken on the road map just in case one of the roads my be washed out. There may be a road that goes somewhere better that I can take which I won't hesitate to let my subconscious work on. I have learned that for me, if I don't work with my subconscious when I want to make a change in my life, then it is much harder for me to make a change. Especially when it involves habits that I have developed over decades. I know I can't order my subconscious around because it works 24 hours a day 7 days a week and my conscious mind can not use its will to combat it. Rather I use my conscious mind to gradually introduce the changes to my subconscious by directed meditation, lucid dreaming, visualization, prayer, repetition, and Emotion. When I get my subconscious to accept my objectives and goals as being beneficial, then it will work for me rather than try to sabotage my efforts to change my habits and activities and change becomes inevitable and painless.
My longer term goals.
1) Weight goal for Monday, January 18, 2021 is to weigh 154 pounds.
2) Sleeping goal - By June 18, 2020 I wake up each day at 5 am after getting at least 4 hours of sleep feeling refreshed, excited to experience the coming day, and with a definite purpose to fulfill.
3) By June 18th, 2020 I get 30 minutes of strenuous activity as defined in #4 of this weeks goal.
4) By June 18th, 2020 I do directed meditation at least 2 times per day for 15 minutes or longer.

Just curious, how big is your garden/property? I'm still itching to get my tomato plants and a few others, but have ventured out with the virus out there.
We have 8 acres but it isn't all garden! I do put in a pretty big garden though. Our son and daughter-in-law own a cafe and they always appreciate fresh produce so I plant lots with them in mind. Looking at the forecast I am pushing the season a little with the tomato transplants but I like to get them going as soon as possible. Our growing season is already so short...5 -

What a day!
This was our warmest day so far this spring, and it felt good to just spend the whole day outside. Of course, the insects are also happy it is so nice out, so there was a certain amount of swatting, itching, and cursing the black flies. Still, hanging out with the plants, the birds and frogs singing away, and all kinds of lovely outdoor tasks was wonderful.
And we are so good! Of course, a lot of our success is because @unevano was ill last week and lost a lot of weight, but we'll thank him and take it! Let's hope that everyone continues to carefully balance and feel great about eating within the margins.
Remaining weigh-ins for Sunday:
@graceojo999
@justinb_83
@alexsandramorff
Coming up for Monday:
@reflectionofme
@unevano
@MoStacy
@ells_runs
Request! If anyone is getting close to goal, please let me know! How close are you?
PW: 108
CW: 108
I stayed the same, had a lot of deadlines this week but I’ll try to stay within my calories limit this coming week and get some exercise in.5 -
@unevano That seems like a very well thought out plan! I have to look up ketosis. I like the description of the subconscious, that you know to work on it and that there are many roads in there in case one gets washed out.
@jugar I'm not that close to my goal weight and maintenance- still 15 to go until I'm at 145.4 -

@Gidgitgoescrazy What a great plan you have for exercise and steps and for your camping trip. I think you are smart to go the weekend after Memorial Day. Are you interested in connecting with the rest of us on fitbit? If so, let us know. It may give you that extra motivation to get those 10K steps.
Absolutely, I'd love to connect on Fitbit, I just don't know how.... My Name on there is Vikki H.
I sent you a request (I think). It always tells me no user found but then it finds them, so hopefully you’ll get a request from Michele L.
Okay I didn't get it, so I'm afraid you friended a different Vikki, but I looked it up and it turns out I never had a user name set up just a display name... So I set up a user name and it's the same as here Gidgitgoescrazy

So yesterday was pretty good, I accomplished everything I set to accomplish, the only hiccup was when I got into bed to read, I was towards the end of the book, so I finished it, so normally I am asleep my 10pm, I didn't finish reading until 11.30- so I am a bit sleepy this morning... This always happens at the end of a book...
Did my 2 miles this morning, and will do pilates when I get home today, then I will take the dogs on a walk, then finish on the treadmill if I still need more steps...
My steps for yesterday were - 10,915

Happy Tuesday!
This is our quiet day of the week with no weigh-ins - good chance to take a breath, catch up, and plan. It is another beautiful sunny day here, so on with the bug spray, and out to install the garden water pump and hand till the final 2 rows before gradually planting the rest over the next week or so. The pump is such a help - we throw it into a well that we have in the stream (this used to be the surface well for our old cabin where we used to live before building our "real" house), and then run a hose to the garden where there is a 55-gallon drum to hold the water so we can keep the plants happy when it doesn't rain. It sure beats hauling water from the pond...
@unevano - it is a pleasure to read your clear and detailed posts - please feel free to post more often! The openness to flexibility and change is important. And did you just have a birthday? Welcome to 66 I got here in January. It is great that you are taking good care of yourself. Enjoy sweating outside and getting all that work done!SW- 192.4 (5/4)

@Alexsandramorff hang in there! With a busy schedule it is hard to keep on track, but you did not gain, and you can make those small changes to adjust the calories in - calories out balance, or whatever method you are using. Keep well and take a good walk whenever you can!
@Gidgitgoescrazy we will find you... bwahahaha!5 -
@matthewsfive Vera, I keep forgetting to mention this, but I LOVE your new profile photo. So beautiful.
@micki48 thanks that's really sweet of you.3 -
Happy Tuesday everyone! I wanted to write last night but the day got away from me! I love hearing about everyone's gardens. We do a garden too but I am not the main care taker. My mother in law plans it out and starts a lot of the seeds. I usually am on weeding and harvesting duty. We have deer and have a 7 foot fence around it and the orchard.
Oh my, moving the chocolate to another part of the house and storing it in a ziploc so I can't smell it has been life changing. I don't even think about it! 😂
I have been reading "no sweat" and the section I am reading right now focuses on everything counts. If you get 10 minutes of movement it counts. If you get 3 minutes to walk to the mailbox it counts. When you start viewing every little amount of time as actual exercise your more likely to be willing to take advantage of every scrap of time. As a working mom I get interpreted a lot. Instead of not doing some pilates because I know the kids will interrupt me, I just do what I can. Instead of not starting my workout video because the oven timer will go off before I'm done, I get what I can done. I am amazed at how many exercise minutes I am getting! Just a new way to think about exercise.4 -
Whoa sorry to be away so long. Weighed myself at 155.6 today so I am holding firm. I'm on the support side lines this month, but just trying to maintain.
My cousin who is ill has started her treatments, I am taking her back and forth to the hospital. She is wearing a fabric mask and a face shield that we got her on Amazon.
I will check in as time allows over the next month.
Hang in everyone and stay healthy!

It was really dreary here today, but I went out for a walk with my umbrella. I fully expected to get rained on but it was only a little misty. Walked for 34 minutes then came back and did a 25 minute Pilates workout.
Dinner is done. Everything logged so far. Good with my water. Step goal met. 👍🏻👍🏻 I also made a snack I thought I’d try. Can’t remember where I saw it, but easy. Roasted chickpeas. They taste good. I have a great Smoked Paprika from Penzey’s spices that I used on them. Not sure if I’ll snack on them plain or put them in my salad. Well, I have no lettuce left until I head back out to the store.
Have a great night.5 -
What a day! I will sleep well tonight - first sunburn of the year (mostly weird little triangles on my feet caused by my sandals, and on my back from bending over in the garden wearing a sleeveless top), plenty of hours of heavy hoeing, cultivating, and preparing the rest of the garden. The shower was earned, the black fly bites plentiful!
I love your exercise (and chocolate) revelations, @conleywoods ! It is amazing how getting our thoughts into a new groove can help us without too much effort or worry. The tiny habits or the No Sweat approach are both great for that - you do what works, and it feels so good you don't mess it up. I have been doing more push-ups in the past week than in ages, just by doing 2 every time I come out of the bathroom. Even if I go in to wash my hands, gotta do those 2 push-ups. I really see a difference already! Better form, and some nice triceps development! And good for you for getting the chocolate into the oubliette
@micki48 - you are doing great this week! Roasted chickpeas are delish. Well, to me, chickpeas are always fantastic no matter what you do to them. I think I'll soak some overnight. You gave me the craving!
Just a few reminders before relaxing for the rest of the evening ---

I worked in the office today training new staff which meant a lot of sitting around. I was exhausted when I got home, and my muscles hurt from yesterday's video, so couldn't force myself to do a workout, but I did walk around the house to get an extra 1,000 steps so that's something.
IF going okay, my stomach sounds like an angry bear by the 15th or 16th hour though lol.
I'm a little worried as my garden flooded after I put my transplants in. That being said I have friends in the next town over being evacuated from their homes due to flooding, so if all I have to deal with are some dead plants, then I will consider myself blessed. Michigan is being hit hard right now between COVID19 and now the flooding. But we will survive!4 -
I just had to share some pictures from a Robbins nest that is just off the trail we walk on. Really fun to see them grow!

It was a busy day. We had to go in to town to run some errands and we were able to attend a communion service at church, our first since the self-isolate mandate in early March, a very small group practicing the whole social distancing thing but very glad we could participate. When we got home I had a long list of things to accomplish outside because the forecast tomorrow is for a two day rain which we will welcome with open arms. Plus it means I might get a couple days in the house to tend to all the things I neglect when it is nice outside. Although truth be told, I would much rather be outside than in!5

@conleywoods how precious! They are adorable. Thank you for sharing.2

Okay so apparently there is a competitive side of me I had no idea about !!! Although I guess not that competitive, because when I woke up at 5.45 I thought If I get out of bed right now, I have time to do an extra mile, but I didn't do it.. lol...
Anyway, Yesterday steps were 12,194 and 30 minutes of Pilates...
Today, is dog jog and yoga... I got my 2 miles done already... I wish I could find a way to take my work week energy/motivation ( not sure what the right word for that would be) into my weekend, I just seem to kick butt during the week, and on the weekends, I'm lucky if I can kick an ankle...
Anywho, I started a new book last night, it's starting so sad and depressing I really hope it gets better... I can't wait till the book stores open again, I miss browsing, it's just not the same online...
Anyway, off to do some work, it should be a busy day, so hopefully it will go by quickly !
Have a wonderful day !4 -
Happy Wednesday!
It is another bright and sunny morning here - so more bug bites are in my immediate future Still, it is great to be out there, and not experiencing the floods like @jguldi11 - I hope you stay high and dry
@conleywoods thanks for posting the baby robins! The progression is beautiful - how many days has it been since they hatched?
@Gidgitgoescrazy no kidding you're competitive! I have to get in some serious walking today!!! What book are you reading? What kind do you like? Maybe we can all start recommending books to one another. I read a ton too, and listen to audiobooks even more.
Have a good one, all!3 -

It's called " If the creek don't rise" By Leah Weiss - it's her 1st novel... My genre is usually light, fun reads, I wouldn't call them romance, but there is usually that in them, there is always a strong female character who overcomes something... Or dogs, there are alot of books about dogs on my shelves... I'm not big into mystery, or murder types such as Dean Koontz.. One of my favorite series was the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, although that took me years to get through because I prefer a quicker read, I tend to have a short attention span, so something I can get done in a week with just a few hours a night, is usually all I go for. I read solely for pleasure, not to learn anything, lol...

I totally agree. In addition all those NEAT things you can do to burn extra calories. I think my favorite suggestion was to be purposefully inefficient when you are moving around your house.2 -
@conleywoods Thanks for the sweet birds post. I love it!
It has been raining here nonstop. I was having dreams about water pouring in through the ceiling. Thank God, that was only a dream. We are pretty much puddling everywhere. Clay soil does not have great drainage. I don't mind the rain, it's when there is wind as well, then I worry about the great big Oak trees all around my house. A few years back, a hurricane came through and our neighborhood was a disaster zone. Luckily for us, trees around us went in the opposite direction of our house onto neighbors. It was bad, but now that is always in the back of my mind. If our oldest Oak in front every comes down and we are home. Bye bye.
My granddaughter will be here soon for a day with us while mommy gets some work done. I got up early, compared to lately, had coffee and listened to the rain. Completed 17 minutes of Pilates and here I sit. I need to get some steps quick as there are some women on this team who appear to never sit down.
Make the best of this day! Talk to you later.

How my brain works:
I need to walk more.
Actually, I need to drink more water.
Oh, I need to water my plant.
*pours water bottle on plant, does not drink any*
Why am I so dehydrated?
Sigh. I didn't sleep until late last night again because I was thinking about a comic/show that I got husband hooked on with me and then started writing a story in my head again.
People who are bored in quarantine confuse me, since between books/games and the hours I can spend lost in my own head I don't remember ever feeling bored.5 -
