@podperson1 Whoops. When I lost my post and recreated it, I forgot my note to you. I hate that you're feeling like rubbish (though secretly love that you say 'rubbish' and that @Freeglerock says tea and pudding and doesn't mean Tetley or custard). I hope your week brightens up and that you enjoy the weekend. You'll hit your stride again soon! Hugs.1

Update: As many of you know I have just finished three months of chemo for liver cancer. Had the scan on Tuesday which showed the tumor has not shrunk, actually grew a bit but has not spread anywhere. Yay!!! For now the plan is to either try adding another drug to the chemo regimen for six more treatments or to have a pump placed to directly pump drugs into the tumor. Have to wait until Tuesday for the doctors' team meeting to know what they decide. I was able to skip the chemo session today
On a good note all my labs are still normal and even improving. I feel good and can still do whatever I want. My weight is up a little today but I am not worried about it at all. still about 1609 -
@ProfDawnLee I am the same about dinner time. I am "good" all day then I eat too much at and around dinner. I think by the end of the day I'm just tired and that contributes to my decisions. One thing I noticed was that I really wasn't eating enough earlier in the day, and once I started having a bigger lunch or a snack around 3pm, I did a lot better with not snacking while I made dinner. You've got this, though!
Y'all be sure to eat a rainbow today!

@pacsnc6 Thanks so much for your update, Patsy. I was wondering how your scan went. I'm glad your labs were good and that you get to miss this week's chemo session. It sounds like you have a good medical team too. Your positive spirit really shines through here and I believe that's your secret weapon. My daughter is like that. Sending positive thoughts to you as you head into the next six weeks of treatment. Hugs.1

not much of a loss but at least it went down. been having a rough few days, a few personal problems. then at work the staff *kitten* about the silliest things ever, who cares if there is a lunch box on the floor, pick it up!!! let me tell you today is not the day and i am not the one. anyway i wont burden you with all my troubles, lol. i am trying to drink lemon water every morning and i have gotten fruit in the last two days. a girl at work says she found a diet that she eats all carbs one day and all protein the next and she has lost 7 pounds in one week. i asked her the name but that's all the info i got out of her, besides she found it on facebook. not very helpful. i would like to research this diet before i try anything. the gym opened back up to half capacity but the classes haven't started yet so no zumba. i am waiting, they said soon. not soon enough if you ask me.2
-
@ljdanny Great weigh-in. You sound determined right now! I think you're right about the FB diet perhaps not being very helpful. I hope you can get back to Zumba soon. It sounds like fun. I think I might be hopeless at it. Coordination isn't my strong suit. I try to have two days a week with more carbs (I save the calories from the other days to fit more in on those days.) I find it's good for bulk, or as my grandmother called it, roughage. Plus, I'm not sure about this scientifically, it seems to kickstart my metabolism ~ either that, or it's something to look forward to and keeps me on track on the other five days. Have a great week.2

Hi all,
Having some issues with the site as well - not sure what's up with it this week!
@nstephenson01 - some great goals and progress, hope you feel better soon.
@GingerPwr - eek, that sounds scary, glad all was ok! Hehe, go you on being classed in the 'athlete' bracket
@sleepymom5 - that looks just beautiful, can totally see how it would be such a relaxing spot - hope your tiki bar wasn't too busy!
@1theresamcvean - lol, I didn't even think of rubbish being 'British'. I grew up in England, currently live in Scotland, and have a lot of American/Candian friends so I tend to have a rather mixed set of phrasings! Though your version of 'pudding' is just weird
@ljdanny - every little counts and at least it's going in the right direction. Must admit that diet sounds very much in the 'fads that make you lose for a week then put it all back again' category, but hey I guess you never know. I'm currently doing my zumba on zoom - are your instructors maybe involved in anything like that? (or hey, I'll send the link for mine if the time difference isn't too much lol)

Has been very up and down all week, but happy to see the 170s for today at least
Feeling a little better, did my zumba session Tuesday - though damn, after having a week or two I could really feel the difference in how tired I got! Annoying how quickly we can get back out of shape. Food has been okay, could be better. Have an online counselling appointment tomorrow, which am feeling very nervous and worried about. I'm not good at the whole 'opening up' thing, but could really do with something to help me sort myself out so fingers crossed it'll be useful.5 -

Actually quite pleased with this weigh in as my biggest goal for June was to get into and remain in the 160's. It was higher in the week due to too much sodium but I worked hard to overcome that. Goal for July will be to get lower into the 160's.4 -
Like many of you I am having such a devil of a time with this site.
Beautiful picture @sleepymom5. I miss the water
@pacsnc6 Thank you for sharing your update. Been thinking about you and send positive energy your way.
@podperson1 Welcome to the 170's!!!! Good luck with your counseling session.
Wednesday check in
Yesterday was such a weird day. Twice this month where I've experienced chest tightness and shortness of breath. Symptoms last a day but go away as quickly as they appear and today I feel pretty "normal".
Hubby is at his dad's this week helping with a home project but was expecting to be home by my birthday tomorrow. He called last night to say the project was taking longer than expected and doesn't know yet when he'll be home. Its not like we had anything special planned but because of his job he hasn't been home on my birthday for a couple of years. I guess I was looking forward to him being home and not spending my birthday alone more than I thought. Oh well, now I have a few more days to be disciplined and eat well. Taking care of my health is a pretty good gift to myself I think.
Daily goals
10,000 steps/day X Nope, only 5,306 steps but I did make sure to get my 250 each hour
30 minutes of exercise/day X again, nope
Pre-log food and eat according to plan ✔️ Did well with food despite feeling bad
3 days of 14:10 IF, 2 days of 16:8 IF and 2 non fasting days (TBD & Sun) ✔️ 16:8 IF
50% of Dr Greger's daily dozen ✔️ It can be hard to get 50% on the days I do a longer fast but I made a big salad for dinner

It took me all day just to get on this thread! Busy day yesterday, but it was a good one. It is the last day of school today, hurray! We are having a distanced party in our backyard tonight for my older son’s grade 8 graduation. He has lost interest, but knows that cash gifts will be involved, so he is happy. I just had a huge, buttercream cake delivered for the party. I am totally saving a bunch of calories for a big slice!
@nstephenson01 - Happy Birthday in advance! I am so so sorry that you husband cannot be there tomorrow. I hope that you can do something fun on your own and am sure you will have a nice celebration with him when he returns. You are doing so well overall, and am very impressed with your IF in particular. And it is fantastic to stay in the new weight decade. Re the tightness in your chest, you may want to get that checked out if it happens again.
@podperson1 - Congratulations on the new weight decade! I hope that the online counselling goes well and it is a really good idea to do that. I am the same about opening up, but it can be done with time and the right counselor.
@ljdanny - I am sorry that you are having a rough time of late. I hope that the Zumba starts up soon because I know that you really like it. I have never heard of that diet before.
@pacsnc6 - Thanks for updating us and while the news is not what you hoped for completely, it is good news that the tumour did not spread. I will keep praying for you through this next round of treatments and please continue to keep us posted. Huge hug to you.
@1theresamcvean - Great job staying in the new weight decade and you are not far from goal! The city really does feel different in Phase 2, I agree. Thanks for that article on aging. Even though it is a way off for us, part of my 2020 goal is to think about what retirement looks like for me & my husband. I don’t have much of a recipe. Just throw a bunch of chopped frozen bananas in the food processor, put in a splash of any kind of milk, and put in a few teaspoons (or more of flavouring) like cocoa, vanilla, PB2. Or you can throw in a cup of berries. If you do it right, the consistency is like soft serve and is delicious!
@sleepymom5 - That photo is glorious! Enjoy your time with your family!
@melaniedscott - I am sorry about the gain and the GERD and that gain. I hope that you can find some relief by Sunday.
@Profdawnlee - Plateaus are the worst, but don’t give up! Getting suppers on the table can be really hard, and I am so with you on this. I try to keep it really simple in the summer. My ideas are not perfect but they all take about 30 minutes. Here they are: breakfast for supper with side salad or veggies (eggs cook fast); tacos (have ground beef or meat alternative in freezer, it does not take long to cook, use flatbreads if you don’t have taco shells, add lots of veggies); have frozen foods on hand like fish filet, chicken breast or fingers & serve with crudité (carrots, celery, peppers) & a dip like hummus (my kids love this supper for whatever reason); Stir fries (chicken, tofu or any proteins, with any veggies on hand, it does not take long, serve on noodles); quick fry cuts of meat like thin steak or chicken filet, put on a whole wheat bun, server with veggies or salad). Frozen meals like a frozen lasagna or meatballs also work well. I go to an Italian grocery and stock up from time to time, usually in the winter.
@tryingagain5 - The 28 day challenge is a great idea! If you decided to do it, you can post for accountability here.
@KUMEcyclingteam - Cool bike! I kind of would like to see a photo of that, but realize you cannot really do a selfie when you are sinking!
@GingerPwr - I am so sorry about you have to go to the ER, but glad that you are ok. You are right, it could be stress. There could be other things like mild asthma or an allergy too. Best to get it checked out further. And yes, you are absolutely an athlete and your awesome resting heart rate proves it!

@melaniedscott I can really relate. I had the worst problems with GERD. It got so bad that I was gagging and throwing up at the beginning of each meal. I finally realized that I was really having to battle it out when I ate eggs, chicken, fish, and turkey. After a while I thought, why in the world am I forcing myself to eat something my body is rejecting. I wasn't sure if it was gluten, garlic, onions, spicy food? I ended up on Prilosec with minimal relief. I saw a specialist and she wanted to start me on something stronger. I was dreading eating. I finally made a decision to go vegan. "All better!". It's funny that Molly and I were just talking about that this morning. My meals used to be nightmares. And now I love eating too much. I don't miss those days at all. And with no meds. But everyone has to find what works for them. Hope you find your answers soon.
@gingerpwr What a scare with your heart. I had the same "athlete's heart" label as well. It was such an ego boost lol. I am really glad to hear your doing ok. My daughter does a lot of running and her rate is consistently in the low 50's as well. Mine used to be in the 50's but my scare happened when it started hitting low to mid 30's. Mine is now set with a pacemaker not to go lower than 60.1 -
@1theresamcvean whoa...that picture drove me nuts! You know I was gonna love all over that! So very pretty!!!
@gingerpwr I always love a rainbow!
@Freeglerock I too loved your peas and violets pictures! So pretty. We got sugar snap peas with our CSA. I fixed them for dinner with nothing else. Sauteed them then drizzed some tamari and roasted sesame oil. So scrumptious.
I love to cook so much. Especially for people that I love. I made soup and Mississippi mud bars last week for my teams. One girl is a "float teller" that we borrowed from another branch. She happened to be there the day I brought food. She made my day. Sent me a note telling me it was the best food she ever had in her whole life. hahaha.
I wish I could cook for all of you! I fantasize that I hit my goal, then you hit your goal and I make you a fabulous celebration feast, even though we are not supposed to use food as a reward.
@pacsnc6 my prayers are with you girl! You hang in there.
@sleepymom5 beautiful picture! I think the shore is your happy place!
I am busy hanging in there dealing with branch team issues. But all part of the job. I am bringing chocolate cupcakes to work tomorrow for someones birthday.
I got my haircut yesterday by a pricey hairdresser that my mom uses. She is a pro. I love it. I will post pic when I can.2 -
I have got to stop making excuses and focus more.5 -
I haven't posted at all lately, sorry ladies. I still come in and read your posts.
Here is a little summary check in:
2 weeks ago we went camping. I still did 20/4 IF. We did the Table mountain hike, I loved it. 2,300ft elevation gain
here I am on top
even though I was camping and I did not miss my weights workout. I had to improvise
squat wit a 100lbs kid on my shoulders
overhead press with a spear tire
this week I have been busy in my garden. All the tomatoes, petunia, cucumber, basil, oregano, peppers I grew from seed.
my peonies are about to bloom
double petunia, grown from seed as well
I also started growing African Violets. Here are my babies
and here are my beauties

It was nice seeing my trainer today. He worked me hard but not too hard. We set up for 3 sessions next week so that will be helpful for me.
I didn't tell him how much weight I've gained since March but will probably have to let him know next week. I gained almost 20 pounds since then. I'm really going to have to work hard to lose that plus the 50 that I still needed to lose.
We decided for me to work on getting in water since I've been having trouble with that too. Going to try and drink 8 to 12 ounces before each meal, so this is my challenge for the week.6 -

@timibotkin i cried when my first foster dog got adopted, but now I’ve been doing it for a few years and I am mentally prepared to help them get healthy, give them love and help them find a new family. Not that I don’t get sad! On the day I turn over a dog I have to plan an activity to keep myself occupied so that I don’t get emotional!3

@tryingagain5 - That is great that you are back to having sessions with your trainer. Water was always a challenge for me, but I managed to up my intake earlier this year. I found just gradual increases worked, as well as having bottles filled in the fridge ahead of time.

Whoo Hoo! Back in Onderland finally!! I have had a good week. I have been doing well with focusing on my hunger scale and I am going to keep that up this week. I need it to be ingrained in my brain!
I am trying to get things up and running here at the shore. The weather is beautiful so it is slow going since I would rather be doing other things lol! We didn't end up going to the Tiki bar which I am happy about. My daughter had an unexpected zoom meeting so it worked out well. Today we are having some relatives over for a bay day. We have an autistic 17 year old nephew who loves coming here. He loves to push his older cousins in the bay Lol! We have plenty of room to be socially distant here and there won't be too many of us.
@1theresamcvean Nice loss! I think as long as you are going down or staying the same it is good. Your comment to me made me lol! You're right! Why did I go ruin everything and clean I have lost entire posts too, it is so frustrating! Lol! I am glad that the noise was a little better yesterday and hopefully it will be the same today too. Love that your neighbor got some music going on your block. You have a great neighborhood! I remember you had some musicians sharing their talents during the quarantine. I love your tea set up too! Have that ready when I get myself to Toronto
@pacsnc6 Thank you for the update. I know that wasn't the news you were hoping for but even though the tumor didn't shrink, the rest of the news is all positive. Sounds like you have a good team around you and a good plan going forward. Hugs to you my friend.
@GingerPwr I love when your accent gets into your writing! Lol! I will make a point today to eat the rainbow! I went shopping yesterday so I can actually do it!!
@ljdanny Hey, the scale is moving in the right direction so give yourself a pat on the back!
@nstephenson01 Hopefully it is nothing but I think you should get that chest tightness and SOB checked out. That doesn't sound good. I am glad that it did seem to go away but I would at least run it by your doctor.
@podperson1 I can understand why you would be a little apprehensive about things opening up. Just remember, you need to feel safe so just do what you are comfortable with. Hopefully work will honor that.
@Mrsbell8well I would love a celebratory dessert that you cooked Lol! I live close enough to take you up on that Lol!
@Cafelelia I hope the graduation party went well last night! I would have saved calories for the cake too! Sounds delicious!
@annliz23 Love that post!! So true!
@hope002. I thought we lost you! Love the pictures! You looks so fit and beautiful! Love all your plants too. I remember how beautiful your deck was from last year. I think you did a winter/summer post in the winter.
@tryingagain5 I am glad you are back with your trainer. He seems like a good one. Don't beat yourself up, just move forward. You got this!
@lennoncpa I think you are so close to your goal that you are probably going to be losing very slowly. You really are doing so great!
@lenka1 Nice loss! You are doing fantastic! Don't worry about posting, we love to hear from you but it is more important for you to take care of yourself and those adorable little girls! xo4 -

@tryingagain5 I am glad your back with your trainer. I am right in there with you and the weight gain. I had a brilliant idea after Wednesday's weigh in. I decided NOT to weigh! The last 3 days have been wonderful. No diet mentality for me. I am curious but not that curious. I need a scale break for just a little bit. Plus I have a chocolate cupcake setting here on my desk waiting to be eaten. Best chocolate, maybe best ever cupcakes, that I have ever made. The stores were all out of baking cocoa. I finally found a container in the health food section of organic baking cocoa that I had never used before. I will take a picture to post. It's such an amazing chocolate flavor. And I am not a chocoholic but this stuff is so good!
I have told you all before about my level 10. I decided to work on Romance. I have a fun picnic planned with Molly tonight when I get off work. We have recently been discussing what do we love most? Soup, salad or sandwich??? Of course there is no real answer since it's a 3 way tie! We love them all!!!
I stayed up much later than I like last night baking cupcakes and preparing for this picnic. I am making a super Yummy Ultimate veggie sandwich (I will post pictures), with Kettle wavy potato chips (a once a year event for me), I also made watermelon lemonade, and made oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies. We are taking a big blanket, a picnic basket and a cribbage board. Maybe I will write a vegan picnic cookbook!
This stuff doesn't just happen, You have to really want it and make it a reality.
I have been 100% on with my exercise and sleep. I seem to be needing more sleep than usual.
@nstephenson01 Nancy happy birthday!!! Love that veggie cake!
@hope002 how clever of you with your exercise. And I am stunned that you grew all that from seed. Exceptional!
@sleepymom5 Pam I have a whole sumptuous feast waiting for you!!!
I am feeling pretty tired these days. I have had a bit of a stressful week although I try to take it all in stride.
Made the tastiest slaw from CSA veggies. Red cabbage, carrot, red onion, kale with a dressing of lemon juice, ACV, vegan yogurt, a little honey and grape seed oil. Topped it with vegan feta. Yummy! I get so excited for meal time.
